HIS IMPACT• George Washington's greatest effect on the world was when he resigned his

commission at the end of the war rather than capitalizing on his popularity to gain political power, even though many were calling for him to be crowned King of America.

• King George of England had this to say when he heard that Washington had resigned.

• "He is either the greatest man in the world or a complete fool!"

• This is how George Washington gave the US and the world its greatest gift.
