    THE 3 CARDINAL FIREARMS SAFETY RULES

    1. AlwayshandleafirearmasifitisloadedEvenifyoudeterminethatafirearmisunloaded,always,always,alwayshandleitlikeitISloaded.Whenyouhandleafirearm,thefirstthingyoushoulddo(withthefirearmpointedinasafedirection),isopentheactiontoidentifywhetherthefirearmisloaded.Ifyoudonotknowhowtoopentheaction,donothandlethefirearm.Andremember,removingamagazinealonedoesnotmakeafirearmunloaded,astheremaybearoundinthechamber.

    2. Alwayskeepyourfingeroutofthetriggerguardandoffthetriggeruntilyouarereadytoshootyourtarget

    Donotplaceyourfingerinsidethetriggerguarduntilyouhaveplacedafirearm’ssightsonyourtargetandhavedecidedtofire.Thebestplacetorestyourfingerinthemeantimeisabovethetriggerguardalongtheframe.Bywaitinguntilyouareaimedatyourtarget,ifthetriggerweretobepressed,youwillguaranteethatashotwilltravelsafelyinthedirectionofyourintendedtarget.

    3. Alwayskeepafirearmpointedinasafedirection,beforeandbeyondyourtargetItisimportanttoidentifyyouractualtarget,butitisjustasimportanttoknowwhatliespastandbeforeyourtarget.Asafedirectionisanydirectionwhereanunintentionaldischargeormisswillnotcauseinjuryordamage.Indeterminingasafedirection,rememberthataroundcanricochetoffanobjectlikeafloor,waterorwall,orgothroughwalls,floors,ceilings,andwindows.Whetherinahouseoroutdoors,thesafestdirectionisthemuzzleangleddowntowardthefloor.Andneverpointatorcrossthemuzzleofafirearm(loadedorunloaded)atanypartofanyperson’sbody—the laser rule!

    ALWAYS KEEP CHILDREN AND OTHERS SAFE BY STORING FIREARMS SECURE AND AWAY FROM UNAUTHORIZED PERSONSYoushouldalwaysstorefirearmsandammunitionoutofthesightandreachofchildrenandanyoneelsewhoisnotanintendeduserornotphysicallyormentallycapableofhandlingandusingthemproperlyandsafely.Storefirearmsinasafestorageplace–ideally,oneyoucanlock.

    CAREFULLY READ THE ENTIRE INSTRUCTION MANUAL THAT COMES WITH YOUR FIREARMYoushouldonlyuseafirearmifyoufullyunderstandhowtosafelyoperateit.Allfirearmscomewithaninstructionmanualcreatedbythemanufacturer.Ifthefirearmdoesnotcomewithaninstructionmanual,contactthemanufacturerdirectlyandrequestone.

    ALWAYS DETERMINE THAT THE FIREARM IS SAFE TO OPERATEBeforeshooting,makesurethefirearmisingoodworkingorder,thatthebarrelisclear,andthatthefirearmissafetooperate.Thisisespeciallyimportantwhenhandlingafirearmthathasbeenstoredorunusedforalongperiodoftime.

    ALWAYS USE CORRECT AMMUNITIONNeveruseimproperorincorrectammunition.Onlyuseammunitionthatisrecommendedbythefirearmmanufacturerthecaliberofyourfirearm.Mostfirearmshavethecaliberengravedorstampedonthebarrel.Yourammunitionshouldhavetheexactsamecaliber.Ifyouusetheincorrectammunition,itcandestroyafirearmandcauseseriousinjury.Additionally,itvoidsyourwarranty.

    WHENCLEANINGAFIREARM,MAKESUREITISNOTLOADEDOneofthemostcommonstatementsfollowinganaccidentaldischargeis:“Iwascleaningthefirearmanditwentoff!”Whenyoucleanafirearm,makesureitisnotloaded.Youshouldkeeptheammunitioninanotherroomuntilyouhavefinishedcleaningthefirearmandarereadytoreload.

    NEVER USE FIREARMS WHILE USING DRUGS OR ALCOHOLWhenyouhandlefirearms,yourjudgmentmustNOTbeimpaired.YoushouldNEVERhandlefirearmswhileundertheinfluenceofalcohol,illegaldrugsorwhileusinglegalprescriptionmedicationthatcanmakeyoutiredoraffectyoursenses,reflexes,orjudgment.

    USE EYE AND EAR PROTECTIONAlwayswearpropereyeandearprotectionwhileshootingfirearms;earprotectionwillhelppreventhearinglossfromtheextremedecibellevelofgunfire,andeyeprotectionwillhelppreventejectiongases,ricochetedobjects,casings,oranyforeignobjectsfromdamagingyoureyes.Besmart,besafe.

    LockingSystem:MostGİRSANpistolsaresemi-automaticfirearmsoperatingontheshortrecoilprinciple.Thisactionisprovidedbytheslidemovingtotherearandthebarrelmovingdownonceunlocked.Theothersystemutilizedistherecoiloperatedsystemwherethebarrelisfixedandtheslidemovesrearwardoncethebarrelpressuredrops.

    LoadedChamberIndicator:Whenaroundischambered,theextractorheadprotrudesfurtherfromtheslidebreechandexposesaredwarningtab.Inthedark,thisprotrusioncanalsobefeltbytouch.Thismakesitunnecessarytopullbacktheslidetoverifyifthechamberisloaded.

    6. OPERATING SYSTEM

    Thismodeloperatesontheblow back recoil operating system.Theslidenevertrulylocks,butitsmassholdsitinplacewhilefiring.Theenergyoftheroundforcestheslidetotherear.Duringthisrearwardmovement,theslideextractsandejectsthefiredcartridgecase,cocksthehammerandcompressestherecoilspring.Undertheforceoftherecoilspring,theslidethenmovesforward,feedingthenextcartridgefromthemagazineintothechamber.Theslidestaysopenafterthelastcartridgeinthemagazinehasbeenfiredandejected.

    WARNING

    Donotapplyforcetothepistolwithanyobjectwhilehandling,cocking,disassemblingorcleaningthepistol.

    7. HOW TO USE THE PISTOL

    WARNING

    Keepyourfingeroutsidethetriggerguardandoffthetriggeruntilyouintendtofire.

    BEFORE SHOOTING• Withthesafetyon,thepistolcannotfire.Setthesafetylever“on”byslidingtheleverup(Picture1).

    • Priortouse,besurethatthechamberisemptyandthebarrelisfreefromanyobstructions(Picture2).

    • Ifyoudonotintendtofirethepistol,keepyourfingeroffthetrigger.

    FUNCTION CHECKS• Besurethatthepistolisunloadedandthemagazineisemptybeforestartinganyfunctionchecks(Pictures1and3).

    SLIDE AND BODY FRAME CHECKS• Releasethemagazinebypressingthemagazinereleasebutton(Picture4).Pulltheslideallthewaytotherear(Picture5).

    • Whiledrawingtheslideback,makesuretheslidemoveseasilyonthebodyframeandcocksthehammer.Ifthehammeriscockedwhenyouretracttheslide,pullthetriggerandchecktoensurethehammerdecocksproperly.

    • Afterinsertinganemptymagazine,repeatthesameaction.Theslidewillstaylockedopenintherearposition.

    TRIGGER AND SAFETY LEVER CONTROLS• Aftercockingthehammer,pullthetriggertocheckifthehammerfallsmakinganaudibleclick.

    • Withthehammercockedandthesafetyleveron,checktobesurethehammerwillnotfallwhenthetriggerispulled.

    TARGETINGThesightalignmentiscreatedbyarrangingthefrontandrearsightsonthesameline.Ensurethereisequalspacingoneithersideofthefrontsightwhenviewedthroughtherearsightandthatthetwosightsarelevel.

    WARNING

    Afterthefirstshot,thepistolisautomaticallyloadedandthehammeriscocked,thepistolisreadytobefiredagain.Ifyoudonotintendtofireagain,keepyourfingeroffthetriggerandsetthesafety/decockingleveronsafe.

    SHOOTING IN SINGLE ACTION MODE• Pointthepistolatthetarget.• Rotatethesafetyleverdownwithyourthumb.

    • Whenyouarereadytofire,cockthehammer(Picture6)andpullthetriggertofire(Picture7).

    SHOOTING IN DOUBLE ACTION MODE• Pointthepistolatthetarget.• Rotatethesafety/decockingleverdownwithyourthumb.Ifthehammerisdecocked(Picture8),pulling the trigger completes the firstactionofcockingthehammercompletelyandthesecondactionoflettingthehammerdropandstrikethefiringpin.Thisiswhatismeantbyadoubleactiontriggersystem.

    • Afterthefirstshot,thepistolfiressequentialroundsinsingleactionmode.Thelongerandheavydoubleactiontriggerpullisconsideredasafetyfeaturebecauseitalsohelpsreducethelikelihoodofanunintentionaldischarge.

    • Afterthelastroundinthemagazineisfired,theslideremainsopenandlockedtotherear(Picture9).Tocontinuefiring,removetheemptymagazineandinsertaloadedmagazine.

    • Presstheslidereleaselever,orpulltheslidetotherearandreleasetheslidetoloadthechamber(Picture10).

    8. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING• Makesurethatthepistolisunloadedbeforestartingmaintenance.• Ifthepistolisnotunloadedfollowunloadinginstructions(seeUnloading the Pistol, page17).

    • Maintenanceofthepistolshouldbedoneaftereveryshooting.Themaintenanceandcleaningkitprovidedwiththepistolincludestwocleaningbrushes,oneramrod,andoil.

    DISASSEMBLY OF THE PISTOLMakesurethatthepistolisunloadedbeforedisassemblyofthepistol.• Takethemagazineoutbypressingthemagazinereleasebutton.

    • Pressthedisassemblylatchreleasebuttonwhichprotrudesfromtheleftsideofthepistol(Picture11).

    • Whileyouarepressingthebutton,rotatethedisassemblylatchontherightsideoftheframe90°counterclockwise(Picture12).

    ASSEMBLY OF THE PISTOLAssemblethepistolfollowingthedisassemblyprocedureinreverse.Payattentiontothefollowingpoints:• Setthesafety/decockingleveroff.• Theslideshouldrestperfectlyflushagainstbarrelandtheejectormustsettleinitsgrooveintheslide.

    • Therecoilspringguideheadshouldlodgeinthecenterofitsgrooveinthelockingblock.

    • Whenrotatingtheassemblylatch,theslideneedstobefullyback,theassemblylatchbuttonpushed,andtheswitchrotatedup(clockwise).

    9. REVERSING THE MAGAZINE RELEASE

    Itisrecommendedthatagunsmithorarmorerisusedforthisprocedure.

    Lefthandedshooterscanchangethemagazinereleasetotherightsidebyfollowingtheinstructionsbelow:• Unscrewandremovethegripswithaproperscrewdriver(Picture24).Pressthebackofthemagazinereleasebuttondownfromtheflatside(Picture25).Themagazinereleasebuttonassemblywillthendropout.

    • Reversethemagazinereleasebuttonassemblyandinsertthebuttonofthegroovedsideintoposition,tiltingitslightly.Holdingthebuttonfromthegroovedsideofthemagazine,pressitsflatsideandpushituntilitclicksintoplace(Picture26).Theoperationisdonecorrectlywhenthemagazineslideseasilyintoitshousing.Replacethegripswithscrews.Donotovertighten.
