The Order of the Imitation of Christ (OIC) referred to as Bethany Order was founded by Servant Of God, Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios OIC in the year 1919. Among its various apostolic activities, Education is one of the priorities. Education is seen as an effective tool in the transformation of individuals leading to a better society.

Girideepam had its very humble beginning in 1975 with a dozen tiny tots in a room attached to Bethany Ashram, Kalathipady, Kottayam. The ardent fervor of the Bethany Fathers and their far reaching vision, synchronized with social commitment helped the school to grow by leaps and bounds. Its story is one of amazing, fast growth in its pursuit of excellence.

Girideepam Bethany Senior Secondary School which presented its first batch of SSLC students in 1987 was upgraded to a Higher Secondary School in 2002.
CBse
Girideepam Bethany Central School established in 1997 is an off shoot of Girideepam High School. The CBSE stream presented its first batch of AISSE(X) in 2001 and AISSCE (XII) in 2003. Both the Schools share the same campus in separate building complexes. The commendable results in both the streams in the Board Examinations have placed Girideepam among the top ranking CBSE schools in the country.

Applications are issued from November but it is possible to seek entry during the course of the academic year, need based. Admissions are open in both State Board and CBSE from LKG to IX and XI, and under special circumstances to X and XII. Entrance Tests and Interviews are mandatory.

Senior Secondary applications in CBSE and State Board may be obtained online or from the respective offices between 8.00 am and 3.00 pm even prior to the declaration of results. Admissions are formalized only after the declaration of Std X results. The filled up application forms should be submitted along with the photocopy of the marks (available on the Net). There will be interviews.

the girideepam all India Basketball, Volleyball Interschool tournament for boys and girls is organized and conducted by the school every year. It is a grand three day programme popularly known as the girideepam trophy and is a major event in the girideepam annual calendar. the tournaments which were initiated 25 years ago in the year 1991 form an integral part of the school culture. It has produced a number of state and national players excellent, teams from over 40 institutions participate on invitation and we are truly proud of our own teams which year after year generally ensure that the final trophies are retained by them. Our Basketball, Volleyball teams which receive professional coaching through out the year are our pride and symbols of prestige. Intercollegiate tournaments are also hosted by Girideepam. Our floodlit concrete courts, covered indoor stadium with seating capacity for 5000 form the perfect venue for the varied tournaments.
