Harmony Day On Thursday, GEPS students were involved in the celebration of Harmony Day. It is a day celebrat-ing our wonderfully, diverse and rich culture, a day about inclusiveness, respect and having a sense of belonging. The students were able to try a variety of wonderful International cuisine served up by our dedicated staff. In the classroom, students were engaged in a number of activities revolving around Harmony Day. Parent Teacher Interviews Parent teacher interviews will be conducted in Week 9. This is an Important opportunity for parents and carers to discuss their child’s educational experiences with their teacher. Easter Celebrations The 2019 Easter Hat Parade will take place on Thursday 11
th April. A separate note has been sent
home explaining the mornings timeline. If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s teacher. We look forward to seeing you there!

Message from the Relieving Principal
Harmony Day
We can’t believe it is Week 8 already in 1/2M! This term we have been busy deciding on our Personal Learning Goals for reading, writing, maths and a personal goal. Students have brought their goals home to discuss with you and strategies we are working on to achieve them. This term there has been a big focus on Visible Learning, especially in writing. Students are looking at the success criteria of the level they are working towards, for example, include describing words in my writing, and attempting to include that in their writing. We have a WAGOLL wall at the back of our room which shows examples of the four different levels. Students are thoroughly enjoying giving feedback to each other’s writing using a concept called ‘Star Star Wish’. We give 2 positive comments and 1 comment on what they think their peer could do better with next time in writing. Photo We started STEAM groups last week and 1/2M were learning to use Beebots with Mrs Ariizumi. In the coming weeks students will be involved in doing science experiments, creative and critical thinking activities and creative outdoor activities. For those parents still not on the Seesaw app, I strongly encourage you to add it to your phones. It is a wonderful way to stay in touch with your child’s learning as I try to upload activities as much as possible. Also it is a good way (as well as email) to get in touch with me if you need anything. Again I’d like to say how absolutely thrilled I am to have your child in my class. We are having an
absolute ball getting to know each other!!
