1 Introduction

1.1 About this App

SAP Global Track and Trace is a cloud service solution based on the SAP Cloud Platform, and is a re-use component of the SAP Leonardo portfolio. It includes several apps including the Global Track and Trace app (GTT app) for business end users.

The aim of the GTT app is to track business processes and objects that are created as models in the Metadata Modeling app (MM app). These business processes and objects can be then shared between multiple business partners such as suppliers, logistic providers and consumers to deliver a global visualization of the supply chain network.

The GTT app provides three track and trace patterns: Outbound Delivery, Shipment, and Object Tracking. Their models are already defined in the MM app and the processes and objects are tracked in the GTT app, so users can immediately start using the track and trace patterns.

1.2 About this Document

This document uses the track and trace patterns (Outbound Deliveries, Shipment, and Object Tracking) as examples to describe how to use the GTT app to track processes and objects, involving the following tasks:

● Search for a process or an object● Monitor the detailed information and event messages of the process or object● Report the actual time of a planned event for the process or object● Report an unplanned event for the process or object● Monitor the shipment's detailed information on a map

2 Working with the GTT App

The GTT app provides you with multiple functions to track different processes and objects as modeled by users of the Metadata Modeling app.

The GTT app provides three track and trace patterns: Outbound Delivery, Shipment, and Object Tracking. You can directly use them without modeling their business process first.

The following sections refer to the three patterns as examples to illustrate how to work with the GTT app.

NoteIf you use the GTT app to track business processes and objects other than the pre-defined patterns, ensure that the business process has been correctly modeled in the Metadata Modeling app.

2.1 Track and Trace Outbound Deliveries

This section refers to the track and trace pattern "Outbound Delivery" as an example to illustrate how to work with the GTT app.

2.1.1 Search for an Outbound Delivery

Context

The GTT app provides you a search page in which you can find the outbound deliveries that you want to monitor.

The search page includes many search filters to help you find your target outbound delivery. The search filters can be categorized by their input type into 3 types:

● Value-help-dialog● Date-picker● Drop-down-select

2.3 Track and Trace Objects

This section refers to the track and trace pattern "Object Tracking" as an example to illustrate how to work with the GTT app.

There are two types of metadata models for object tracking: EPCIS model and generic object tracking model. No matter which type of models are defined and deployed in the MM app, the track and trace features in the GTT app are similar.

Tracking and tracing objects in the GTT app includes the following tasks.

● Search for an objectTo start your search, launch the Track Businesses and Objects app, and then in the Track Business Processes and Objects page, select an object tracking process, such as EPCIS in the Processes list. Then use the filters and choose Go to find your target object.

● Monitor object details and event messagesBesides the general information of the object and the event messages, the object's details page may include a Hierarchy table to list the packaging hierarchy of the target object. For example, the target object is a box, and the objects inside that box are lower-level objects in the hierarchy. You can choose each lower-level object in the hierarchy to go to the details page of that object.

● Report actual time for a planned eventIn the Event Messages table, you can choose a planned event and report its actual time.

● Report an unplanned eventYou can report unplanned event for a tracked object.

The above tasks are similar to the corresponding tasks for tracking outbound deliveries. For detailed steps, refer to the topics in the Track and Trace Outbound Deliveries section.
