General Studies HOW TO SEARCH FOR GENERAL STUDIES COURSES

First StepsStep 1: Login to MyASU and select the semester in which you plan to enroll.

Step 2: Select “Registration,” then Click “Add”

Step 3: Click “Search.” This will take you to the “Class Search” page.

Step 4: Select “Advanced Search” to the right of the search icon.

Step 5: Leave “subject” and “number” fields blank. Choose a location or leave blank to see all options (ASU Online students will see online classes only).

You may specify Upper Division, Lower Division, or Graduate level classes. Choose the appropriate General Studies (GS) category from the drop down. This will limit your search to a specific GS category. Click the search icon.

Step 5a: You can also search for Awareness Areas using the General Studies drop-down menu.

Step 6: You may click the title of a course to read a brief description and view pre-requisite requirements.
The “GS” column shows which general studies categories will be satisfied. This includes Awareness Areas, such as Cultural Diversity (C), Global Awareness (G) and Historical Awareness (H).

To add a class, click “Add.” This will take you to the Registration page.

Step 7: Verify it is the correct class and seats are open. Click the green “Next” button.

The class is now in your shopping cart. It will remain here until you proceed. Click “Proceed to Step 2 of 3.”

Step 8: Verify you’ve added the correct class and seats are still open. Click “Finish Enrolling”.

If a green checkmark appears, the class has been successfully added!
Final Steps
Return to your MyASU page. In the “My Classes” box, select the semester you wish to review.
You can now view your schedule, required books, and complete other tasks as needed.
