Neuschwanstein CastleThe palace was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, and
was opened to visitors after the king died in 1886. Over
61 million people have visited it. The palace was the
inspiration for Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Over 200
rooms were
planned to be
built, but only 15
were ever
finished. Many
rooms are still
bare brick on
the inside today!

Berlin WallGermany was defeated in
World War II (1939-1945).
After that it was divided into
two countries- East Germany
and West Germany. The Berlin
Wall separated the two sides.
People were not allowed to
cross the wall. In 1989
Germans were happy when the
wall was taken down and people
could visit the other side. Now
Germany is one country again.

help children transition from being

kindergarten, German parents give
their children a Shultute. It is a big
