FAQ / Summary

▪ Is the purchase of a SAP Cloud Appliance subscription in the SAP Store required?

– The SAP Business One solution is available as developer edition and doesn‘t require a subscription

▪ Is a license for SAP Business One and SAP HANA required?

– SAP Business One has a 31 and SAP HANA has a 90 days trial license. A “Development system” license must be imported promptly

▪ Will there be a demo database available or must it be created?

– A demo database of United Kingdom/ Ireland will be in place per default

– Further localized demo databases can be imported using an “import tool” out of the windows desktop

▪ Which passwords are used?

– The password entered during the creation of an instance will be used as a master password for various users (e.g. Administrator in Windows)

– The SAP Business One demo databases have per default “manager“ as user and password

▪ Are costs involved if an instance isn’t used for a month?

– Costs are involved in volumes (hard disks) only, which are $12,70 per month in the sample calculation (see slide 3)

▪ Is it possible to limit the runtime of an instance to save costs?

– It’s possible to define a scheduled runtime of an instance, on which weekdays the instance should be started and suspended

In addition it’s possible to set a date for the termination of the instance

– The runtime of an instance can be set individually at each start

▪ Can customers deploy a SAP Business One instance in the SAP Cloud Appliance Library under their costs?

– Yes, since 20th of March 2019, the SAP Business One solution in CAL is directly available to SAP Customers as well

▪ Is it feasible to create multiple instances within one SAP CAL account?

– Each employee/ user needs to create an own SAP CAL account. The same public cloud credentials can be re-used for all accounts

Working with AWS for the past 6 years

Many of our customers use AWS for hosting SAP Business One both on MS-SQL and SAP HANA

as database platform.

Customers like AWS because they don’t have to manage the infrastructure which is not their

business.

They spend no money or time in managing the physical infrastructure. Customers pay as per their

usage. Reserved instances with cost savings are also available.

Used it for a POC with a prospect where the outcome was uncertain. All you need is a credit card to

start.

I didn’t want to spend thousands of $ on procuring physical infrastructure ,installing and configuring

them. Wanted a ready platform which could be launched in minutes. No technical knowledge on

Linux, HANA or AWS /Azure/ GCP required.

The usage was irregular. Somedays we don’t use it, and sometimes we use it for 6-8 hours. We

wanted to pay for what we use. Few minutes is all it takes to start the instance.

Paid per hour for SAP Business One 9.3 version on HANA , we can choose the sizing on storage

as required. Back-up option available in case if you want to store the data.

The instance comes preloaded with SAP trial licenses. Ideal for POC and development projects.
