Members have access to all amenities, including the Teen/Senior Center, and receive a 15% discount on instructor-taught classes. Resident fees are available to individuals or families who live within the Georgetown City Limits, verifi able with a current state ID or an unpaid utility bill with current address. Nonresident memberships are also available.

Food and drink are not permitted in the gymnasiums, indoor pool or the sitter service room. Shorts and a shirt are appropriate exercise attire; proper swim attire is required for pool areas.

The Teen/Senior Center opened in May 2009 when the old Georgetown Recreation Center was renovated with a fresh, new look. Use of the Teen/Senior Center is included in a Georgetown Recreation Center Membership! Food & drink are not permitted in the computer lab, study room or game room.

Facility Age Limits Adult/Guardian must be at least 16 yrs of age!

Ages 1-7: Allowed general admittance only under the direct supervision of a parent or other adult, but never allowed in the weight/fi tness room or racquetball courts. This age group may stay in the Sitter Service while their adult/guardian uses the facility.

Ages 8-11: Allowed general admittance only with an adult/guardian on the premises, but never allowed in the weight/fi tness room or racquetball courts. Will be issued a membership card to check out equipment. May use racquetball courts with an adult/guardian.

Ages 12-13: Allowed to be dropped off without an adult/guardian. Not allowed in the weight/fi tness room. May participate in group fi tness classes except for indoor cycling. May use racquetball courts with an adult/guardian.

Age 14: May participate in all group fi tness classes. Permitted in weight/fi tness room only under the direct supervision of an adult/guardian. May use racquetball courts with an adult/guardian.

Ages 15 & up: Full facility access.

Need help with your workout plan? Personal training is available for $30 an hour for residents and $35 per hour for nonresidents, or for $45 per couple. $20 per extra person in a group (four max).

Ali Webb: Ali is an ACE certifi ed personal trainer and holds current certifi cations from AFAA, Mad Dogg Athletics & YogaFit. Her holistic approach to fi tness includes focus on muscular and cardiovascular strength and endurance, as well as fl exibility and relaxation. Leesa Hill: Leesa currently teaches Weight Training, Indoor Cycling, Cross Training, Water Aerobics and Running, and holds current certifi cations in each. She loves motivating people to improve themselves through exercise. Contact Leesa at (512) 413-0883 or [email protected].

Michael Krucenski: Michael is a certifi ed personal trainer and instructs self defense and kickboxing to men and women, along with group fi tness and boot camps. His sessions will incorporate a variety of workouts from Weight Training, Running, Kettle bell, Cycling, Kickboxing and Self Defense, to Aerobic and Anaerobic High Interval Cross Training. The class involves goal setting, nutritional information, measurements, boot camp inspired routines and RESULTS! Challenge yourself for your best year ever. Choose from early morning and evening classes. Classes are led by Cheryl Brinkmeyer and Jen Beaudet. Cheryl holds certifi cations in personal training and spin. This class, taught by certifi ed yoga instructor Sevika Linda Ward, is made up of stretching exercises, breathing techniques and deep relaxation. There is a pose, which affects every muscle, organ and gland in the body and is working on all levels of your being - physically, mentally and emotionally.

Class meets Fridays from 10:30 - 11:45 am. Please register before attending class each week.

All classes will be held in the computer room at the Teen/Senior Center with one of two instructors. When you come in for the lesson you’ll need to register and pay at the front desk before beginning the session.

Keeping Young Doing Senior Stuff (KYDSS)The KYDSS program is offered August-May. Meetings and trips are offered monthly. Participants attending the meeting have the fi rst opportunity to register for the trip. Costs of the trips vary, depending on location and admission fees of our destination. There are no mem-bership fees! Just come to the next meeting and join in!

Meet the Pros!Head Tennis Pro Pete PolkinghornPete Polkinghorn joined the tennis staff in May of 2009 as the Center’s Head Tennis Professional. A U.S.P.T.A. certifi ed Tennis Professional since 1980, Pete played for Westlake High School and later played under the guidance of Fred Kniffen at TJC in Tyler. His teaching philosophy centers on keeping things simple and fun for the students. “Simplifying the stroke mechanics for the beginning and intermediate players provide immediate results and a higher level of self confi dence for those players just entering the sport or those who have reached a plateau and need help moving to the next level”. Pete also has worked with a number of state and nationally ranked players.

Assistant Tennis Heather PrashnerA USPTA certifi ed tennis professional, Heather began playing tennis at age 9 in Austin, Texas. She was a top 10 ranked junior in Texas and played at the national level in girl’s 14, 16, 18 singles, achieving national rankings. She played Division I Tennis at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and graduated in 1985. Heather has taught at both private and public facilities. Heather recently returned to competitive tennis at the Women’s Open Level, achieving a year-end ranking of 6 in Texas for 2011. Heather currently oversees the Junior Program core classes, assists with the Adult Weekend Clinics, strings racquets, and is available for Private lessons.

Assistant Tennis Pro Daniel White Daniel is a full-time student at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, and is studying exercise and sport science. He will graduate in December of 2011 and continue his coaching career. Daniel played on the varsity tennis team at UMHB all four years and was team captain for the last year years. He is currently an assistant pro at GTC. Daniel began working as a summer camp counselor at the age of 16. He fi rst began playing tennis in 4th grade during ESE at McCoy Elementary. He continued his love for the sport by playing through middle school and high school. Daniel strings racquets and instructs both private and group lessons. He is the camp director for our Summer Tennis Camps.

Assistant Tennis Pro Lewis JacksonLewis fi rst began working at GTC in 2002 as a Tennis Assistant at the front desk. However, he soon found his calling onto the court and began teaching as an Assistant Tennis Pro in 2004. Often called “The Stroke Doctor” Lewis is known for his ability to break down individual strokes and focus on the basics. Lewis teaches private lessons for youth and adults as well as teaches an Adult Stroke Clinic during the week.

Hoops - Coed Youth Basketball Courses Hoops will provide essential basketball elements to help our participants become well-rounded players. Hoops will focus on the basics of basketball, including: offensive fundamentals, defensive fundamentals, ball handling, shooting, sportsmanship, and rules of the game. Hoops will enhance each participant’s skill and abilities to maximize his/her potential on and off the court. Hoops 101 is designed for grades PreK-2nd, and Hoops 201 is designed for grades 3rd-5th.

Fall 2011 Seven Week Course: Hoops will be held on Wednesday nights for 7 weeks. Hoops 101 will meet at 6:00 pm, and Hoops 201 will meet at 7:00 pm.

Elite Hoops- 3rd- 8th Grade NEVER BEFORE OFFERED! Elite Hoops will provide an enhanced focus on your child’s shooting ability. Digital pictures of your child will be taken at the beginning of the course in order to analyze his/her strengths and weaknesses as a shooter. Throughout the course, we will focus on form, technique and overall shooting ability. At the end of the course, the digital pictures will be retaken and your child will receive his/her pictures, along with an evaluation that will highlight his/her improvements, and a list of recommendations.

Fall 2011 Seven Week Course: This class will meet on Wednesday nights for 7 weeks at 8 pm.

Challenge CourseChallenge Course2011 Program of the Year, Texas Experiential Resources Association. Nestled among the trees lining the North San Gabriel River, the Georgetown Challenge Course uti-lizes play, adventure and fun in an outdoor setting. The basic focus of a challenge course program is teamwork, effective communication, and problem solving. The course consists of numerous low element activities, 22 high elements, parallel 350’ zip lines, and a 50’ climbing & rappel tower.

The ProgramBasic programs consist of a progression of activities and may be 4 hours, 6 hours or 8 hour sessions. Each session begins with initiative and low element activities before possibly progressing to highs. Two hour specialty clinics are also available such as rappelling and climbing clinics.

Based on the information we receive about your group, we then design a program based on your specifi c goals. Special EventsSpecial EventsOutdoor Family Workshop October 15-16, 2011 In partnership with Texas Parks & Wildlife, Georgetown Parks & Recreation is proud to offer Georgetown’s 7th Annual Outdoor Family Workshop. This workshop offers families the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors with the help of some trained staff. Families have a choice of a one-day workshop fi lled with hands-on instructional courses or a complete overnight camping experience. AquaticsAquaticsRecreation Center Indoor PoolThe indoor pool at the Recreation Center is a 25-yard competition pool. There are eight six-foot-deep lap lanes. There is also a three foot shallow end with water features and areas designed for swimming lessons. Our programs include water aerobics, lifeguard training courses and learn to swim classes.

Level 1/2 Ages 6-12 yearsThe foundation of the ARC Level 1/2 Learn to Swim program class is to give participants success with fundamental skills, including learning how to fl oat without support and to recover to a vertical position. This class will focus on front and back glides and fl oats, rolling from front to back and back to front, treading water using arm and leg actions, combined arm and leg actions on front and back, fi nning arm action, learning how to stay safe, including recognizing an emergency, knowing how to call for help, and performing simple non-swimming assists, learning how to stay safe in, on and around the water, learning what to think about and do when exhausted or caught in a dangerous situation. Level 3 Ages 6-12 yearsThe foundation of the ARC Level 3 Learn to Swim program class is to increase profi ciency and build on the basic aquatic skills learned in Level 1/2 by providing additional guided practice with increased distances and times. This class will focus on front, jellyfi sh and tuck fl oats, recovering from a front or back fl oat or glide to a vertical position, back fl oat and glide, change direction of travel while swimming on front and back, combined arm and leg actions on front and back, treading water using arm and leg actions, learning how to stay safe, including recognizing an emergency and knowing how to call for help, and learning how to stay safe in, on and around the water. All classes are held at the Georgetown Recreation Center.

Level 4 Ages 6-12 yearsThe foundation of the ARC Level 4 Learn to Swim program class is to develop participants’ confi dence in the strokes learned in Level 3 and to improve other aquatic skills. This class will focus on headfi rst entries from the side in compact and stride positions, swimming under water, feet fi rst surface dives, survival swimming, front crawl and backstroke open turns, treading water using two different kicks, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfl y, fl utter and dolphin kicks on back, learning to look carefully before entering the water, learning to perform simple non-swimming assists, and learning about recreational water illnesses and how to avoid them. All classes are held at the Georgetown Recreation Center.

Lifeguarding Ages 15 years & UpThe foundation of the ARC Lifeguarding program is to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries. This class will focus on understanding the value of behaving in a professional manner, learning how to identify behaviors of a swimmer, distressed swimmer and an active or passive drowning victim, understanding the components of an emergency action plan and how to activate it, understanding the general procedures for an emergency occuring in water or on land, demonstrating how to perform equipment-based rescues, learning how to provide fi rst aid and how to care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, and learning how to recognize and care for possible head, neck, and back injuries.

Birthday Parties at the Recreation Center!The Event Room at the Recreation Center can be rented out for birthday parties. This package will give you exclusive access to the event room for 2 hours and use of the indoor and outdoor pool. Please note that the Outdoor Pool use is seasonal. There can be up to 12 kids per group with a 20 person maximum. (Age restrictions for adult supervision does apply)

McMaster Athletic Complex RentalsThe McMaster Athletic Complex is located at 101 W. L. Walden Drive (east of San Gabriel Park). Softball fi elds are available for rent to private groups, individuals, and organizations for hosting their own tournaments that may not be sanctioned or affi liated with Georgetown Parks and Recreation.

The McMaster Athletic Complex consists of four softball fi elds of which two have 315′ fences and two have 300′ fences. All outfi eld fences are 8′ high and have 16′ crushed granite warning tracks. Each foul line has a 20′ yellow winged foul poles. The fi elds are illuminated with tournament quality lighting provided by MUSCO Lighting Inc. Other amenities include a concession stand, restrooms, playground, water feature mister, horseshoe and washer pits, covered seating and picnic areas all located on site.

McMaster Softball, Football & Soccer fi eld light fees are $20.00 per hour per fi eld. Lights must be turned on at least 15 minutes before sunset. 1-2 fi elds

Softball Field Prep (professionally drag and line to start the day): Field Prep must be submitted by the Wednesday before the rental. 1-2 fi elds is $25; 3-4 fi elds is $50.

No vehicles are permitted near the concession stand. All vehicles must be parked in designated areas in the parking lot. Fire zones and other illegal parking issues will be strictly enforced.

Recreation CenterThe Georgetown Recreation Center has multipurpose rooms and a gymnasium available for rental use during facility hours. The Event Room at the Recreation Center can be rented out for birthday parties. For more information on reserving the Recreation Center, call (512) 930-1711.

* Rec Center Gymnasium: The gymnasium can be rented during operational hours at a rate of $75/hour. There is a minimum of 2 hours/rental.

* Multipurpose Room: The Georgetown Recreation Center also has multipurpose rooms that are available for rental. These rooms seat up to 150 people for half of the room, and seat 300 for the full room. Amenities include A/V equipment, tables and chairs. Rental fees are as follows: $50/hour for half of the room or $100/hour for both rooms.

* Event Room: The event room at the Rec Center is a great place to host your next party! Please see page 36 for more details.

Reservations may be made up to one year in advance. The 6,950 square foot building has thecapacity for 440 people. Facility amenitiesinclude a kitchen, tables, chairs, restrooms, P.A.system, courtyard and barbeque pits.

Bark ParkBark ParkLocated at 151 Holly Street, the BarkPark is Georgetown’s fi rst off leash dog park. The Bark Park is situated on approximately six acres featuringseparate areas for small dogs (under 30 pounds) and large dogs.Beautiful pecan trees provide signifi cantshade for the area. Parking is available, as well as water fountains, benches andtrash containers for owners and their dogs.Be sure to read “Rules for Use” posted at the park or on our web site atparks.georgetown.org! Dog park hoursare daylight hours (sunrise to sunset).

Skate ParkSkate ParkLocated in San Gabriel Park, the park offers skater ramps, grind boxes, rails, half pipes and quarter pipes. The Georgetown Skate park is located at 449 E. Morrow, behind the Community Center next to the baseball fi elds. The skate park is open daily from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm. This is an unsupervised park. Skate at your own risk!

Park RentalsPark RentalsSan Gabriel ParkSan Gabriel Park is located at 445 E. Morrow, is shaded by 200 year old Oak Trees and has several pavilions that can be reserved for a nominal fee.

San Gabriel Park offers a nine hole disc golf course and a 1.6 mile granite trail around the park with additional miles of trail to Blue Hole Park, Rivery Park, and Booty’s Road Park which extends to Lake Georgetown.

Booty’s Road ParkBooty’s Road Park Pavilion is located at 1631 Booty’s Park Road. This

yypavilion accommodates approximately 130 people, offering handicap accessibility, water, electricity, grills and restrooms. There is ample parking available and the park has access to the Lake Georgetown trail as well as the City of Georgetown Trail that extends to San Gabriel Park.

Rivery ParkRivery Park Pavilion is located at 1448 Rivery Boulevard. This pavilion

yyaccommodates approximately 32 people and has electricity, water, grills, restrooms and parking available. There is a large Tree House playground for kidsand fi shing is permitted in the pond. The City of Georgetown Hike & Bike Trail and the 18 hole disc golf course are also accessible at this park.

Hike & Bike TrailsThe Georgetown Parks & Recreation Department has nearly nine miles of hike andbike trails along the North and South San Gabriel Rivers. There is a 1.6 mile granite loop around San Gabriel Park.

On the North San Gabriel River, there is a 4.5 mile trail that goes from San Ga-briel Park to Booty’s Road Park. On the South San Gabriel River, there is a one mile lighted trail that starts at Walden and College Streets and goes to Blue Hole Park.

The City of Georgetown’s San Gabriel River Trail was designated a National Recreation Trail by the U.S. Department of Interior in 2006. For map information,please visit our web site at http://parks.georgetown.org.
