Vintage dresses never lost their charm. The magnifi-cence of retro dresses has not either. People still love these clothes not for how they had been designed, but for how they would look now, in this day and age, where the world of fashion has no limits. Back in the 1960’s, when a flurry of changes swept the fashion industry off its feet, the pref-erences of the youth got the center stage, since then, peo-ple associate everything they like or do with fashion. This was a good reason for fashion enthusiasts to instil old fash-ion craze in younger genera-tions. Although the big shots are just climbing on the craze and style of vintage dresses, people did not stop identi-fying with these yesteryear trends. In fact, it is coming back to where it had original-ly started. People are thinking about revisiting the world of retro dresses just to celebrate dance, music, pop and par-ty culture which one would typically associate these cos-

tumes with. So, if you would like to search for true dresses having that punch that yester-year costumes had in them, you need not worry. You can easily find an assortment of dresses that match your re-quirement, no matter how unique your taste is. Although vintage is a broader term, the quality of its trend and style has been here for so long that one would just want to find some compelling designs with cool patterns. After all, it’s a freaky idea to put these retro dresses on, and jump on to the dance floor. Show them what you got. Be sure to turn some heads around. More than how they liked your dress, they would acknowledge your knack to stand apart. Who knows, they may think you deserve a cool token of ap-preciation for having put on some cool clothes on such a celebratory occasion. As ex-pected, everybody who feels awed by the charm of these evergreen dresses would find it extremely difficult to see

this feel-ing sink in. Need-less to say, you may be bask-ing in the l i m e l i g h t as soon as they glimpse at you from top to bottom. Show them what you got. Who knows, they may think you deserve a cool token of appreciation for having put on some cool clothes on such a celebratory occasion you from top to bot-tom. Styling yourself is not a big deal now. Though the term vintage dresses or the retro dresses is a very broad and generic description of something that is more fash-ionable, scores of people long for the right dress that embel-lishes their appearance. It’s an honor to be beautiful to look at while wearing dresses that set the fashion. Though the term vintage dresses or the retro dresses is a very broad and generic description

There seems to have been an influx of inquiries about hair extensions and hair quality this past year. A lot of re-tailers have expressed concern about inconsistency and delays. Many of them have been propositioned by overseas factories promising easy so-lutions and wonder if they could do better by striking out on their own. But the hair business is not that sim-ple, and salon owners and wholesale hair suppliers who have attempted to buy directly have encountered a new world of confusing hair terminology where nothing is as it seems. Pur-chasing human hair on your own may appear to be a simple process, but it quickly turns into a daunting task of sorting out trade names, trendy brand name and varying hair grades. Most people give up the idea in the early stages and admit a new respect for the wholesale hair suppliers they have been taking for granted. Chinese Hair (aka Asian Hair): This type of hair is a thick and coarse fiber that is natu-rally straight and dark brown to black in color. However, as an educational service and perhaps a warning I’d like to offer a brief primer on the advan-tages and disadvantages of each type of hair including the Remy and Non Remy hairs and explain the cost dif-ferences and the reasons for them. I’ll also answer the question, “As long as it feels good, looks good and doesn’t tangle, why do I care about where the hair has originated from?” When I’m done, you too will appreciate the be-hind the scenes negotiating and con-trol that is provided invisibly day in and day out by your current importer. The first question all new customers ask is where did the hair extensions and hair pieces come from? They want to know about the geography. that explained everything: So here it is and thank you for the suggestion. We are going to classify human hair as follows.

When the weather turns cool and crisp, it’s time to get back to serious fashion. Fall is fashion at its best and the magazine pag-

es inspire us to amp up our style. Red is the breakout color this year and it’s showing up not only in dresses and sweaters, but the surprise new must-have piece- red skinny leg jeans. Yes or no is a personal choice. Shades of terracotta, from pale blush to deep persimmon, have a fresh look this year. A chunky knit turtleneck in a baked terracotta shade is so flattering to everyone’s skin tone. Added to the usual fall colors of mustard, brown and hunter green are the unexpected brights like yellow, purple and blue definitely mood elevators. Polka dots are a surprise pop of whimsy.Putting on the glitz came way pre-holiday this year. There’s sparkle and shimmer on anything and everything, even boots are awash with sequins. Stones and glitter adorn hats, gloves, tee shirts and sweatshirts to glam up the unexpected. Leggings and jeggings have really caught on. Teamed with an over-size sweater or peasant blouse and a tall pair of boots, they are as comfortable as a sweat suit for lounging and/or a stylish outfit for a weekend brunch date. Singer Leona Lewis has become the first British artist to debut at number one in the U.S. album charts. The 23-year-old made history Wednesday after her first album Spirit hit the top spot in the U.S. Her chart-topping success comes just weeks after becoming the first British female solo artist in 21 years to top the U.S. singles chart. Former receptionist Leona is the protege of American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who has taken charge of her career since she won British talent show, the X Factor in 2006, where he is also a judge. In February 2007 Lewis signed a £5 million (US$9.7 million) five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis’s record label, J Records, and showcased for several American music executives. A press release described how Cowell and Davis would work together in a “first-of-its-kind” partnership on both the song and producer selection for Lewis’s debut album, entitledSpirit. Lewis recorded tracks for the album in London, Miami, Los Angeles, New York City, and Atlanta, where she worked with several songwriters and record producers including Dallas Austin,Walter Afanasieff, Salaam Remi, Steve Mac, Stargate and Ne-Yo. It was released in November 2007 and entered both the Irish Albums Chart and the UK Albums Chart at number one, becoming the fastest-selling debut album in both countries, and the United Kingdom’s fourth fastest selling album of all time. It was released in several other nations in January 2008, and went to number one in New Zealand, Australia, Austria, Germany,

South Africa and Switzerland. Two more tracks were recorded in 2008 for the US release of the album: “Forgive Me”, produced by Akon, and “Misses Glass”, produced by Madd Scientist. It was released in the United States in April 2008 and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1, making Lewis the first British artist to reach number one with a debut album. A special edition of Spirit was re-released in November 2008 in Europe, including the songs “Forgive Me”, “Misses Glass” and a cover of the Snow Patrol song “Run”. The album again went to number one in the UK Albums Chart. To date the album has sold over 6.5 mil-lion copies worldwide and has a 9× platinum certification in the UK. Lewis’s second single, “Bleeding Love”, produced by Ryan Tedder and written by Ted-der and Jesse McCartney, was released in October 2007 in the UK, where it sold 218,805 copies in its first week, giving it the biggest first-week sales of 2007 to date. It entered the UK Singles Chart at number one, where it stayed for seven weeks, and in the Irish Singles Chart it remained at number one for eight weeks. It reached number one in the singles charts of New Zealand, Australia, France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria, Canada and the United States. “Bleeding Love” won The Record of the Year in Decem-

ber 2007. In February 2008, “Bleeding Love” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 85 and then went on to peak at number one for four non-consecutive weeks. The song became the first track by a UK female to reach number one since Kim Wilde’s “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” in 1987. Lewis’s third single, a double A-side featur-ing “Better in Time” and “Footprints in the Sand”, was released in the United Kingdom in March 2008, in aid of Sport Relief, and she visited South Africa for the charity. The single reached a peak of number two in the UK singles chart selling over 40,000 copies in its first week of physical release. “Better in Time” was released as Lewis’s second single in the US, where it peaked at number 11 in the Billboard Hot 100. “Forgive Me” was re-leased as Lewis’s fifth single in November 2008; it reached number five in the UK. “Run” was released as a download-only single in the UK, reaching number one, and becoming the UK’s fastest-selling download-only single with 69,244 copies sold in two days Lewis’s last single from Spirit, “I Will Be”, was released in January 2009, only in North America; it peaked at number 66 on the Billboard Hot 100. In August 2008, she performed “Whole Lotta Love” with guitarist Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin at the 2008 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in Beijing, representing the handover to London as the host of the 2012 Summer Olympics. In September 2008, she joined several female singers to perform a single for the anti-cancer campaign Stand Up to Cancer. The single, titled “Just Stand Up!”, was performed live during the one-hour telethon that aired on all major US television networks. Lewis received three nominations for the 51st Grammy Awards in December 2008. “Bleeding Love”

was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Spirit was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album. She was nominated for four BRIT Awards, in the categories British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act, British Album for Spirit, and British Single for “Bleeding Love”, but despite being the favourite to win the most awards, she received none. She won two awards at the 2008 MOBO Awards: Best Album for Spirit and Best Video for “Bleeding Love”. In December 2008 Lewis was named ‘Top New Artist’ byBillboard magazine. Lewis’s second album, Echo, was given a worldwide release in November 2009. Production took place throughout 2009, including work with Ryan Tedder, Justin Timberlake, Max Martin, Arnthor Birgisson, Kevin Ru-dolf, and John Shanks. It was recorded in Los Angeles and took nine months to produce. Lewis described the album as “more guitar-driven” compared to Spirit. Lewis performed her first full UK show at the Hackney Empire in London on 2 November 2009, performing songs fromSpirit and Echo. Echo reached number one in the UK Albums Chart and the top ten of Austria, Ireland and Switzerland. Despite previous attempts from Lewis’s lawyers to ban the release of Best Kept Secret by UEG Music, claiming that the singer had not given her consent, the album was released in January 2009 when the label insisted it owned the rights to the music and Lewis would receive a 50% share of the album’s profits. However, a television advert for the album was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority, who said in a statement: “We considered that the claim ‘Leona Lewis’s new album’ misleadingly implied it was the singer’s latest recording rather than a new CD of tracks recorded some years ago.” The album was re-leased to iTunes in standard and deluxe editions, and two EPs, “Private Party” and “Dip Down”/”Joy”, were re-leased in September 2009. The first single released from Echo was “Happy”, which was written by Lewis, Tedder and Evan Bogart and produced by Tedder. The single was released on 15 September 2009, peaking at number two in the UK, and reaching the top ten in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Japan and Switzerland. Lewis also re-corded the theme song for the 2009 science fiction film Avatar, directed by James Cameron. The song, “I See You (Theme from Avatar)”, was written by James Horner and Simon Franglen. It was nominated for Best Original Song at the 67th Golden Globe Awards. In January 2010, Lewis provided vocals on a cover of “Everybody Hurts”, re-leased to help raise money for victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The second single from Echo, “I Got You”, was released in February 2010. The song “My Hands” was played during the credits for the American version of Final Fantasy XIII In April 2010, she featured on a duet with Italian singer Biagio Antonacci, called “Inaspettata (Unex-pected)”, from his album Inaspettata. They performed the song on the Italian TV show Io Canto on 22 October 2010. Lewis performed a 13-piece set list at the Rock in Rio festival in Lisbon, Portugal, on 22 May 2010, includ-ing songs from Spirit and Echo. Her first tour, titled The Labyrinth supporting Spirit and Echo, started in May 2010, with a theme based on the film Labyrinth. Lewis was scheduled to tour North America from July to August 2010 supporting Christina Aguilera’s Bionic Tour, however, Aguilera cancelled the tour, leaving Lewis’s plans unknown. A DVD of the tour, along with a ten-track CD, was released with the title The Labyrinth Tour Live from The O2 on 29 November 2010. Lewis was born in the London Borough of Islington, to Aural Josiah “Joe” Lewis of Afro-Guyanese descent, and Maria Lewis of Welsh, Irish, and Italian descent. Her parents enrolled her at theSylvia Young Theatre School. From there she attended the Italia Conti Academy and the BRIT School, where she learned to play instruments, such as the guitar and piano, in the hope of becoming a singer-songwriter. Lewis wrote her first full-length song at the age of 12. She initially trained in opera, but went on to singing jazz and blues, eventually leading to popular music, citing Min-nie Riperton, Eva Cassidy and Stevie Wonder as her main influences. Le-ona has sold over 20 million records worldwide. Third album,Glassheart, is scheduled for release in 2012. It was preceded by the single “Collide”, which became her seventh top-five hit in the UK. ‘I’d love to see the fashion industry open their eyes to the variety of women. That variety is what’s beauti-ful’ – Crystal Renn, plus size model There’s so much talk about what size models should be versus what’s healthy, and what size women in general should be verses what’s realistic. What is realistic is that we’re all different sizes, shapes, and colors, and there’s noth-ing wrong with that. Human beings are supposed to be different! Being healthy and happy at the size that works best for your body type is the most important part. As you may suspect, my friends and clients that fall into the plus size range have a hard time finding stylish clothes. Until they talk to me that is ; ) Igi is a wonderful resource for my plus size ladies that are looking for some style, and one of my favorite brands for sizes 12 and up. If you take the time to search, there are actually a lot of good plus size brands out there to-day – Thanks to Beth Ditto there will be another really

kick butt one coming out this year, yay! It’s wonderful to see the fashion world moving (slow as it may be) to-ward more size varieties, and less stigma on not being a sample size.
