GlobalFares™ the next generation

International Private Fares

2 Introduction

GlobalFares™ the next generation (NGGF) provides new state-of-the-art capabilities to price airfares.

The new GlobalFares system is one of the most competitive products in the travel industry, encompassing more features of the Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCO) Automated Rule, Routing, and Footnote products than systems used by many of the other global distribution systems (GDS).

The next generation of GlobalFares represents the migration of the North American Fare Quote system and International Fare Quote system to a fully automated product. Migration of all customers to the NGGF North American Fare quote system was completed in July 2002.

There are two major upcoming releases associated with the continued migration of our fare quote systems to NGGF:

• International Private Fares

• International Public Fares

Within this guide, we are pleased to advise you of enhancements to be implemented with the delivery of International Private Fares.

1 Benefits

NGGF International Private Fares offers the following benefits:

• Automate rules for private fare filings using ATPCO Automated Rules resulting in timeliness and accuracy of fare related data.

• Faster time to market for new and adjusted fare and fare-related conditions.

• Calculate fares based on rule updates; (i.e. 10% discount on Y type fares for a limited time).

• Migrate faring processes to a server-based environment, to be more flexible and timely to update both data and software.

• Accommodate the higher intensity of internet-related faring efforts.

• Relatively seamless implementation to the end-user community, including the use of existing APOLLO® and GALILEO® formats.

• Rapid development time for new enhancements and industry mandates.

• Virtual elimination of discrepancies caused by manual input of rules.

2 Implementation Plan

To ensure a smooth transition to the new fares system, customers need to review current applications against the descriptions included in this guide to determine whether those applications require updates, or modifications.

This implementation includes fully automated rules for Private Fares, including:

• Negotiated Fares (Category 35)

• Fare by Rule (Category 25)

• Codeshare and Flight Application (Category 4)

• All other pricing categories

Implementation schedule for International Private fares is as follows:

January 2003 Test System Access

t/b/d Alpha testing will be held using live data supply in a production environment with a select alpha customer group (to be determined).

t/b/d General Availability

Implementation schedule for International Public fares to be advised at a later date.

3 Summary of Changes

All of the Product Advisory and Screen Change notices impact both APOLLO® and GALILEO® users. The changes described affect International Private Fares (non-North American markets). These changes are briefly noted below and are listed in more detail in this guide.

Most of the benefits of the product, such as full support of ATPCO’s automated rule product for International Private Fares will be realized as soon as a customer is migrated to the new system, and need no supporting changes on the part of the customer. Other enhancements, such as the ability to specify that a paper ticket is being issued, may require enhancements by the customer, if they had not already taken advantage of the new capabilities when migrated to NGGF for North American markets.

Following is a summary of changes explained within this document:

• Global indicator modifier for fare detail displays temporarily ignored for international private fares

• Fare detail display follow-on entry temporarily becomes obsolete for international private fares (the information can be obtained from rules text)

• Default fare display

• Addition of ticketing code and ticketing designator in fare display and fare quote linear

• Acceptance of ATPCO filed negotiated fares and Fare by Rule

• Application of surcharge exemptions for agency PrivateFares™ (PF1)

• New display message of “use PTC to price” where PTC’s are required

• Use of ATPCO passenger type codes

• Vendor supplied booking class text

• Airport specific logic for fare selection

• Validation of plating carrier and enforcement of e-ticket and paper ticket

• Discount modifier of 100%

• Combinability restrictions and limitations

• BSR/ICH Conversion Rates – Please note: this change affects International Private & Public Fares.

• New display for North American fares with CAT 23 rules

• Enhancements to tax application, currency conversion process and baggage allowance application

• DPFC (Dynamic Private Fare Creation) is being replaced by Category 25, which includes the elimination of the International Single Carrier option. This GlobalFares Info Bulletin was issued in January 2003 and is included in Section 20, for your convenience.

Background The global indicator is a two-letter code used to identify geographical direction of travel. Currently, if you want to request fares via a specific global direction you would use the appropriate modifier to fit your need.

Enhancement With the implementation of next generation GlobalFares (NGGF) International Private Fares the global direction modifier (:GD for APOLLO® or .GD for GALILEO ®) will be ignored for International Private fares.

If you request a fare display using the :GD or.GD modifier, all applicable private fares regardless of global direction will be displayed. Current functionality will be maintained for public fares. The use of the global direction modifier for International private fares will again be made available with the NGGF International Public fares effort.

Background Currently, booking class text for international private fares is generated via a manually maintained booking class table. With NGGF International Private Fares, GALILEO ® International will process ATPCO's data and rules text, which includes booking class text. The booking class text entries are as follows:

APOLLO® GALILEO®

Booking codes for owning carrier (prime and alternate booking codes) and secondary carriers

Enhancement Airlines file booking class text information for international fares in Record 1 Table 999 and in Record 6 Convention 1 and Convention 2 Table 999. ATPCO transmits the Record 1 booking class text in Record 40 and the Record 6 booking class text in Record 65.

Due to the format of ATPCO’s booking class text, no validation of data in either Record 40 or Record 65 is possible. With NGGF International Private Fares the booking class text information will be lengthy, as the text of the entire table 999 will be displayed.

The frequency of use of the booking class text entry is relatively low. Out of 5 million international (public and/or private) fare display entries in one week, APOLLO® subscribers used the $LB entry approximately 6,000 times and GALILEO® subscribers used the FDC* entry approximately 107,000 times.

For NGGF International Public Fares, Galileo International is considering developing a more relevant booking class text display.

FARE QUOTE

Background Itinerary pricing in GlobalFares™ International (non-North American) system currently appends ticket designators to fare basis codes in limited cases. When this occurs it is a result of specific system programming and it is not flexible to individual carriers rule filings. Ticketing codes are not supported in current International itinerary pricing.

Enhancement The ATPCO automated rules product provides carriers the flexibility of filing ticketing codes and ticket designators. With this enhancement, the pricing response for International Private Fares will include any ticketing code and ticket designators that have been filed for a given rule.

Ticketing Code When a ticketing code is filed, it replaces or alters the published fare basis code. GlobalFares™ will output the appropriate ticketing code in the fare quote linear. The ticketing code will also be output in the fare basis box of the ticket.

Example

The fare displays below indicate that a ticketing code has been filed for the VKXJ fare.

Proprietary and Confidential Information

PrivateFares™ (PF1) was implemented in 1992 and provided the ability for agencies to build, maintain and distribute their negotiated rates. PrivateFares II™ (PFII) was implemented in 1999 and provided the ability for airlines to file and secure private fares to specific locations using Category 15 of ATPCO’s automated rule product. The combination of PF1 and PFII allowed carriers to file net level fares and the agencies to create the selling level. While these products are valuable tools for displaying and pricing net fares, determining what is required and issuing net tickets remains primarily a manual process.

The first release of ATPCO’s category 35 is the next step in fully automating the net ticketing/reporting process.

Category 35 contains all the rule provisions required for determining the multiple levels of fares as well as the data required for ticket issuance.

Within Category 35 a carrier can:

• Specify the security for the fare - who is authorized to use the fare

• Calculate or specify the selling/net level fare (based upon the level of the filed fare)

• Set parameters for agency created selling level fares

• Specify the ticketing requirements.

While category 35 was designed for the processing of net fares, a carrier may file category 35 rule provisions for any private fare.

Enhancement This enhancement automates the following portions of category 35:

• Security

• Creation of the selling level fare as specified in the category.

• Printing of the baggage allowance, tour code and/or ticket designator on all ticket types.

This enhancement also provides a new display to assist in using PF1 to create a selling level fare. It shows the selling fare parameters as well as all the ticketing elements the carrier has filed in the rule. Additionally, there are enhancements to the APOLLO® *LF display and GALILEO ® filed fare detail to display all the associated fare levels.

Security

As with Category 15, a carrier can specify who has authority to use the fare by CRS, carrier code, any travel agency, ARC/IATA number, pseudo city and/or a specific geographic location. In category 35, they may also specify a specific agent duty code (i.e. AG, GS) or terminal address (LNIATA). Additionally, a carrier may also state that a location is only authorized for specific functions. The functions they can specify are view, sell, ticket, update (create a selling level fare) and/or redistribute.

The following defines the APOLLO® and GALILEO ® functions that are associated to the security provisions filed in category 35.

VIEW – Fare/Rule Display

SELL - All pricing entries

TICKET - all pricing entries plus ticketing

UPDATE – create a selling level fare using PF1

REDISTRIBUTE - allowing other locations access to the fare (secured by group coding or selective access).

Selling/Net Level Fare creation in CAT 35

A carrier may file a net or selling level fare and within category 35 create, or specify the other fare level.

For example, a carrier may file:

• a net level fare of CAD 100.00 and in Category 35 specify a selling level of CAD150.00

• a selling fare of USD 100.00 and specify that the net level is 90% of the selling level or USD 90.00.

A carrier also has the option of giving update authority to a location so they can create their own selling level fare using PF1 (this process is described in the PrivateFares™ section of this advisory, titled Creating a Selling Fare using PrivateFares™).

With this option they can also specify:

• a minimum selling fare

• a maximum selling fare

• a selling fare range

When this option is used, the selling rate created using PF1 must fall within these parameters.

Ticketing Requirements

Within rule category 35, a carrier may specify the data that is to be used for ticket issuance. This includes:

• Baggage Allowance

• Commission

• Upgrades – whether upgrades are allowed or not

• Plating carrier

• Ticket Designator

• Tour Code

• Value Code/CAR (carrier agreement reference) Code

• The BSP method to be used for reporting

• The data that is to appear on the passenger coupons and what data is to appear on the auditor/agent coupons. This could include a ticketing fare that is unrelated to the NET/selling level fares or verbiage such as BULK/BT or TOUR/IT.

For this release, baggage allowance, ticket designator and tour code will be used at ticket issuance. The other fields will only appear in text displays (rule text, a new net fare display follow-on entry and additions to the *LF and *FF# displays) to assist in the ticket issuance process.

Creating a Selling Fare using PrivateFares™

If no selling level is specified in Category 35, PF1 can be used to create the selling level. The process to create the selling level was implemented on 03 October 2000. The original product advisory information is included for reference.

To use PF1 to create a selling level fare a location must have update authority in category 35. Additionally, if a minimum/maximum selling fare or a selling fare range is specified, the result of the PF1 calculation must comply with the selling fare parameters specified in the category.

Example 1

NET fare = USD 100.00

Category 35 states a selling fare range – USD 125.00 – USD 150.00

PF1 contract states – increase fare by 30%

The PF1 fare would display and quote because it falls within the selling fare range specified by the carrier.

Example 2

NET fare = USD 100.00

Category 35 states a selling fare range – USD 125.00 – USD 150.00

PF1 contract states – increase fare by 10%

The PF1 fare would not display or quote because it does not fall within the selling fare range specified by the carrier.

Currently, there is no check at contract build time to ensure the location has update authority, or that the resulting fare falls within any min/max fare parameters specified. The net fare detail display can be used to ensure update authority and to determine if the carrier has filed min/max fare parameters. The PF1 contract can be created, but if the category 35 rules are not met the fare will not be displayed, or quoted.

A selling fare created using PF1 that is based upon a net fare with category 35 can be redistributed to other locations without having redistribution authority in category 35. This process is the same as was implemented for the original PF II effort.

Fare Display and Pricing

Unless net fares are specifically requested with the net fare modifier (:C), only selling level fares will be displayed and quoted.

As with all private fares, fares with a category 35 will be noted on the fare display with a dash preceding the line number and the alert PRIVATE FARE SELECTED will be displayed when selected for pricing.

The APOLLO® ATFQ field will reflect the selling fare amounts and fare basis codes.

Enhanced *LF and *FF# displays

A pricing request may now have multiple levels of fares; selling, net and ticket (or gross). When a selling fare has an associated net and/or ticket fare these amounts will be shown in the APOLLO® *LF and GALILEO ® filed fare detailed display (*FF#) following the details of the selling level fare. This display will only be shown to the location that owns the NET fare (the location specified by the carrier in category 35). All other locations will only see the current display - the selling fare level only.

If the :C modifier is specified the *LF and *FF# will only show the NET fare level.

For this release of category 35, the net fare and ticketing fare levels shown in the *LF and filed fare detail display are for INFORMATION ONLY and are only intended to assist in providing data to support the current processes used to issue tickets for net fares.

No changes have been made to the ticketing process. In APOLLO®, the modifiers in the ATFQ field will be used to re-price and ticket at the applicable selling fare. In GALILEO ®, a TKP entry will issue the ticket at the selling fare level stored in the filed fare. However, as today, multiple filed fares can be stored when the fares quoted are private.

In a future release, the ticketing process for multiple levels of fares will be automated and these displays will change.

Background Current pricing logic applies surcharges to International PF1 Discount contracts with no rule overrides. PF1 Flat, Nets and Discount contracts with rule overrides process surcharges against a manually maintained table. In June of 2002, the ability to exempt ALL surcharges for all types of PF1 contracts, Discounts, Flats and Nets, was introduced but applied to North American fares only.

Depending on how individual contract negotiations between an airline and the customer are done, surcharges may or may not apply to International PF1 contracts.

Enhancement With this enhancement the same indicator that is used for North American PF1 contracts can be used to exempt surcharges for International PF1 contracts. When used, the new indicator will exempt all surcharges for a contract. The indicator is *SC EXEMPT* and it is entered starting in the first position on the last note line on Screen 2. When entered, this indicator is applicable to all contract types.

The indicator can also be added to existing contracts, using the contract modify function. There is no need to cancel and re-build a contract.

Additional text may be added after the *SC EXEMPT* indicator:

1 GALILEO ® Example

The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of how passenger types are used in NGGF (next generation GlobalFares™ platform). Prior to the cutover of automated rules, Galileo International developed Passenger Type Codes, or PTs, for use in Galileo®, to apply to rules that have special passenger type requirements. With the implementation of NGGF, automated rules are accepted from ATPCo, including ATPCO’s Passenger Type Codes, or PTCs, which are functionally equivalent to Galileo® PTs. Galileo® PTs are mapped to the equivalent PTC in order to be processed correctly.

Galileo® PTs consist of two characters, while ATPCo passenger types are three characters. Please note, however, that any ATPCo three character passenger type may be entered in the Galileo® system to produce a fare quote. When a Galileo ® PT is entered, it will be translated to the equivalent ATPCo passenger type (PTC) and processed as such.

The following table represents the mapping of Galileo® PTs to the corresponding ATPCo PTCs in NGGF. In some cases, the Galileo® PTs have no ATPCo equivalent PTC and are not listed. When there is no Galileo ® PT equivalent, the ATPCo PTC must be used. The rules text menu display includes an alert ‘USE *PTC (OR *PT) TO PRICE’.

Only the PTs that are supported in NGGF are included on this table.

The table has 6 columns. The description of each column follows, using the row below as an example:

Column 1 represents the Galileo ® PT. When the PT is an alpha-numeric, (nn = numeric), the user enters a number, usually the age of the passenger.

CDnn or CD SNN

Column 2 represents the ATPCo PTC that is the equivalent of the Galileo ® PT. When a user enters the Galileo ® PT in a pricing request, the NGGF data base is interrogated for the PTC in column 2. For example, if the user enters FQ*CD62, the NGGF data base will be interrogated for a rule with ATPCo PTC ‘SNN’. If found, the fare quote will respond with the fare for an SNN passenger type. NOTE: Either the Galileo ® PT or the ATPCo PTC may be input.

Column 1 Column 2 Column 3

1G PT Maps to

Column 3 represents an associated PTC, which is a secondary mapping option. If a fare is found for the PTC in column 2, that fare will be quoted and no search for the alternate PTC in column 3 will be made. If no fare is found for the PTC in column 2, the system will continue searching the NGGF data base for a rule with the alternate PTC. If no fares are found for either the ATPCo PTC or alternate ATPCo PTC, the system defaults to ‘ADT’.

NOTE: Only PTs in column 1 have associations, or mapping options. If a user makes a fare quote request using an ATPCo PTC, from column 2 or 3, no mapping to another PTC occurs.

Column 5 lists default ages which are programmatically supplied for passenger types that typically have age requirements; however the user does not enter an age or the PT or PTC does not allow an age to entered, e.g. *SRC. The reason for supplying a default age is to enable validation of ATPCo rule data. When a Galileo ® alpha-numeric PT is entered, and the user inputs the passenger’s age, this age is assigned to the ATPCo PTC(s) to which it is mapped. However, if an ATPCo PTC is entered, and no age can be included, the default age is programmatically assigned to that PTC.

Example: User inputs the Galileo ® senior citizen PT, including the age of the passenger - FQ*CD61. The system will search for a fare with SNN or, if not found, SRC passenger type, and validate the age requirement of the rule against the age of 61 as included in the PT entry. However, if

Column 6 is a fare display modifier. When the category is entered in a fare display request, the ATPCo PTC and alternate PTC will be included in the search and all fares filed with either PTC will be displayed.

NOTE: A fare display may be requested by entering a PTC (excluding an alpha-numeric PT); however when a PTC is used rather than a category in a fare display request, only fares which match the specific PTC entered will be displayed. For example, Fdxxxyyy*SRC will display fares with the SRC PTC, but this display will not include any SNN passenger types. When Fdxxxyyy*CD is input, the fare display will include all fares with any senior citizen PTC, i.e. SNN, SRC plus any others that may exist.

Additional Information

Multiple PTCs and accompanied travel – NGGF validates accompanied travel rule provisions, however, only 1 fare is returned per passenger type. If a rule limits the number of passengers that are allowed to accompany another, and the pricing request exceeds the number allowed, the response will give an alternate quote for all the passenger types entered that exceed the limit.

Example: A companion (CMP) is allowed to travel with a senior citizen (SRC) at the senior citizen discounted fare. The SRC discount is valid with or without accompaniment by a CMP, but the CMP discount requires accompaniment by an SRC passenger, and only 1 CMP is permitted for each SRC. The SRC resulting fare basis with ticket designator is ‘Y/SC10’. The CMP resulting fare basis with ticket designator is ‘Y/SC10C’.

If the PNR is built for 3 passengers, and the user entry is a request for a quote for 1 SRC and 2 CMPs, the system will validate the accompaniment rules which allow no more than 1 CMP. Since only 1 fare can be returned for a given PTC, the pricing response will be an alternate valid fare for both CMPs, most likely an ADT fare. The response will not be 1 - ‘Y/SC10’ fare, 1 - ‘Y/SC10C’ fare, plus 1 ADT fare. To get the allowed discount for 1 CMP, the user input must include only 1 CMP passenger, e.g. FQP1*SRC.2*CMP.3

The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of how passenger types are used in NGGF. Prior to the cutover of automated rules, Galileo International developed Passenger Information Codes, or PICs, for use in APOLLO®, to apply to rules that have special passenger type requirements. With the implementation of NGGF, automated rules are accepted from ATPCo, including ATPCO’s Passenger Type Codes, or PTCs, which are functionally equivalent to APOLLO® PICs. Although many APOLLO® PICs are identical to ATPCo PTCs, those that are different must be mapped to the equivalent PTC in order to be processed correctly.

The following table represents the mapping of APOLLO® (1V) PICs to the corresponding ATPCo PTCs in NGGF. APOLLO® PICs that are the same as ATPCo PTCs are listed on the chart for information. In some cases, the APOLLO® PICs have no ATP equivalent PTC and are not listed. Only the PICs that are supported in NGGF are included on this list. The table has 6 columns. The description of each column follows, using the row below as an example:

SCnn SNN

Column 2 represents the ATP PTC that is the equivalent of the APOLLO® PIC. When a user enters the APOLLO® PIC in a pricing request, the NGGF data base is interrogated for the PTC in column 2. For example, if the user enters $B*SC62, the NGGF data base will be interrogated for a rule with ATP PTC ‘SNN’. If found, the fare quote will respond with the fare for an SNN passenger type. NOTE: Either the APOLLO® PIC or the ATPCo PTC may be input.

Column 1 Column 2 Column 3

Column 3 represents an associated PTC, which is a secondary mapping option. If a fare is found for the PTC in column 2, that fare will be quoted and no search for the alternate PTC in column 3 will be made. If no fare is found for the PTC in column 2, the system will continue searching the NGGF data base for a rule with the alternate PTC. If no fares are found for either the ATP PTC or alternate ATP PTC, the system defaults to ‘ADT’.

NOTE: Only PICs in column 1 have associations, or mapping options. If a user makes a fare quote request using an ATPCo PTC, from column 2 or 3, no mapping to another PTC occurs.

Column 5 lists default ages which are programatically supplied for passenger types that typically have age requirements; however the PIC or PTC does not allow an age to entered, e.g. *SRC. The reason for supplying a default age is to enable validation of ATP rule data. When an APOLLO® alpha-numeric PIC is entered, and the user inputs the passenger’s age, this age is assigned to the ATP PTC(s) to which it is mapped. However, if an ATP PTC is entered, and no age can be included, the default age is programatically assigned to that PTC.

Example: User inputs the APOLLO® senior citizen PIC, including the age of the passenger - $B*SC61. The system will search for a fare with SNN or, if not found, SRC passenger type, and validate the age requirement of the rule against the age of 61 as included in the PIC entry.

Proprietary and Confidential Information

This document and the subject matter hereof is confidential and proprietary information for Galileo International. This document is to be held in confidence by the recipient and not to be disclosed to any other third party.

However, if the user enters the ATPCo PTC of either SNN or SRC, no age can be included in the entry, so the age of 65 is used as a default for validation of any age requirements contained in the rule.

Column 6 is a fare display modifier. When the category is entered in a fare display request, the ATP PTC and alternate PTC will be included in the search and all fares filed with either PTC will be displayed.

NOTE: A fare display may be requested by entering a PTC (excluding an alpha-numeric PIC); however when a PTC is used rather than a category in a fare display request, only fares which match the specific PTC entered will be displayed. For example, $Dxxxyyy-SRC will display fares with the SRC PTC, but this display will not include any SNN passenger types. When $Dxxxyyy-SEN is input, the fare display will include all fares with any senior citizen PTC, i.e.

Proprietary and Confidential Information

This document and the subject matter hereof is confidential and proprietary information for Galileo International. This document is to be held in confidence by the recipient and not to be disclosed to any other third party.

$BN1*SRC+2*CMP+3

X Low Fare Shopping Tool

Background Currently, if both an international city private fare and an international airport private fare are filed by an airline, GlobalFares fare selection process selects the airport fare and discards the city fare. If the airport fare ends up failing rules, fare quote fails. As the city fare was discarded it is not considered a candidate for fare quote.

Detail With NGGF International Private Fares, Galileo International will begin processing all ATPCo data and text. If an airline files both an international city private fare and an international airport private fare, both fares will be selected during the fare selection process and will be available for fare quote. If all rules for both fares are met, the lowest fare will quote.

An airline has the capability of restricting an international private fare to a specific airport by coding the restriction in Category 04 Flight Application.

Background Airlines have the capability to file via ATPCO’s automated rule categories 15 (Sales Restrictions) and 35 (Negotiated Fares) rule provisions stating that a fare must/must not be plated on a specific carrier(s). Currently, GlobalFares does not validate and enforce this rule in International (non-North American Domestic) markets (IFQ).

APOLLO®

Currently, plating carrier is not supplied to GlobalFares for IFQ itineraries but it may be input as a modifier on all pricing entries except $BB and $BBQ. Plating carrier is available for all ticketing entries; either determined, based upon ticketing’s plating carrier logic, or as a ticketing modifier.

When the plating carrier modifier is input, the AUTH field in the AAT is validated to ensure the agency is authorized to plate on the carrier specified.

GALILEO®

Currently, plating carrier is an optional modifier for all IFQ itineraries. The plating carrier modifier is available for all pricing entries. It can also be added to the filed fare using the ticketing modifier update function (TMU) or may be included with the issue ticket command (TKP). Plating carrier is required in the filed fare or agent input for all tickets issued, it is never assumed or determined.

On a pricing entry, the AUTH field in the AAT is not validated to ensure the agency has plating authority for the carrier specified. An agent may file a fare with an invalid plating carrier and when the ticket is issued the alert UNAUTHORISED/INVALID CARRIER CODE is displayed.

Enhancement - APOLLO®

When the plating carrier modifier is input or if it is supplied to GlobalFares, using ticketing’s plating carrier logic, it will be used to validate the fare rule. When it is not supplied or input, fares with plating carrier restriction will still be selected. In both cases, the message FARE HAS A PLATING CARRIER RESTRICTION will be displayed. This message indicates that the fare rules need to be viewed to determine which carrier(s) plate must/must not be used to issue the ticket.

When the plating carrier modifier is not included a plating carrier restriction may be displayed for a carrier that the agency does not have plating authority. However, when a subsequent $B or T:$B entry is made with a plating carrier the authorized carriers will be validated.

Before a user chooses an itinerary to book and sell, they will be advised, with an alert, of any fares with plating carrier restrictions. If multiple plating carriers exist for a fare they all will be identified on the display. This alert will be for informational purposes only.

When an attempt is made to store a fare after the sell and a required plating carrier is not included, an alert will be returned advising that the plating carrier is required or storing of the fare will fail.

Background Airlines have the capability to file restrictions via ATPCO’s rule Category 15 Sales Restrictions to specify that an electronic ticket (E-Tkt) is required, permitted or not permitted for a particular fare.

Currently, GlobalFares does not validate and enforce this field of Category 15 for non-North American Markets (IFQ).

Enhancement With the implementation of the NGGF International Private Fares, electronic ticketing will be validated and enforced in fare quote. Carriers may want to collect an additional surcharge to allow a paper ticket to be issued. In such cases, a surcharge will be applied to override an E-Tkt only fare. The surcharge will be shown in the linear fare line as a Q surcharge.

An alert will be displayed in fare quote to indicate that a particular fare requires that an E-Tkt be issued. When an E-Tkt required fare is quoted, the message “E-TKT REQUIRED” is displayed. To exclude electronic ticketing specified fares a modifier of PT can be used. In this case, the alert PAPER TICKET REQUIRED is displayed. Additionally, at time of ticket issuance, a final check will be made to ensure the fare being used permits an E-Tkt or paper ticket as the case may be.

Fare Display Enhancement

The fare display request will include fares that have electronic ticketing information and those that do not. Rule text is generated from the electronic ticketing field to indicate any E-Tkt conditions. When a fare has been filed with an electronic ticketing provision, the Category 15 text for that fare will reflect the E-Tkt information.

Fare Quote

Enhancement

When a fare quote is requested, E-Tkt required fares are included for consideration as the default, provided the user is permitted to issue an electronic ticket. Additionally, a new modifier, ET, can be used to request only electronic ticketing fares. To indicate that an E-Tkt required fare has been selected for quote, a new alert is displayed:

E-TKT REQUIRED. To exclude electronic ticketing specified fares a modifier of PT can be used. In this case, the alert PAPER TICKET REQUIRED is displayed.

Background

One of the features available to GlobalFares™ users is a discount percentage modifier. This modifier, DPnnn (APOLLO®), RPnnn (Galileo®), allows the user to reduce an international fare by a specified percentage in a pricing request or in a fare display request.

Enhancement The discount modifier will allow a value of 100 (*DP100/*RP100) to be entered for the purpose of displaying or pricing a 100 percent discount. When used as a pricing modifier, it applies to all fare quote functions, such as, but not limited to Best Buy functions ($BB/FQBB) and shop functions (FQP). This modifier still discounts only the base fare. Surcharges, departure taxes, PFCs etc. are not discounted.

Background Currently, all International fares are processed in the ‘legacy’ IFQ (International Fare Quote) system, and all types of fares are potentially available for combinations in order to produce pricing solutions.

With this effort, Galileo International will process ATPCO’s International Private Fares in the next generation GlobalFares system (NGGF). Additionally, all PF1 fares, except those based on SITA fares, will be processed in NGGF.

International Private Fares Processed in NGGF

The following types of international private fares will be processed in NGGF:

• PF1 discounts (with or without rule overrides) based on ATPCo public fares.

• PF1 discounts (with or without rule overrides) based on ATPCo private fares.

• PF1 discounts against ATPCo public or private fares without rule overrides will be processed in NGGF and will enjoy automated rules validation. All other PF1 contract rules will be validated in legacy IFQ. For those contracts that are valid for the itinerary and the user, the discounts against public and private fares will be applied in NGGF.

• PF1 discounts (with or without rule overrides) based on ATPCo net fares.

• PF1 flat contracts

• PF1 net contracts

• ATPCo private fares (PFII)

• ATPCo net fares (Category 35)

• Local Loading Private Fares (LLPF)

International Private Fares NOT Processed in NGGF

The following types of international private fares will not be processed in NGGF:

• PF1 discounts (with or without rule overrides) based on SITA fares.

International Public Fares

The following types of international public fares will not be processed in NGGF until a future release:

• ATPCo supplied public fares

• SITA supplied public fares

Combinability of International Fares

With NGGF International Private Fares, PF1 discounts (with or without rule overrides) based on SITA fares, and ATPCo and SITA supplied international public fares will not combine end-on or side-by-side with international private fares processed in NGGF. Fare quote will provide the lowest purely public fares solution, or purely private fares solution.

International Private Fares may combine end-on with North American public or private fares.

The majority of fare quotes today (99.5%) use either an entirely public or private solution. For the remaining .5% of fare quotes, the user can segment select and issue multiple tickets using multiple pricing records.

Combinability of PF1 Fares

This enhancement will introduce International PF1 contract processing in NGGF. It will apply for discount contracts (with or without rule overrides) that are based on ATPCO Public and Private (PFII) fares, PFII Net fares, as well as all FLAT and NET contracts. This implementation will allow for combination of PF1 fares with the following:

• ATPCO North American Public fares

• ATPCO North American Private fares (PFII)

• ATPCO International Private fares (PFII)

• ATPCO International Public fares

• All Local Loading Private fares (LLPF)

PF1 International Discount contracts (with or without rule overrides) that are built against SITA fares will continue to be processed in the Legacy or non-NGGF system. This means that the SITA based PF1 fares will not combine with any NGGF International PF1, legacy International Public, PFII or LLPF fare. These fares will combine with North American fares both public and private quoted through NGGF. The SITA fares that have PF1 International contracts will continue to use the recently enhanced PF1 validation for their rule conditions.

Impacts: International Private Fares in the following Fares Products:

X Fare Quote

Fare Display

X Best Buy

X Best Buy Quote

X Low Fare Shopping Tool

Background Currently in the GlobalFares International system, when currency conversion is required for a fare quote, the rate of exchange is displayed without a clear representation of whether the factor used in the calculation is a multiplication factor, or a division factor.

This change was implemented with NGGF for North American fares. The rate of exchange used in currency conversion will result in a format that is more informative and easier to understand.

Enhancement With this enhancement the rate of exchange used in the calculation will clearly depict the factor used and the relationship between the currency of commencement and the currency of sale.

Example The following itinerary will be used to show the current display and the enhanced display for both Bankers Selling Rate (BSR) and IATA Clearing House rate (ICH) used in conversion of a fare to local currency.

Itinerary:

The ICH rate of exchange shows the rates used to arrive at the final GBP – ZWD rate, but does not clearly indicate whether it is a multiplication or division factor. The rate of exchange from GBP to USD appears to be 1.609372 GBP = 1 USD, when it actually is 1GBP = 1.609372 USD.

Internal Reference Number GFIB03 - 05

Impacts: North American Fares in the following Fares Products:

X Fare Quote

X Fare Display

X Best Buy

X Best Buy Quote

X Low Fare Shopping Tool

Background The automated rules Category 23 provides a means for carriers to stipulate whether specific fares should or should not be used for construction of unpublished fares, proration and other fare construction applications. Currently, when a fare has a category 23 provision restricting it for use in a fare construction application only, it is not included in the fare display for North American markets (NAFQ), but is included in the fare display for non-North American markets (IFQ). With the implementation of NGGF International Private Fares, the NAFQ fare display will be changed to include fares containing category 23 restrictions. The IFQ fare display will not change.

Current Processing If a carrier has filed a category 23 provision limiting the use of a fare to a fare construction type purpose only, that fare is not displayed in the NAFQ fare display. A user has no means of viewing the fare.

Change With the implementation of NGGF International Private Fares, all published fares will be included in the fare display for NAFQ.

20 Elimination of International Single Carrier Option for Dynamic Private Fare Creation (GIPFDI)

Internal Reference Number GFIB03 - 06

Impacts: International Private Fares in the following Fares Products:

X Fare Quote

X Fare Display

X Best Buy

X Best Buy Quote

X Low Fare Shopping Tool

Background The International Single Carrier option allows a carrier to restrict the PrivateFares II™ DPFC/GIPFDI process to only those fare components containing travel wholly on their carrier code.

Description As previously notified, with the implementation of next generation GlobalFares for International Private fares, we will be disabling the DPFC/GIPFDI data and process in preference to the more robust, industry standard category 25 functionality.

In addition, the International Single Carrier option that was part of the DPFC/GIPFDI process will also be disabled.

Carriers will now have the capability to fully control the application of interline carriers by utilizing the features available in the automated rule product.

Category 25 Fare by Rule allows a carrier to restrict the Fare by Rule process to only those fare components to designated marketing and/or operating carrier code(s) via Category 4 Flight Application.

Category 25 Fare by Rule also allows a carrier to designate a resulting routing number that can also be used designate the valid routing and carrier(s) for the Fare by Rule fare. In addition, Category 25 Fare by Rule also includes an override option for Category 10 Combinations. This can be used control the fares that can be used in combination with a carrier’s Fare by Rule fares.

The various Fare by Rule coding options allow the carrier to control the carriers, routing, and combinations on a rule-by-rule basis, thus allowing the carrier more control and flexibility over their created fares.
