‘SQA Analysis and Links to Learning and Teaching’ and ‘Interpretation Guidance 2012’.

There are also materials on the ScotXed website to help users interpret the statistics.

Reports Important NoteThese are interim reports, and will be replaced once we have all the corrected data from Scotxed.Please note the following:-

There are no 2012 data for ungraded courses such as Access 3 and Skills for Work. The NCDs, RV and PV for Higher Mathematics will be minimally affected by the small number of

Gaelic language candidates who may have been included by ScotXed in this first release of STACS. The final STACS values may therefore differ slightly.

We are unable to generate the S6 Cumulative report.

What’s NewNo changes have been made to the style and content of the S5 and S5/S6 reports. More detailed information about this report is provided in the document Interpretation Guidance 2012.

Data SourcesThe major source of data for the reports is the STACs online system published by SGED. We also rely on a further set of data that are only provided by ScotXed as additional data files. A limited number of statistics are derived from candidate level data that have been provided by SQA to schools and authorities for the generation of the August reports and are combined with the candidates stage and gender data provided by schools via the LA. For example, the scatterplots that are included in course reports are created from such data and are not identical in appearance to those published on the STACs system.
