plantation, and slaves.

Revolutionary War

• George Washington was an important early American military leader in the Revolutionary War and later served as the first President of the United States of America.

• George Washington was appointed as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army by the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia

Loyalist or Patriot?

• George Washington was a patriot. We know this because he often expressed his displeasure with the British government(parliament) and king

• Also for the more obvious reason, that he was the commander-in-chief of the Patriot army

Did he survive

• Yes, George Washington survived the war to become America’s first president.

commission at the end of the war rather than capitalizing on his popularity to gain political power, even though many were calling for him to be crowned King of America.
