General Manager’s Holiday Message

We have quickly moved into the holiday season! On Thanksgiving Day here at The Surf Club over 220 people enjoyed their holiday by having a magnificent meal provided by Chef Chip and Food and Beverage Manager, Deneen Kaufman. Coming quickly is our Membership Christmas Party on Saturday, December 3rd. We already have over 250 reserva ons and expect several more. Our New Year’s Eve party this year will undergo a change. We will have a magnificent dinner from 7:00 un l 9:00 with a champagne toast at 9:00 pm. The menu for this event will be out in the near future, so look for that informa on through your email messages from the club. Please call Susan or Rose in the Administra ve Office to reserve your spot for either the Membership Christmas Party or for New Year’s Eve dinner. Don’t miss out on the Santa and Champagne Brunch on December 18th in Hussey Hall. Please see Food and Beverage Manager Deneen Kaufman’s ar cle for the exact mes of the buffet and the arrival of Santa Claus. Our club has now put in place an Phone App for the membership. By downloading this program on your Phone, you can receive immediate messages regarding club events. See the results of club tournaments and communicate with other club members regarding golf, tennis or dinner. Please contact Ian Isenberg or Kris ne Covelli in the Golf Shop and they can walk you through the process of having this important item on your Phone. As we move forward thru the holiday season, we are pleased to offer the membership numerous opportuni es to enjoy and u lize The Surf Club. The clubhouse has been beau fully decorated by the staff so please invite those friends who are not Surf Club members and let them see what the Surf Club is all about! On a personal note, on behalf of the employee’s, I would like to thank the membership for a wonderful year here at the Surf Club. During the past 14 months, your club has absorbed a major flooding, clubhouse renova on, greens damage and replacement, a hurricane and a tornado. The membership has been very understanding and suppor ve during this very difficult period and we thank you for that support! Wishing you and your family the best during the upcoming holiday season! The Surf Golf and Beach Club

There is a charge on this month's bill of $50.00 for a contribution to the employee's Christmas gift fund.

This contribution is distributed to ALL employee's, thus providing a way for members to know they have said

“Thanks” for all the hard work and service provided by the staff. Many employees work behind the scenes to

help make your experiences at the Club, pleasant ones. In this way, you ensure they get a well deserved gift from

membership. The contribution is voluntary, and if you choose not to contribute, or if you would like to give an

amount other than $50.00, please contact the office and we will adjust your account according to your wishes.

Please do so prior to December 14th, if at all possible, so that we may distribute the funds before Christmas.

I would also like to Congratulate the 2016 Ladies Club Champion Billie Ellwanger and President’s Cup winner Jane Serues.

The last event for our season is only open to Ladies Golf Association members. It is our Christmas tournament which will

be played on December 1st, one week before our final event of the 2016 season, the Christmas Luncheon. Sign-ups for

both events can be done in the Pro Shop. Be sure to mark your entrée selection for the Luncheon. There will also be a

pre-tournament buffet on December 1st starting at 10:00AM!

Applications for SCWGA membership for the 2017 golf season are now available. They can be found in the signup book

in the Pro Shop. The fee is the same as last year….35.00 for membership and 5.00 for the ringer board, which is optional.

Eileen and Mary will be accepting dues payment at the luncheon. Or applications and payment can be paid in the Pro Shop

or sent to Mary Hulquist, 1603 Surf Estates Way, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29597. All members whose dues are paid by

January 10th will be included in the 2017 roster.

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of our 2016 SCLGA golf schedule. We would like to welcome our newest golf

member, Allana Goodyear.

The Ladies Two Day Member Guest was held on November 3rd and 4th. We were ever so grateful to be playing this

tournament at all. Thanks to Scott and the Greens crew as well as the Pro Shop for making it possible for us to make

this tournament happen. The theme was Under the Tuscan Sun and Deneen and Chef Chip outdid themselves with food

and amenities for the 2 days. The winners for the 2 days were:

Weekly Tennis Mixer Saturdays at 10:00am

Join us every Saturday for our weekly round robin tennis mixer. This is for ladies and men and is just for the fun of it. If you are new to tennis or coming back from a long layoff this is great way to work on your game and meet other Surf Club tennis players.

Ladies Tennis Clinic Fridays at 8:30am

This clinic is for beginners and advanced beginners or for those trying to improve their game. We work on the basic skills, stroke technique, tennis conditioning as well as game strategy. All this is done in a fun atmosphere to help you learn and enjoy the game.

Here are the results of our 2nd Annual Surf Club Tennis Member-Guest Tournament on a glorious Saturday morn-ing at the tennis complex. Great weather, great tennis and great food and great fun was had by all.

“THE GREAT RACE TO 50” NEW MEMBERSHIP DRIVE We are off to a great start on our race to 50. We have 15 new members in the first two months. Please spread the exciting news that our Clubhouse renovation is completed. In addition, the greens have been replaced and the course is open again! This is a great opportunity for a Prospective Member to join. During the “Great Race to 50” the initiation fee is $2,500.00 for our Limited Non-Resident Golf Membership. The Initiation Fee for a Full Golf Membership is $3,000.00. The Member credit is $300.00. Please drop off at my office any names of prospective members that you would like me to contact. Together we can reach our goal of 50 new members!
