Matching Gifts are a great way to leverage a large donation (or a large pool of smaller donations) to engage donors to give more.
● Organizations who used the matching tool raised on average 4.5x more donations than those who did not.
● A matching gift is a cash or check gift that you designate to use in a very specific way during Abilene Gives. They can come from a business, your board, or a pool of donors! It’s never too early to start securing a match.
● GiveGab’s Matching tool offers the ability to set up a 1:1 match, or donor and dollar challenges. Every gift made by a donor has the ability to multiply through this functionality!
● As live donations are made, your matching gift contributes to your totals
● If you’re thinking about setting up a match on your Abilene Gives profile, write in to the little blue chat bubble for best practices and guidance! We’ll make sure it’s set up correctly.
Matching Gifts
● Prizes will be awarded throughout the day on May 5th to encourage giving
at various times.
○ For example, “The Breakfast Club” prize of $1,000 may be awarded to
the nonprofit that receives the most unique gifts between 8 a.m. and
9:30 a.m.
● The Foundation will again secure amplification funds to award to each
participating nonprofit based on the amount they raise.
○ For example: CFA secures $50,000 in amplification dollars, total raised
during the day $500,000, NPO #1 raises $25,000 (or 5% of the total of
the day), NPO #1 receives an amplification of $2,500 (or 5% of the
amplification funds).
