As I look back over the last four months I realize just how many events our Club has participated inso far this year.

Just to name a few there has been the recent CCRG meet in Santa Mariawhere our Club was well represented with 11 cars and 20 Club members,not bad! Before that there was the Notre Dame Pancake Breakfast, theGalpin Ford car collection tour, our Memorial tour in January, the ReaganLibrary tour plus a few others.

Don’t forget our old standbys: the Lamplighter lunch on Wednesdays, theladies' brunch at Mimi’s, the Bob’s Big Boy brunch each month, and lookingforward there is more to come. So try to join in and participate, it’s fun!

I read this message in the Ventura County Model “A” Ford Club’s newsletterwritten by their President, Richard Abbey and thought it was appropriate.

"For those of you who have not yet participated this year, I encourage you to join in on the fun. Evenif you don’t currently have a Model “A”, or yours isn’t roadworthy right now, we have lots of backseats to carry you along. Give me a call, and I’ll find you a ride! It’s okay to drive your modern caralong with us. The important thing is that you PARTICIPATE and enjoy the experiences.”

On a personal note , I want to say Thankyou to Merle and Vicki Ferdinand forthe waterless (spray-on) car wash

complete with polishing cloth for mynew Corvette. I must say that it does a

bang-up job, and it’s giving Whitney alittle additional exercise that she can use.

If you missed the last general meeting, you missed agreat presentation of Southern California car (racing)history. President Clark brought in a compilation oftruly home movies of racing at Harper Lake in the earlydays of SCTA. The home movies were from acollection taken by and for dry lake racer ClintSeccombe, who raced, among other vehicles a 1929Model A Ford roadster with a V-16 Caddy engine!After a couple tweaks to the distributor, it became quitethe competitor. The films were from 1939 / 1940 andthe “safety equipment” was sparse to non-existent. Justa bunch of young dudes out for the adrenaline rush.

Clark and Robin actually knew Clint from their church.Thanks for sharing Clint’s story with us.

You never know what’s going to happen at the generalmeetings. Show up.

BUT when it did, theyactually had specialshoes you could put onyour feet or sometimesOVER your shoes tokeep everything cozy anddry. They had them forladies, as we see in thepictures, but they hadthem for men, too. Iguess they liked dry feet.

Sergeant at Arms Jim Rummel led the flag salute at 7:30 p.m. at Galpin Ford in Van Nuys, Ca.

President Clark Pomeroy gave members a brief summary of the CCRG met. 11 carsand 20 people attended the event and had a great time.Tonight we have a video presentation on dry lake bed racing.Membership Stew Levin mailed out any rosters to members who did not receive themat the meeting.Robin Pomeroy won the members only drawing of $20.00

Tonight Jack who is the owner of Jacks Upholstery attendedour meeting and thanked members for their continued andpast business. Jack has attended our meetings on and off foryears and reminisces about his days with the club whenHank Sorney was still alive.Ladies Only gift was donated by Roberta Jacobs and won by Gerri Radman.Treasurer Stan Monheit briefly outlines our finances and has copies available for interested members.Tech & Safety Ron Mosher has brought some Model A parts for interested members and will displaythem at the break.Secretary Julia Mildenberger - no report tonight.Mike Sriro is asking members to please sign up and bring their cars to the Juvenile Diabetes Car Show.We have attended this fund raiser for several years and we only have 7 cars signed up to go this year.This is a very worthwhile event and in the past we have had much better attendance. We also get a free

lunch supplied by the event which will be held May 17th.Fashions Betty Salverson urges members who are going to attend the car show to please consider wearing era fashion.Editor Jim Lank would like to remind everyone that he would like articles for the newsletter three days prior to publication ifpossible. He normally tries to get the newsletter to press by the first of the following month after the meeting.Tours Harvey Jacobs outlines upcoming tours and lets members know what a great event the Santa Maria CCRG was.Diana Lohr reminds us that our blanket party is October 18th.Harry Hirschensohn brought three small Styrofoam ice chests to the meeting and asks members if anyone would like one. Hereceives medications in these and has them to give to anyone who might be interested.Mario Brossard was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and will be starting chemo in thenear future. Our prayers and thoughts are with you Mario.50/50 was $70.00 and was won by Chris HaynesThere were 41 people and 4 cars at tonight’s meeting.The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

Bob’s Big Boy Brunch April 18, 2015

Who’d have thought that such a simple trip as a meal at Bob’swould be so popular. Come on over and find out for yourself!To the left we see Alan B. desperately trying to explain to Steve K one fundamentaldifference between the Model A Ford and Steve’s 1964 Volkswagen - the location of theengine.

Our CCRG tour,

The CCRG meeting in Santa Maria was both enjoyable and informative.The tour started with a scenic drive up the Coast where we stopped atSummerland for breakfast and gas, then on up the grade to Buellton and ourfinal destination Santa Maria. That night we ventured over to Oceano for theoldest Mel-o-drama on the Central Coast.What a show! Well worth the 25 mile trek from Santa Maria.

Early Friday morning we were on ourway to Vandenberg Air Force Base where our host Larry Hill and tourguide Jay Prichard lead us on a tour of Space Launch Complex 10 where

Communication Satellites are launched on anupdated Thor missile. We also visited theirSpace Museum that chronicled the history ofVandenberg’s mission of placingcommunication satellites in space. Theamazing thing about this Complex is, that inthe height of the Cold War, in an effort toprotect the West Coast, this Complex wentfrom concept to first missile launch in just 8 months.

That day we also toured the La Purisima Mission where we learned what life was like in the Mission era inCalifornia. Then back to Santa Maria for a tasty BBQ dinner to end the day.

Saturday we headed down to Los Olivos for someshopping, wine tasting and relaxation. Then back toSanta Maria for the gala awards banquet.

Sunday we were up and on our way by 8:00AM andenjoying a pleasant trip home.

Next year you shouldthink about going to the CCRG, it was time well spentwith good friends.
