The historic canal system that runs through Georgetown is a study into map making and city layout. Noli points the direction that one would research in understanding the layout of a city but the people that reside with in the precenct often have a different point of view than that of the planner. The Museum that resulted from the study of the original maps of the city began to change when we interviewed the residents that live there. The need became one that the people of the community clamored for; a multi-use space that could be reconfigured to fit the need of the art on display or a meeting place for new events. The canal provides the history and the people provide the context that the history is to be applied.
