Seussical the Musical
How AMAZING was our production of Seussical the Musical! It has been great hearing all the positive feedback from parents and the community. I was absolutely blown away by the obvious talent of our students, the support shown by our parents and community and the dedication of our staff to put together such a professional, exhilarating performance. I will once again make special mention of the amazing Mrs Johns for her huge effort in coordinating the show. Her commitment and passion for our school is something we should all be grateful for.
NAPLAN 2019
NAPLAN is an assessment of literacy and numeracy standards for our students in Years 3 and 5. It offers a snapshot of how our students are performing against the rest of the state and similar schools. This year, our results have been phenomenal. I am so proud of the students and staff for the extra hard work they have done to lift the standard of literacy and numeracy teaching and learning at our school. Some key highlights of our NPLAN data this year include:
Above state average growth in 4 of the 5 measureable NAPLAN areas.
Above state average results in Year 5 numeracy
Above our Statistically Similar Schools in Year3 and Year 5 Numeracy, Reading, Spelling and Grammar and Punctuation.
I am looking forward to unpacking these results with our community to share what our ongoing priorities will be in 2020. I will announce a time date for this in the near future.
Report Writing Review
We have recently sent out information regarding a Reporting to Parents review. The note with more information, including a link to the parent survey is included in this newsletter. It is important that our reports are beneficial to parents and that they are a purposeful, useable document. Please contact myself or Mrs Brown if you have any further questions about this process.
Kindergarten 2020
A reminder that we are still taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2020. If you know someone who lives in our school zone with a child starting school next year, please remind them to contact the school. A flyer with more information about transition is contained in this newsletter.
Have a great fortnight Nathan Forbes Principal

Wow what an absolutely amazing term it has been! It started with us heading to Glendale High to perform The Gruffalo for the ILLA Excellence Awards. All the students were very nervous but super excited to perform to such a large audience. Then we travelled to China!! Mrs Mantle looked the part as the air hostess and we all boarded the plane with our boarding passes. We were given refreshments in the Qantas plane after we watched the safety message from the Captain. We arrived in China and had a delicious meal at The New Shanghai restaurant. We tried dumplings, noodles, prawns, satay beef and spring rolls. We even tried some traditional green tea. Mrs Gorman was a visitor to our classroom to tell us about her interesting trip to China. A big highlight was performing in the school musical where we made great birds and fish!! We all loved learning the songs and dancing on stage. We have been learning to write informative text and we had so much fun writing a factual description of the crime scene when Humpty Dumpty was pushed off the wall at our school. I think we have some budding detectives amongst us!! We are continually wanting to move our learning forward by trying to achieve our learning goals and giving feedback to our peers. Mrs Mantle is always saying how proud she is of us and how we are all superstars! We can’t wait to see what is in store in Term 4!

REQUEST FOR ALL SCHOOL MAINTENANCE LOCAL TRADES PROVIDERS AND
SUPPLIERS
The NSW Government has committed the largest investment in planned maintenance at public
schools in the history of NSW. A record $1.3 billion is being spent on an ambitious delivery
program, focused on employing local businesses and contractors across the state.
To assist in addressing regional school maintenance issues and at the same time
provide work for local trade’s persons and suppliers across the Hunter/Central Coast
regions, over $100 million is being invested to upgrade and maintain our school
Infrastructure.
Given this record spend by School Infrastructure NSW, you are invited to an Asset
Management Unit industry breakfast briefing. This will provide information to existing and new
contractors on how you can get involved.
To find out more by attending our Industry breakfast register at
