finale of Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail.
The overwhelming response to the first ever national art trail has been truly remarkable. From the initial generosity of national sponsor Arnold Clark, to the moment the first sculpture was placed on its plinth, thousands of locals, tourists and families have been thrilled to discover these exceptional representations of
Scotland’s favourite son.
Tonight’s auction is your last chance to take home one of these truly unique works of art. Proceeds from this evening’s auction will provide Glasgow Children’s
Hospital Charity with vital funds to ensure that the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland’s busiest children’s hospital receive the best possible
care. We rely on donations to fund enhanced medical equipment, family support services, research and the play programmes that can transform a child’s hospital journey; with every bid, we can make an even greater difference to the lives of
these children and their families.

Oor Billy2Oor Billy is a tribute to Glasgow comedy legend Billy Connolly. The sculpture design is bright, colourful and fun...what Billy is all about! It depicts his life - from his early days working in the Glasgow shipyards, to his boots from the ‘70s and his dungarees from the ‘80s. His shirt is based on his appearance in ‘An audience with…’ from 1985, his purple beard and moustache from the early noughties and the purple tinted glasses he wears today.

Island Wullie5Oor Wullie is painted a marbled blue colour with outlines of the islands and coasts drawn in gold. The sculpture shimmers like the water. The bucket is wound with reclaimed fishing rope, representing the beach cleans the children help with in Skye and surrounding areas.

with help from staff and the hospital Play Team, Oor Hospital Hero Wullie embodies everything that makes our children’s hospital extra special. Oor Wullie’s dungaree scrubs represent our hospital heroes who go above and beyond for our young patients each day. His rainbow front pocket and colourful new locks are inspired by the fun of our hospital play programme, and in true hospital tradition, Oor Wullie’s stookie has even been specially signed by our young patients!

Oor Andy9Oor Andy is a synthesis of Oor Wullie and Scotland’s most famous tennis player, Andy Murray. He wears the flags from his beloved home country on his legs and his prized Olympic medals around his neck. His racket is ready in his back pocket and the features on his bucket create a window into his natural habitat – a tennis court.

Oor CharlesOor Charles sees Oor Wullie become one of Glasgow’s most renowned artists and designers, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. In addition to reimagining Oor Wullie as the famous architect, sitting upon one of his famous furniture pieces, the design includes plenty of nods to his work including stained glass windows, pattern design, architecture and interiors. His jacket also mirrors the brickwork on one of Mackintosh’s most important works - The Glasgow School of Art.

Steampunk Wullie17Scotland, particularly Glasgow, is well-known for its engineering and construction skills, and Steampunk Wullie is a tribute to that creativeness, ability and industry. Steampunk Wullie is an artificer - he makes things and fixes things. He’s all prepared with lots of tools in his leather bandolier and pockets. A tear in his overalls reveals that he is actually part machine - made from iron girders.

Oor Nature22‘Oor Nature’ was designed with Scottish greenery in mind, appreciating the environment we live in. With a boxwood bush in the shape of Oor Wullie and various Scottish wildlife featured, the design also touches on the typical items which can also be found in hedges and bushes when out for a walk in the Scottish countryside, adding a hint of humour to the design.

Inspired by the Duke of Wellington statue in Glasgow City Centre, Wullie The Rascal comes complete with a cone on his head - a much-loved Glaswegian tradition that has delighted onlookers for many years. The sculpture was designed by amateur artist Stewart Small who enjoys exploring all mediums of artwork.

Metal Oor Wullie has been forged with 450 ‘Oor Wullie’ steel stencils, 200 ‘Bucket Trail’ steel stencils and 2,000 pieces of rectangular steel, which have been welded together to recreate the iconic features of Oor Wullie. Marcus Hislop has been running an art studio in Bridgeton for a few years working under the name of The Notorious Gasoline Company. Working in various media, he creates bright, bold art based on popular cultural icons. Alongside his abstract work, Marcus aims to create artwork that appeals to everyone.

Wee Wullie Winkie33Wee Wullie Winkie is a reference to the famous Scottish nursery rhyme ‘Wee Willie Winkie’ written by Glaswegian William Miller. It sees Oor Wullie dressed in his nightcap and pyjamas, sitting on his bucket, which depicts the Glasgow skyline at night. He is stretching his legs after waking from a long night’s sleep.
