The Council desire, in view of the present financial stringency and of the desirability of publishing in the Quarterly Journnl all suitable papers with the least possible delay and at the lowest possible cost, to draw the attention of Fellows and other authors of papers to the necessity of reducing manuscripts and illustra- tions to the minimum, consistent with clear presentation of the subject-mattar. Authors who have in view the submi~qion of papers to the Society should apply for the printed' Instructions to Authors ' which the Secretaries will forward, with such other information as may be necessary.
