GHUSBC 2012 OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT RULES
The GHUSBC Open Championship Tournament Rules shall be enacted by the GHUSBC Board of Directors. The tournament shall be governed by the playing rules, Chapter 6 in the USBC Playing Rules Book, in addition to the rules adopted by the GHUSBC Board of Directors. The game to be played shall be the game of American Tenpins and shall consist of a four member Team event (no ratio) and a Singles event with optional All Events “Handicap and/or Scratch”. Participation shall be confined to GHUSBC members. Three consecutive games shall be bowled in each event. Divisions shall be as follows:

*Each bowler on a Senior Team must be 55 years of age on 6/22/12 Scratch Champions will be recognized in each event
HANDICAP: 90% handicap shall be given to all bowlers figured on a base average of 240 for Team, Division 1 Male and Female, 190 for Division 2 Male and 175 for Division 2 Female. TOURNAMENT AVERAGE: All references to average shall include averages established in USBC certified leagues and /or USBC certified youth or collegiate leagues. All others shall bowl scratch. Highest average to be used whether bowled as a regular member or a substitute. Entering average shall be determined as follows:
A. The highest average of twenty-one or more games in the 2010 – 2011 season, regardless of where bowled. If the average was established in an association other than GHUSBC, it shall be the bowler’s responsibility to obtain written verification of their average from the association where it was established. VERIFICATION SHALL ACCOMPANY ENTRY. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INDIVIDUAL BOWLER TO USE THEIR CORRECT AVERAGE.
B. If no 2010 – 2011 average, use the highest 2011 – 2012 winter season average of at least 21 games. C. If no 2011 – 2012 winter season average, use highest 2012 summer average of 9 or more games as of date of participation. Written verification must be provided to
participate. D. If the bowler does not come under any of the above categories, the bowler shall bowl scratch. E. Rule 319a.2 (Ten Pin Rule) and 319d (Reporting Prior Prize Winnings) shall be waived.
ENTRY FEE: Team entry fee shall be $20.00 per bowler and Singles shall be $20.00 per bowler. The optional All Events fee shall be $5.00 Handicap and $10.00 Scratch. All Events will consist of Team and Singles scores only. Entries postmarked after June 22, 2012 are subject to lane availability and will be assessed an additional $10.00 per bowler. Only those bowlers paying the All Events fees shall be eligible for the All Events Handicap or Scratch cash prizes. The highest Scratch All Events score in the tournament (whether entered in All Events or not) shall determine the local champions. There shall be no refund of entry fee after the schedule has been compiled. Paid All Events are not transferable unless substitute replaces original entrant in both events and the transfer is made by the tournament management prior to the substitute’s participation in any event. There is no limit to the number of times a member may participate in the Team event. In order to place more than once in the prize list at least two players in the lineup must be different. Participation is limited to once in the Singles event. When two or more Team events are bowled, the highest series shall be used to determine the All Events score. ATTIRE: Entrants are expected to wear suitable attire. No “cut-offs”, tank tops, sleeveless shirts, midriffs or clothing with offensive language/pictures will be allowed. All decisions made by the Tournament Manager are final. PRIZE MONEY: Returned 100% at a ratio of at least 1 in 6.
