INTRODUCTION
Brian Wright and Associates currently hold a number of claims in
McGarry and McFadden Townships, Larder Lake Mining Division. A
geological mapping over the entire property and stream sediment
sampling program on claim 1180059 was completed during the
spring Si summer of 1993- This report will detail observations made
during this program and recommend future exploration programs to
be carried out on the property.
LOCATION. ACCESSIBILITY.
The claim block is located in the south-east portion of McGarry
Township and the north-central portion of McFadden. Larder Lake
Mining Division, District of Timiskaming, Ontario, Canada (figure l ).
Access to the property is by means of Highway * 66 approximately 5
kilometers east of Virginiatown then south on the Raven Lake Access
road to approximately 800 meters from the claim boundary of claim
unit 1180047. Other access routes to the property include an
overgrown logging road that crosses the entire property, various
a.t.v. and snowmobile trails that have been cut in the area, and
water access in available via Larder Lake.
LIST OF CLAIMS
The work was performed on the following claims : 1180047. 1180048.1180049.1180050,1180052.1180053.1180056. 1180057. 1180058. 1180059. 1187131.
CLIMATE. LOCAL RESOURCES
Climatic conditions are typical for this part of Northern Ontario.
Temperatures range from - 45 degrees Celsius to * 35 degrees
Celsius.
Water resources are available within the property. Mining supplies
and skilled human resources are available in Kirkland Lake and
surrounding communities.
The topography of the claim group is dominated by north-east
trending ridges made up of mensa and cuestas bounded by steep
terraced rock bluffs which rise 50 to 230 m above the level of Larder
Lake.
Timber in the area consists of Jackpine, poplar, birch and balsam.
Black spruce and tag alders occur in swamp poorly drained areas.

HISTORY OF THE CLAIM BLOCK
Despite being within a half a mile of a major gold mine (the Kerr
Mine ) the property has been overlooked in the past and little if any
exploration work has been completed on the property. The history of
the area in the vicinity of the present claim block is well documented
at the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines branch office in
Kirkland Lake. Table l outlines the chronological history of the claim
block and the adjacent properties.
Table l : History of the Property and Adjacent Properties
Year Company and Work Completed
1937 Highridge Mining Company Ltd. and Wesley Gold Mines
Limited controlled the property immediately north of the
present claim block. A total of 13 surface diamond drill
holes on their property were completed totaling 10,352
feet. The thickness of the Cobalt sediments above the
Archean volcanic basement was between 210 feet and
670 feet. All holes were drilled into the Northeast Arm
Shear Zone, Of importance is the fact that Hole * 6
penetrated the overlying Cobalt sediments and
intersected gold mineralization in the underlying volcanic
terrain that forms part of the shear zone. The gold
mineralization was logged as being associated with a well
mineralized quartz/carbonate-rich chloritic carbonatized
schist. This underlying mineralized schist yielded 0.18
opt gold across 19 feet including 0.29 opt across 8.2 feet.
1943 Larder "U" Island Mines Ltd. and Great Larder Gold Mines
controlled the property immediately west of the present
claim block. Prospecting, mapping, trenching and
diamond drilling were completed on their property. All
diamond drilling was confined to the Northeast Arm
Shear Zone. The thickness of the Cobalt sediments was
between 200 and 500 feet. Of importance is the fact that
hole * 3 penetrated the overlying sediments and
intersected anomalous gold values. The gold
mineralization was logged as being associated with a talc
carbonate schist. Also of interest is hole * 2 which
intersected gold mineralization in the Cobalt sediments
yielding up to 0. l opt gold across 2.0 feet,
1980-81 Placer Development Ltd. held a large portion of the
present claim block. Prospecting, mapping, geochemistry,
airborne radiometric survey, and diamond drilling were
completed on their property, a total of 4 drill holes
totalling over 3000 feet were completed east of the
current claim block. The thickness of the Cobalt
sediments above the underlying Archean volcanic
basement was between 670 to 960 feet.

1984-93 Mr. R. A. MacGregor holds the property immediately
northwest of the present claim block, several geophysical
programs were completed on his property. Sporadic
surface sampling yielded negligible gold values.
1991-93 Mr. Brian Wright staked the present claim block.
Work completed to date includes prospecting, stream
sediment sampling and geological mapping of claim
1180059 at a scale of l inch to 200 feet ( see back
pocket).
REGIONAL GEOLOGY
The regional geology has been adequately described by John
Hamilton in his 1986 Masters thesis as a " belt of Archean volcanic
and sedimentary rocks that form a northeast trending Subprovince
of the Superior Province of the Canadian Shield (M.E.R.Q. -
O.G.S.. ). It stretches for about 800 km across northern Ontario and
Quebec (figure 3 ). The Abitibi belt is bounded to the north by the
Opaticametasedimentary gneiss belt ( Card et al., 1981 ). and to the
south is covered by Huronian sedimentary rocks (figure 4 ) . The
western and eastern boundaries are the Kapuskasing Structural zone
( Percival and Card, 1985 ) in Ontario and the Grenville Province in
Quebec, respectively.
The western portion of the Abitibi belt that borders the Kapuskasing
Structural Zone is characterized by synclinal cusps, asymmetrical
linear belts and small outliers of volcanic and sedimentary rocks
which occur marginal to and suspended in large batholithic
complexes composed of quartzo-feldspathic gneisses and granitoid
rocks. Eastward in the Timmins - Kirkland Lake area volcano-
sedimentary supracrustal rocks dominate over granitoids. In the
central part of this area, the supracrustal rocks appear to be
distributed in a large basin, generally referred to as the Blake River
Synclinorium which is bounded by two major east-west trending
fault zones (figure 5 ). A similar broad anticline cored by the Round
Lake Batholith occurs to the south of the Larder Lake Break. Further
to the east, in Quebec, the belt of supracrustal rocks of the Abitibi
Belt widens and has been subdivided by Dimroth et al., into three
large geotectonic subdivisions called the internal Zone. External Zone,
and the Foreland ( Bellecombe Belt ) Zone. The Blake River
Synclinorium is included within the the Internal Zone ".
" Jensen ( 1978a ) has outlined two major volcanic cycles in the
Kirkland Lake district. Rocks of the older volcanic cycle are restricted
to the outer regions of the Blake River Synclinorium, occupying the
core of the Lake Abitibi Anticline in the north and the rim of the
Round Lake Batholith in the south. The upper volcanic cycle
dominates the central portion of the Blake River Synclinorium. The
entire stratigraphic section of the two major cycles is interpreted to
be at least 50 km. in thickness ( Jenson and Langford, 1983 ).
PROPERTY GEOLOGY
The geology of the claim group has been documented as being
entirely covered by Cobalt sediments of Proterzoic age. Mr. R. A.

MacGregor's property, located immediately to the west of the present
claim block, is also underlain by rocks of the Cobalt Group, Mr.
MacGregor, 1990 states that" The Cobalt Group consists of fine
grained greenish to greenish-grey greywackes to coarser grained
greenish to brownish arkoses to polymetalic heterolithic
conglomerates. The greywackes were observed to carry very fine
mud clasts in places. The arkoses are sand sized to coarser grading
almost to micro conglomerates in places. The conglomerates stand out
because of their variety and large clast sizes. Pink to whitish
granites, porphyries and greenish volcanics predominate, but bedded
siltstone, iron formation and greywackes were also noted. The
contact between the coarse conglomerate and finer grained
greywacke arkose appears to be quite sharp although many of the
contacts are obscured by overburden. The rocks appear to dip gently
to the east." The actual thickness of the Cobalt sediments on the
property has not been determined but drilling on nearby properties
would indicate a range between 200 and 700 feet.
Structurally, the claim block has been documented as being
underlain by a major northeast trending fault called the Milky Creek
Fault (Thomson. 1949 ) . Hamilton ( 1986 ) describes this fault or
secondary splay as part of a larger parallel system of shears referred
to as the the Northeast Arm Shear Zone (figure 6 ) . The Northeast
Arm Shear Zone continues northeastward off the property where it
sinistrally offsets the Larder Lake Break in the vicinity of the the
Kerr Mine. It also continues southwestward off the the property into
Hearst Township where it hosts several gold deposits. The
economically attractive gold deposits in the area are almost always
spacially associated along the Larder Lake Break or with secondary
splays off the main break (figure 7 ). These structures in all
probability, acted as conduits where the mobilization of gold bearing
fluids would migrate into structurally porous areas and could
eventually concentrate into significant gold bearing environment.
Other structures of interest on the property include two circular
depressions that may be the weathered expressions of kimberlite
pipes.
PRESENT WORK PROGRAM
The present work program of mapping and prospecting was designed
with the following objectives; To locate any possible Archean
windows on the property as reported by local prospectors
( Mandzuik 1980 ) . To determine possible Archean structures that
have a expression through the Cobalt cover. To investigate the
possibility of gold within the Cobalt formation. The entire claim
block was mapped at a scale of l inch to 200 feet with 400 foot line
spacing. A total of 10 stream sediment samples were collected and
are to be analyzed for kimberlite indicator minerals ( results pending
) . The results of this program are presented in the geological map
inclosed in the back pocket.
DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
The program did not provide the results anticipated but a more
complete understanding of the geology of the property was obtained.
The reported occurances of Archean rocks on the property could not
be located. These occurs were reported by the man who had logged
the area in the 1920's and it is possible that these rocks could be
flooded by beaver ponds. The probability that the Archean rocks
may have been float or do not exist on the surface of the property
seems to be the most likely scenario.
The Huronian rocks have been deposited under low energy
conditions and do not appear to be sorted well enough to concentrate
heavy minerals to produce paleoplacer deposits.
The stream sediment sampling failed to produce any indicator
minerals for diamonds but further work in this area is warranted.
A total of 10 samples weighting approximately 25 kilograms each
were hauled out of the bush and 5 were sent for analysis . Three
samples that were taken downstream from the suspected kimberlite
consisted of clay and were washed away in the screening process and
no concentrate was recovered. Two samples taken up ice from the
target did produce a concentrate but no indicator minerals were
recovered.
The completed program did not produce immediate results but the
location and structures on the property require further detailed
exploration. The best chance for an economic deposit to be
discovered is in the Archean Formations underlying the Huronian
rocks.
TABLE OF FORMATIONS Recent and Pleistocene

Archean- felsic to mafic volcanic and intrusive rocks
STRUCTURES AND MINERALIZATION
During the current mapping program the presence of a large parallel
fault and shear system was indicated or detected. The Milky Creek
Fault is evident in places along a large escarpment trending N 50 E
that more or less cuts the property in half. The movement or
displacement of this fault could not be determined from surface , To
the east of this fault a larger escarpment with up to 700 feet of
vertical distance occurs. This ridge has been previously called part of
the Milky Creek Fault System but appears to match up with the
Southwest McFadden Fault that has been identified to the south and
west of the property. To the west of the Milky Creek Fault there are
three parallel lineaments that may be the surface expression of some
underlying fault or shear system.
The present program did not detect any veins over six inches in
width but several veinlets were detected but were not considered
significant. A slight pinkish ( possible feldspar) alteration was
present with these veinlets.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE EXPLORATION
The prospecting and mapping failed to find any Archean windows on
the property or defined drill targets for gold mineralization. To
define possible gold targets on the property a systematic exploration
program has been proposed. The establishment of a grid system at
400 foot spacing, on the property will require 30 miles of linecutting.
Upon completion of the linecutting the property will be mapped at a
scale of l inch to 200 feet. Prospecting with a beep mat to locate any
possible near surface conductors should establish if any Archean
windows are present on the property. Geophysical surveys
recommended to be completed are a ground magnetometer survey
and a Maxi-Probe E.M. survey to locate any deep seated structures or
mineralization. Completion of this program should establish targets
for follow up diamond drilling.
Should the results of the indicator mineral sampling prove
encouraging a R. C. drilling program over the 2 possible kimberlite
targets is recommended.
CONCLUSIONS
The property is located in a favorable environment to host economic
mineral deposits but work completed to date has been insufficient to
establish drill targets. Further exploration on the property is justified
and should be implemented as soon as possible.
