Bhd.) is an inspection and testing agency offering a complete range of Non-Destructive Testing Services, Technical & Professional Manpower Supply services, Engineering Inspection and Expediting, WPS Qualification and Heat Treatment (localize & furnace). Global Inspection Sdn. Bhd. assure its clients reliable testing by means of the latest up-to-date techniques and modern equipment. Its clients avoid the expenses of training and employment of special skilled personnel, who may not be fully utilized, and the purchase and maintenance of expensive testing facilities, which may be rapidly out-dated. Global Inspection Sdn. Bhd. performs NDT test in manufacturer workshop and fields construction sites where structural building, factories, power plant, refineries and industrial plants are being built, operated and maintained. PROVISION OF NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING The objective of these services is to test by different methods to certain properties of materials that cannot be determined by other means such as visual examination or direct measurement. Since the material tested will later be used in actual service, the testing methods must in no way destroy them. The results of the tests are compared with the contractual specifications and / or the applicable codes and standards. Field of Applications

Non-Destructive Testing can be performed on a number of different materials, but are required mainly for testing metallic parts such as forgings, casting, and welds of fabricated structures, pressure vessels, boilers, pipelines, storage tanks, ships, and offshore platforms. Critically, stressed components such as pressure vessels, boilers, and parts for aircraft, in which imperfection could lead to accidents, failure in service or reduce efficiency. For example, metal casting and forging, tubes and piping, and especially the welds between components, are tested to ensure that they do not contain potentially dangerous irregularities and flaws. 1. Radiography Testing (RT) Radiography is a method of non-destructively inspecting components and assemblies that is based on the amount of radiation the part being inspected absorbs. Because of differences in material density or variations in wall thickness or material composition, the test piece absorbs different amount of radiation, and allows different amount of radiation to pass through it to reassure. In this particular case, the piece being inspected is a metal plate of uniform thickness, containing an internal flaw that has absorption characteristics different from those of the surrounding material, and therefore allows a different amount of radiation to reach the recording medium (in this case is a film).

2. Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Sound is produced by a vibration body and is itself a mechanical vibration of particles about an equilibrium position. Particles in a material do not move through the medium, rather the energy produced causes the particles to vibrate and this acoustic energy travel progressively through the medium in which it is traveling. It is reflected as an echo. This is the basic principle of ultrasonic inspection. The major of non-destructive testing (NDT) application of ultrasonic include flaw detection, thickness measurement, and characterization of metallurgical structure. Two major modes of vibration are extensively used for NDT compression (longitudinal) wave and shear (transverse) wave. Compression wave is the type of sound that the particles vibrate parallel to the direction of wave propagation. Shear wave can be visualized as a sinusoidal propagation through a medium in which the particle motion is transverse to the direction of the wave propagation. Compression waves can propagate in solids, liquids, and gases. Shear waves, however, cannot be supported in all media and are limited to solids.



3. Magnetic Particle Inspections (MT)

Magnetic Particle Inspection involves a ferromagnetic material and placing iron particle on its surface. Defects in the magnetized area disrupt the magnetic field and iron particles are attracted to these anomalous areas. Iron particles highlight the defect and enhance defect detection. Magnetic fields are produced in ferromagnetic materials such as iron, nickel, cobalt, and some of their alloys by the alignment of the molecular magnetic domains in material. Orbiting electrons, which produce a magnetic field with the specific alignment for each molecule, creates the magnetic domains. Once magnetized, a ferromagnetic, material will attract other ferromagnetic materials. In order to demagnetize the material, the molecules must be forced back into a random orientation.

4. Penetrant Inspection (PT) Dye or liquid penetrant inspection is a method of detecting and indicating surface discontinuities in relatively non-porous material. Penetrant seeps into a discontinuity and after the penetrant on the surface has been removed, a developer is applied that draws the penetrant out of the discontinuity (by capillary) action) and provides an indication of the flaw by contrasting it with the unbroken background. The objective of the dye penetrant method inspection method is the detection of surface discontinuities (cracks, porosity, laps, seams or evidence of other surface imperfections) rapidly and economically with a high degree of accuracy. Common dye penetrant inspection methods include both direct visual observation and fluorescent systems where the dye is treated so that it fluoresces and act as its own light source. Dye penetrant inspection is one of the best methods for finding discontinuities exposed to surface will permit detection of all but extremely tight cracks provided that they are open to the surface. The dye used in most direct visual penetrant work has a deep red colour that provides a good contrast with the white developer. For fluorescent inspection, this dye produced a yellow-green luminescence when viewed under black (ultraviolet) light.



5. Hardness Testing (HT)

Non-uniform heating or cooling of the tube can result in serious anomalies in the hardness throughout the body of the pipe. In the case of a hard spot, the hardness level is considerably higher than that of the surrounding metal, usually as result of localized quenching. High hardness is often associated with loss of ductility, which can lead to brittle fracture. The problem is more common with large diameter line pipe than with casting or tubing.

6. Positive Material Identification (PMI)

Positive Material Identification (PMI) is the analysis of a metallic alloy to establish composition by reading the percentage quantities of its constituent elements. The object of this nondestructive testing method is to identify metal alloys in place using a portable X-Ray fluorescent analyzer that determines the elemental composition of the material. Positive Material Identification (PMI) is the analysis of a metallic alloy to establish composition by reading the quantities by percentage of its constituent elements. Typical methods for PMI include X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and optical emission spectrometry (OES).



7. Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT)

Post weld heat treatment is the most widely used form of stress relieving on

completion of fabrication of welded structures. The principle is that as the

temperature is raised, the yield stress and the elastic modulus of the material

fall. Post Weld heat treatments done after welding/machining to improve the

chemical mechanical properties of weldment / machined surfaces. In concept,

PWHT covers many different potential treatments. A point is reached when the

yield stress no longer supports the residual stresses and some localised plastic

deformation occurs. Post weld heat treatment in the context described here

refers to the process of reheating a weld to below the lower transformation

temperature at a controlled rate, holding for a specific time and cooling at a

controlled rate. The heating can be performed by localised Heating methods or

by the use of the heaters within temporary or permanent furnace installations.

high, stainless steel can lose ductility, toughness, and corrosion resistance –

especially at high temperatures. If ferrite content is too low, stainless steel

welds become susceptible to hot cracking or solidification cracks. In duplex

stainless steel welds, a deficit of ferrite content can also reduce weld strength

and contribute to the development of stress corrosion cracks.
