    GENERAL SAFETY RULES (GUIDELINES)

    Because of the importance of safety rules to yourself and those with whom you work,violation of any of the following safety rules will be sufficient grounds for disciplinary

    action, from a warning to discharge.

    1. Report to First Aid immediately for every injury, no matter how trivial andnotify your supervisor.

    2. Keep your work place clean and orderly. Eliminate any condition that mightcause injury to you or a fellow employee.

    3. Obtain permission and instructions from a supervisor, or designatedrepresentative, before operating any machine.

    4. Do not operate machines without guards properly in place. Never reach over,

    under or around guards while machine is running.

    5. When it is necessary to place any part of the body into equipment to cleanadjust, correct malfunction, or for any other reason, the following safetyprecautions must be taken. The main disconnect or machine disconnectmust be in the OFF position, locked out and all moving parts stopped. Whenhydraulic or pneumatic equipment is involved, all pressures must be relievedand air valve turned off; tagged and/or locked out. EMPLOYEES MUSTFOLLOW CURRENT LOCKOUT PROCEDURES.

    6. Obtain permission and instructions from a supervisor, or designated

    representative, before using any unfamiliar material. The use of requiredprotective equipment and procedures when performing any job assignmentinvolving the use of hazardous or potentially hazardous material ismandatory.

    7. Only assigned electricians or employees of allied electrical trades are tomake electrical repairs or change fuses. Never repair any electricalapparatus, regardless of how minor the repairs seem to be.

    8. Footwear must completely enclose the foot. Management reserves the rightto impose further restrictions in any area based on particular conditions.

    9. Wear approved eye protection with side shields in all areas when required orwhere exposure to a hazard makes it necessary.

    10. The use of compressed air for cooling purposes or cleaning of clothing isabsolutely forbidden.

    11. Running anywhere on the plant premises is prohibited. Engaging inhorseplay, scuffling or throwing objects is strictly forbidden. Conduct yourselfin a safe manner everywhere within the plant and on company property.

    12. The use of defective tools, such as, mushroom-headed chisels, and punches,or tools with damaged or missing handles is prohibited.

    13. The operation of any powered vehicle or powered crane by anyone other thana licensed operator is forbidden. Licensed operators are to comply with thespecific safety rules covering that occupation.

    14. Any machine that does not operate safely, or causes an injury to anemployee, must be held for immediate inspection by supervision and theSafety Department.

    15. All persons enter a designated "Hearing Protection Required" area mustwear approved hearing protection regardless of length of stay or job

    assignment. In addition, any employee who has received a standardthreshold shift must wear hearing protection in areas of 85 dBA and above.

    16. Radios, tape or CD players equipped with headphones or earsets are notpermitted.

    17. No climbing above 6 feet without fall hazard protection where necessary.

    18. To prevent entanglement in equipment with revolving spindles, tools, stock, orother machine components, employees must never wear gloves, looseclothing, jewelry, or long hair that could snag or become caught in theequipment injuring the employee.

    19. No alcoholic beverages.

    20. No smoking, eating or drinking in designated areas.

    21. No open flames or cutting torch operations outside of maintenance areawithout prior approval.

    22. When operating any equipment there must be two people on the premises.
