1. the beginning
This manual is for your operating the ‘Manage product information’ and the ‘Manage
substance information’ at GHS Mixture Classification System in importing and exporting.
2. Import / export product information
You can import /export your product information in text format (TSV format) for your GHS
Mixture Classification by using this system.
When importing a product information, the ingredients information for the product which should
be imported must be registered as chemical substance information in advance.
If the product not registered, first, you should follow the section "5.2.1 Registering Chemical
Substance Information" in the operating manual or "Import of product information" mentioned
later in this manual.
2.1.The follow of product information import
(1)Check the substance number for the product ingredient
(2)Create a text file (TSV format) to import the product information.
(3)Import the text file (TSV format) to import the product information.
2.2. Import of product information
2.2.1 Checking the substance number for the product ingredient
(1)Click on the ‘ Manage substance information’ in the GHS Mixture Classification System Menu
to get chemical substance information display.

(2)Search a substance included in your product ingredient information, and leave the ‘Substance
number’ at the cell in the Substance information list.
Leave all substance number included in your product ingredient information at the Substance
information list.
2.2.2. Creating text file (TSV format) to import product information.
Creating a text file to import the product information in Excel format is more convenient.
In this book, it is explained how to create your text file in Excel format.
A text file to import product information should be created as follow;

Comment
■Information about the version of import file
Put ‘1.0’ of half size of character for your information about import file version.
■Item number
In case of inputting data parts, the item number would be essential.
Large: Enter a sign showing its type of information. When importing product information, only the
‘P’ and the ’S’ will be specified.
P:Basic product information
S:Product composition information
Midium: Enter Serial Number of large item.
When the large is ‘P’, the 1 to 3 will be fixed.
When the large is ‘S’, enter the serial numbers equivalent to the number of the product
information from the ‘1’
Small: ‘1’ is designated number at the product information.
■Data part
Product Number : It should be blank when registered first time.
Specify the product number when updating the registered product
information.
User control
number :
Enter the arbitrary control number (only half size of character and number
is acceptable.)
Product name : Enter the product name to be registered.
Judment rule : Enter ‘ UN’ or ‘JIS’ in capital letter with the half size of character for the
rule of GHS Mixture Classification.
UN number : Enter the number in the half size.
Physical state : Enter one of the information about ‘air ,’’solid’,’liquid’ and ‘aerosol’.When it is blank, the Physical state will be registered as ‘air’.

Flash point :
Enter the information in the half size of character and number. (decimal
point is acceptable.)
Initial boiling
point :
Enter the information in the half size of character and number. (decimal
point is acceptable.)
Kinematic
viscosity :
Enter the information in the half size of character and number. (decimal
point is acceptable.)
Remarks1-4 : Enter other information at the Remarks.
It separates columns for each row. ‘1~4’ mean the number of row .
Substance
number : Enter the number left in the Substance information list.
Enter the half-width numbers of 11 digits and zero padding.
CAS number : Enter the half-width number and half size of ‘-‘.
When importing, the CAS number left at the ‘Substance number’in the
substance information list will be registered.
Substance name : Enter the chemical substance name.
When importing, the substance name left at the ‘Substance number’ in the
substance information list will be registered.
Content : Enter only the half size of number.( decimal point is acceptable.)
Unit symbol is not acceptable. For example,’ %’.
Source : Enter the source registered at the optional setting in this system.
An example following the formats in above.
【NOTE】
When entering number in an Excel format, put an single quote (‘ ) at the head of number to
prevent to get the ‘Version number’, the ‘Product number’ , the ‘Substance number’, and the ‘CAS
number’ converted automatically.
【Reference】
Repeat entering the large item ‘P’ ~’S’ except the version information after the first product
information inputting.
Save the product information you created as text file (in TSV format).
Click on ‘Save as’ →’other format’. (Excel 2007)

Choose the ‘text (tab delimited, TSV)’ in the file type.

Put the file name to save , and click on ‘Save(S)’.
The display with warning comment, the file type you chose does not support the book including
some sheet , will show up.
Click on ‘OK’ to go on.
Next, you will get the message about non-interchangeability .Click on ‘Yes(Y)’ to save.
The Excel file to import product information is saved as text file in above process.

2.2.3. Import of a text file to import product information
Importing the created text file to import the product information in above into the system .
(1)Click on ‘Manage product information’ in the GHS Mixture Classification System Menu
to get the product information display.
(2) Click on ‘Import’ in the Product informaion list.

(3)When the product information import display coming up, click on ‘Browse’ to get the import file
you created. And click on the ‘Product information import list’.
(4)You will have the’ product information import list ‘to check your import result.
You can see the number of successfully imported.

If you had one ‘Failed’ and more, click on the ‘Error details’ to get the error information file.
Choose the storage place for the error file and click on ‘Save(S)’.

The file saved has the details about import errors, check the massage and fix the data .
Try to import the file again.

2.3 Export of product information
Exporting the registered product information into the text file (TSV format) .
And based on the exported file, it is possible to register the new information or to change the
registered information
(1)Click on ‘Manage product information’ in the GHS Mixture Classification System Menu to
have the product information list .
(2)Search the product information to export. Put a check mark at the ‘Select’ , and click on
‘ Export’.

(3) Click on ‘Browse’ to choose the save location.
After exported without any probrem , the following massage will show up.
In case of the product information classified, the exported file will have the result in two kinds of
rules, JIS and UN.

S:Product composition information

When the large is ‘P’, the 1 to 3 will be fixed.
When the large is ‘S’, enter the serial numbers equivalent to the number of the product
information from the ‘1’
When the large is ‘D’,’H’,’E’,’T’, one set of the number and the hazardous item .
It is necessary to put the number corresponding to each items.
Small
When the product was classified in Specific target organ toxicity (single exposure or
repeated exposure), The same number of classified organ and exposure root will show up
from the 2.

■The data part
Items in the classification result will be added.
Item : Hazardous item in GHS classification will be shown.
Classification result : Each classification results in hazardous item will be shown.
Basis1-n : The Basis for classification result will be shown.
When there are some rows ,enter‘1’in each rows.
Specific target organ toxicity : In case of the classification result is 「Yes Category」
1.In the sub-item「1」, the basis for the classification result will
be shown after 「Yes Category」 .
2.After the sub-item「2」, each classifications will be shown
And target organs and exposure route will be shown next.
3. (Whether categories are the same or not,) When there are
multiple targets for organ toxicity; they will be displayed in
different lines with their category, targeted organ and
exposure route information.
In case of the results is “Classification not possible” or “Not
classified”,
1.In the sub-item「1」,Classification will be shown and the
basis for the result will be shown next.

3. Import ・Export of chemical substance information
You can import and export chemical substance information as ingredient information of a product in
text file (TSV format) by using this system.
By importing and exporting , you can update the registered information and register new
information.
If you are managing the data of plural chemicals in the Excel file format (1 substance per line
format), please use the GHS Chemical Substances Information TSV Conversion Tool.
3.1.The follow of chemical substance information import
(1)Check the substance number for the chemical substance information.
(2)Create a text file (TSV format) to import the chemical substance information.
(3)Import the text file (TSV format) to import the chemical substance information.
3.2. Import of product information
3.2.1Checking the substance number for the the chemical substance information.
(1)Click on the ‘ Manage substance information’ in the GHS Mixture Classification System Menu
to get chemical substance information display.
* Repeat entering the large item「P」-「T」 except the version information after the first product
information inputting.
* When registering the same chemical substances with different sources:
Will repeatedly enter "Source P-4-1" and items after that.
* When using the GHS Chemical Substances Information TSV Conversion Tool:
There are limits on remarks field, classification basis and specific target organ toxicity, and
when the limit is exceeded, it is required to enter the excessive data manually after converting
it to chemical import text file. Also, please remove the unnecessary empty fields.

(2)Search a substance included in your product ingredient information, and leave the ‘Substance
number’ at the cell in the Substance information list.

3.2.2 .Creating text file (TSV format) to import the chemical substance information.
Creating a text file to import the product information in Excel format is more convenient.
In this book, it is explained how to create your text file in Excel format.
A text file to import product information should be created as follow;
Compared to the text file format to import product information, GHS classification results and
toxicological information are added.

Put ‘1.0’ of half-width numbers for your information about import file version.

In case of inputting data parts, the item number would be essential.
Large: Enter a sign showing its type of information.
P:Basis information of substance
D:Physical hazards Classification results
H:Health hazards Classification result
E:Environmental hazard Classisification result
T:Toxicity value
Note: If Large item is "P", the number is fixed 1 to 5.
Medium: Enter Serial Number of large item.
When the large is ‘D’,’H’,’E’,’T’, one set of the number and the hazardous item .
It is necessary to put the number corresponding to each items.
If the hazardous item doesn’t have its number, the classification will be registered as a blank.
Small: For all items, put the number from the 「1」. However, in case of the product is classified as
‘Specific target organ ‘, put the serial numbers from「2」 corresponding to the number of
classification.
■Data part
Substance number : When registering first time, it should be blank.
When updating the chemical substance information about the
registered substance , enter the substance number to be udated.
CAS number : Enter the CAs number to be registered.
Substance name : Enter the chemical substance name to be registered .Essential.
Equivalency factor : Enter the half size number(decimal point is acceptable)
Oxygen eqivalent
coefficient : Enter the half size number(decimal point is acceptable)
pH Enter the half size number(decimal point is acceptable)
Maximun

(1) Click on the ‘Manage substance information’ in the GHS Mixture Classification System Menu
to get chemical substance information display.
(2)Click on ‘ import ‘ in the Substance information list.

(3)When the product information import display coming up, click on ‘Browse’ to get the import
file you created. And click on the ‘Substance information import list’.
(4) When the ‘substance information import list’ showing up, check the result of import.
You can see the number of data imported without any problem at the ‘Successfully’ in the
window.

If you had one ‘Failed’ and more, click on the ‘Error details’ to get the error information file.
Choose the storage place for the error file and click on ‘Save(S)’.

3.3 export of the chemical substance information
Exporting the registered chemical substance information into the text file (TSV format) .
And based on the exported file, it is possible to register the new information or to change the
registered information .
(1)Click on ‘Manage substnace information’ in the GHS Mixture Classification System Menu to
have the chemical substance information list .
(2)Search the chemical substance information to export. Put a check mark at the ‘Selct’, and
click on ‘ Export’.

3) Click on ‘Browse’ to choose the save location.
After exported without any probrem , the following massage will show up.
The exported file is following;
Exported file format is the same as the chemical import text file format.

4. Importing the exported result of the product information into the chemical substance
information.
In case of using the classification result from this tool as one substance included in another
mixture, you can use the exported result of the product information as the chemical substance
information by importing.
The method to compile an export file is following;

the details of items.
