ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

MISSION STATEMENT

“The Institute of Cost Accountants of India would be the preferred source of resources and professionals for the financial leadership of enterprises globally.”

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India is a statutory body set up under an Act of Parliament in the year 1959. The Institute as a part of its obligation, regulates the profession of Cost and Man-agement Accountancy, enrols students for its courses, provides coaching facilities to the students, organizes professional develop-ment programmes for the members and undertakes research pro-grammes in the field of Cost and Management Accountancy. The Institute pursues the vision of cost competiveness, cost manage-ment, efficient use of resources and structured approach to cost accounting as the key drivers of the profession. In today’s world, the profession of conventional accounting and auditing has taken a back seat and cost and management accountants are increas-ingly contributing towards the management of scarce resources

and apply strategic decisions. This has opened up further scope and tremendous opportunities for cost accountants in India and abroad. After an amendment passed by Parliament of India, the Institute is now renamed as ‘’The Institute of Cost Accountants of India’’ from ‘’The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India’’. The Institute is the 2nd largest Cost & Management Accounting body in the world and the largest in Asia, having approximately 5,00,000 students and 70,000 members all over the globe. The Institution headquartered at Kolkata operates through four regional councils at Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai and 95 Chapters situated at important cities in the country as well as 9 Overseas Centres. It is under the administra-tive control of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. The Institute apart from being a member of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), South-Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), Confederation of Asian & Pacific Accountants (CAPA), National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards (NACAS), and National Foundation for Corporate Govern-ance (NFCG) is also a member of Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board (GASAB).

I am happy to share that the Institute of Cost Accountants of India is organising a Global Student’s Summit 2K19 on the theme “CMAs - Today’s Student, Tomorrow’s Executive” at Thrissur, Kerala on 6th & 7th February 2K19.

The Global Student’s Summit will host Students from various parts of the country and abroad, participating in Brain storming sessions on Motivation, Leadership, Career Grooming, Management Competitions, Paper Presentation, Quiz Biz and Elocution Talents. I am sure that this summit would provide encouragement and motivation to participating students to further improve themselves and will inspire others to follow the same.

Greetings and best wishes of New Year!!!

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, the 2nd largest Cost & Management Accounting body in the world and the largest in Asia, is or-ganizing Global Student’s Summit 2K19 on the theme “CMAs - Today’s Student, Tomorrow’s Executive” at Kausthubam Mandapam, Thrissur, Kerala on 6th & 7th February 2019.

National Student’s Convention for the first time is involving the student fraternity and budding CMAs Pan Globe basis and giving them opportunity to prove their skill, talent and expertise. This propitious event will con-duct brain storming sessions on Motivation, Grooming sessions for prospective career of students, Paper Presentations by the students, Quiz and Elocution Competition. The Sessions will accentuate on relevant issues concerning Cost & Management Accounting, Economy and emerging scope for professionals like CMAs.Nowadays, organizations require professionals such as Cost Accountants (CMAs) who have specialized knowledge on business strategy and value creation. The specialized education and training provided by the Institute make

the CMAs a versatile professional. We make every effort to groom our students, not only in their chosen discipline, but also to broaden their mindsets and create positive attitudes thus equipping them with all professional qualities to make them an asset to whichever organization they may join.

Wish our entire students fraternity continued success and happiness in life as well as raise the stature of our profession throughout their professional career.
