Global Refining Map Published with the July 2017 issue of Hydrocarbon Processing There are nearly 700 refineries operating in over 120 countries around the world. Total global refining capacity is over 97 MMbpd, with 8 MMbpd–9 MMbpd of additional refining capacity to begin operations by the early 2020s. The vast majority of new refining capacity will be located in non- OECD nations, primarily in Asia. Crude oil refineries are responsible for the processing of crude oil into products including transportation fuels such as diesel, gasoline and jet fuel, as well as feedstock for the petrochemical value chain. From modern conveniences to the products that drive global trade and world economies, the crude oil refining industry is an integral part of everyday life. Size: Approximately 36 in. x 26 in.
