Geometry Dilation Project (assigned November 5 th /6 th ) Objective: Students will be using a scale factor to make a sample of dilation using a real world object. Due: Per. 3 and 5: November 12 th 2015 Per. 2 and 6: November 13 th 2015 Direction: Choose one from the following Poster (working alone) 3D object (Can work with a partner) Find a magazine, drawing, cartoon, or a poster that you want to work on. Draw grids on the original and describe the size and numbers of the grid on the original. Come up with a scale factor and transform the original. Find a 3D object that you want to work on. (ex: cereal box, can, cup… etc) Measure and describe the original dimensions of the object. Come up with a scale factor and transform the object. Must include: The original picture with or without grids Transformed image must be bigger than 15x21 Separate sheet of paper with the measurement of the grid and dimensions of the original (must be typed) Scale factor must be greater than 2 Must include: The original object Separate sheet of paper with the measurement of the original dimensions of the objects (length, width, circumference, height… etc) (must be typed) Scale factor must be greater than 2 Example: Preimage: Transformed image Rubric: Criteria Possible Points Original object or image with its dimensions 200 Scale Factor, Transformed dimensions and its accuracy 200 Aesthetic 100 Extra Credit if it’s awesome enough to be on my wall (100) Total 500
