AUDITABILITY AND REPEATABILITY All mine designs in the Advanced Underground Designmodule are created by following a logical, easy to useand visual design process that utilises a owchart-drivenapproach. System users dene the parameters for eachelement of the design, which are then saved in a securedatabase. This ensures that designs are both auditableand repeatable.

DESIGN AUTOMATIONThe Advanced Underground Design module offers mineplanning engineers more control with its staged designprocess. With the module, design parameters are turnedinto a “live” mine design in Surpac that can be constructedas Surpac data types, as complete or partial designs.Additionally, the module’s design environment and processesfree mine planners from mundane tasks, allowing more timeto be spent optimising designs and testing alternatives.

LINK DESIGNS AND SCHEDULESThe Advanced Underground Design module is integratedwithin Surpac and MineSched. This enables users tolink designs and schedules while applying MineSchedparameters such as densities, proles and priorities. Inaddition, designs can be scheduled directly in MineSched,incorporating MineSched auto-precedence logic.

REPORTING AND ANALYSISThe Advanced Underground Design module enables minedesigns to be compared by applying modifying factor

formulas from MineSched schedules. It also permits theanalysis process to be audited as the parameters for dataextraction can be stored and reviewed. Using this capability,best practice templates for mines and mine sections canbe developed.

WIDE APPLICABILITY Underground Design can be used in design development onany underground mine layout, including:• Narrow reef/seam conventional mining.• Narrow reef/seam mechanised mining.• Conventional long hole open stoping.• Mechanised retreat long hole open stoping.• Cut and ll operations.• Sub level caving.• Block caving.

Designs are executed and generated in Surpac and, once completed, areready for scheduling with MineSched.
