General Listening Strategies• Concentrate and keep your mind
focussed on what you are listening to• Listen intently• Get an overall view of the text – you do
not need to understand or memorize every word
• When listening to oral text more than once:-
- Identify the main ideas the first time- Identify specific details, like numbers,
names etc• Lean and apply the right listening skills

• Take note of all the key words• Summarize them into one
