“The Return from Being Broken” John 21:15-17

Pastor Wayne Sneller 9:30 a.m. August 9, 2020

How can I come back to a relationship with Jesus Christ after failing him in my faith walk?

The Bible teaches us how to handle the disappointment we have with our-selves by recording how Jesus led Peter through this experience that would remove the cloud of Peter’s denial.

We experience this reconciling act of forgiveness by:

1. ________________ that God is with me. When we are hurting we often forget where God is. “The Lord is close to

the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in Spirit.” Psalm 34:18

Three things to remember when you are in pain: - God is _____________ - God _____________ - God will ______________ you out

2. ______________ the hurt. “Lord you know everything. You know that I love you.” John 21:17 Let it _____. How? I must stop focusing on what was _________ and

start focusing on what is __________. 3. ______________ on God’s resources. God uses three things to renew us: 1. God’s ___________ – Fill your mind with scripture. Psalm 119:25, 52 says, “I am completely discouraged…receive me by your Word. Your Word has been my comfort.” 2. God’s __________ – We _______ each other. “The God of all com-forts, comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 3. God’s ________________ - The Holy Spirit is called our ________________. - When you invite Jesus Christ into your life, you put that _______________ of comfort into you! Application: Failure doesn’t ________ you from being part of God’s family. Your story is still being written! The only way that failure can get the last word in our life is if we choose

to let it. We serve a God who is able to take our ________and _________ and still use us to bring glory to his name!
