development
Project familiarisation and route options development March 2006 – August 2007
The following list summarises consultation activities conducted during proposal familiarisation and the route options development phase conducted between March 2006 and August 2007.
The distribution of community updates in March 2006, September 2006, January 2007, April 2007 and July 2007.
Community workshops were held at:
- Berry School of Arts, 3 May 2006 (6pm-8.30pm)
- Gerringong Town Hall, 4 May 2006 (6pm-8.30pm)
- Bomaderry RSL, 9 May 2006 (6pm-8.30pm)
Information stands were held at:
- Queen Street, Berry 6 May 2006 (10am to 1pm)
- Fern Street, Gerringong 13 May 2006 (10am to 1pm)
- 63 Meroo Street, Bomaderry 20 May 2006 (10am to 1pm)
A planning focus meeting with representatives from various agencies and stakeholder groups was held in September 2006.
Property access letters for field investigations were sent in January 2007.
Community information sessions were held in
- Berry School of Arts, 20 February 2007
- Gerringong Town Hall, 21 February 2007
- Bomaderry Community Hall, 22 February 2007
An interest group workshop was held at Berry School of Arts 19 April 2007.
Individual meetings with local councils, local Aboriginal representatives, Chambers of Commerce, and other local interest groups were held
Establishment of project office in Berry in July 2007.
Specialist information sessions held at Berry Agricultural Pavilion, 11 August 2007
Establishment of a 1800 free call number.
Establishment of a project email address.

Route options display November 2007 – July 2008
The following list summarises consultation activities conducted during the route options display
period conducted between 26 November 2007 and 29 February 2008.
Courtesy phone contact with potentially directly affected landowners one day prior to the public announcement of shortlisted options.
Media announcement of shortlisted options.
Advertisements were placed in local papers the week commencing 26 November 2007.
28 page community update booklet distributed to approximately 14,000 properties in the study area.
Mail-out conducted during the week commencing 26 November 2008 to potentially directly affected property owners.
Correspondence during the week commencing 26 November 2008 to stakeholders registered to receive proposal updates.
Individual meetings held with potentially directly affected landowners.
Group meetings held with potentially directly affected landowners.
Berry project office staffed with project team members and displaying a topographical model of the study area and options. The office was open to all community members from Monday, 26 November to Friday, 21 December 2007.
Unstaffed displays at: Shoalhaven City Council, Kiama Fair and Nowra Fair through to 29 February 2008.
Project website included facility to complete a feedback form online.
Toll free community information line.
Mail-out in January 2008 to all residents within the study area and on the registered on the proposal mailing list advising dates, times and location of consultation activities.
Berry project office staffed with project team members and displaying a topographical model of the study area and options. The office was open to all community members from 10 January 2008 to 29 February 2008 each Thursday and Friday
Staffed community displays at Kiama Fair and Nowra Fair shopping centres beginning 31 January 2008.
Advertisements were placed in local papers the week commencing 7 January 2008.
Community information sessions were held from 10am to 3pm and included 3-D animated drive throughs of each option and route. Information sessions were held at:
- Gerringong Town Hall, 2 February 2008
- Berry School of Arts, 9 February 2008
- Bomaderry Community Hall 16 February 2008
A community and stakeholder workshop was held on 22-23 February 2008 at the Gerringong Town Hall.
Targeted focus group workshops, covering issues related to agriculture, business, environment and community. With the exception of the general community workshop, attendance at all workshops was by invitation. The workshops were conducted at the Berry School of Arts on :
- 20 February 2008 – Agriculture
- 20 February 2008 – Business

Route options display November 2007 – July 2008

A route options value management workshop was held with key stakeholders and community members in Gerringong on May 14 – 16, 2008.
Mail-out in July 2008 to all residents within the study area and on the registered on the project mailing list.

Access options display October 2008 – November 2008
The tools were used to provide the community with information about the options for access to Gerringong, consultation events and opportunities to comment on the access options from
13 October 2008 until 13 November 2008.
Courtesy phone contact with potentially directly affected landowners one day prior to the public announcement of the access options.
Media announcement of the access options.
Advertisements were placed in local papers the week commencing 13 October 2008.
17 page community update booklet distributed to approximately 14,000 properties in the study area. Included reply paid feedback forms for Gerringong access options.
Staffed displays were held at:
- Berry project office, Monday to Friday from 13 October to 13 November 2008
- Gerringong Town Hall from Monday 13 October to Friday 17 October 2008
- Saint George‟s Anglican Church, Gerringong 18 October 2008
- Berry project office, Saturday 18 October 2008.
Community information sessions were held at
- Berry Agricultural Pavilion, Wednesday 22 October 2008 (5pm to 8pm) and Saturday 25 October 2008 (9am to noon)
- Gerringong Town Hall, Thursday 23 October 2008 (5pm to 8pm)
- Gerringong School Hall, Saturday 25 October, 2008 (1pm to 4pm).
Mail-out conducted during the week commencing 13 October 2008 to potentially directly affected property owners.
Correspondence during the week commencing 13 October 2009 to stakeholders registered to receive proposal updates.
Individual meetings held with potentially directly affected landowners.
A meeting with a group of Gerringong residents proposing an alternate access option was held on 20 October 2008.
Static displays were held at the Shoalhaven City Council, Kiama City Council and Kiama Library between 13 October and 13 November 2008.
Project website included facility to complete a feedback form online.

The access value management workshop was held in Nowra on 18- 19 November 2008 with key stakeholders and community members.

The following list summarises consultation activities conducted during the final preferred options and access arrangements display period conducted between 15 June 2009 and 26 June 2009.

Media announcement of the finalised preferred option and access arrangements.
Eight page community update booklet distributed to approximately 14,000 properties in the study area.

A staffed display with maps of the preferred option and 3D animations of the access arrangements was held at the Berry project office from Monday 15 June 2009 to Friday 26 June 2009, Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and Saturday, 20 June 2009 10am to 2pm.
