First Reading Gen 1:1 26-31

A reading from the book of Genesis God saw all he had made, and indeed it was good.

Responsorial Psalm Ps 103:1-2. 5-6. 10. 12-14. 24. 35. R. see v.30

(R.) Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth. 1. Bless the Lord, my soul! Lord God, how great you are, clothed in majesty & glory, wrapped in light as in a robe. (R.)

2. You founded the earth on its base, to stand firm from age to age. You wrapped it with the ocean like a cloak: the waters stood higher than the mountains. (R.)

3. You make springs gush forth in the valleys: they flow in between the hills. On their banks dwell the birds of heaven; from the branches they sing their song. (R.)

4. From your dwelling you water the hills; earth drinks its fill of your gift. You make the grass grow for the cattle and the plants to serve man’s needs. (R.)

5. How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your riches. Bless the Lord, my soul! (R.)

Second Reading Ex 14:15 - 15:1

A reading from the book of Exodus Tell the children of Israel to march on, to walk through the sea on dry ground.

Responsorial Psalm Ex 15:1-6. 17-18. R. v.1

(R.) Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory. 1. I will sing to the Lord, glorious his triumph! Horse and rider he has thrown into the sea! The Lord is my strength, my song, my salvation. This is my God and I extol him, my father’s God and I give him praise. (R.)

2. The Lord is a warrior! The Lord is his name. The chariots of Pharaoh he hurled into the sea, the flower of his army is drowned in the sea. The deeps hide them; they sank like a stone. (R.)

3. Your right hand, Lord, glorious in its power, your right hand, Lord, has shattered the enemy. In the greatness of your glory you crushed the foe. (R.)

4. You will lead your people and plant them on your mountain, the place, O Lord, where you have made your home, the sanctuary, Lord, which your hands have made. The Lord will reign for ever and ever. (R.)

Third Reading Is 55:1 - 11

A reading from the prophet Isaiah Come to me and your soul will live, With you I will make an everlasting covenant.

Responsorial Psalm Is 12:2-6 R. v.3

(R.) You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation. 1. Truly God is my salvation, I trust, I shall not fear. For the Lord is my strength, my song, he became my saviour. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. (R.)

2. Give thanks to the Lord, give praise to his name! Make his mighty deeds known to the peoples, declare the greatness of his name. (R.)

3. Sing a psalm to the Lord for he has done glorious deeds, People of Zion, sing and shout for joy make them known to all the earth! for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel. (R.)

First Reading Acts 10:34. 37-43

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles We have eaten and drunk with him after his resurrection from the dead.

Peter addressed Cornelius and his household: ‘You must have heard about the recent happenings in Judaea; about Jesus of Nazareth and how he began in Galilee, after John had been preaching baptism. God had anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and because God was with him, Jesus went about doing good and curing all who had fallen into the power of the devil. Now I, and those with me, can witness to everything he did throughout the countryside of Judaea and in Jerusalem itself: and also to the fact that they killed him by hanging him on a tree, yet three days afterwards God raised him to life and allowed him to be seen, not by the whole people but only by certain witnesses God had chosen beforehand. Now we are those witnesses – we have eaten and drunk with him after his resurrection from the dead – and he has ordered us to proclaim this to his people and to tell them that God has appointed him to judge everyone, alive or dead. It is to him that all the prophets bear this witness: that all who believe in Jesus will have their sins forgiven through his name.”

Responsorial Psalm Ps 117:1-2. 16-17. 22-23. R. v.24

(R.) This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad. 1. Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his love has no end. Let the sons of Israel say: ‘His love has no end.’ (R.) 2. The Lord’s right hand has triumphed; his right hand raised me up. I shall not die, I shall live and recount his deeds. (R.) 3. The stone which the builders rejected has become the corner stone. This is the work of the Lord, a marvel in our eyes. (R.)

Second Reading Col 3:1-4

A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Colossians Look for the things that are in heaven, where Christ is.

Since you have been brought back to true life with Christ, you must look for the things that are in heaven, where Christ is, sitting at God’s right hand. Let your thoughts be on heavenly things, not on the things that are on the earth, because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God. But when Christ is revealed – and he is your life – you too will be revealed in all your glory with him.

Sequence Christians, to the Paschal Victim offer sacrifice and praise. The sheep are ransomed by the Lamb; and Christ, the undefiled, hath sinners to his Father reconciled. Death with life contended: combat strangely ended! Life’s own Champion, slain, yet lives to reign. Tell us, Mary: say what thou didst see upon the way. The tomb the Living did enclose; I saw Christ’s glory as he rose! The angels there attesting; shroud with grave-clothes resting. Christ, my hope, has risen: he goes before you into Galilee. That Christ is truly risen from the dead we know. Victorious king, thy mercy show!

Gospel Mk 16:1-7

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark. Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified, has risen When the sabbath was over, Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices with which to go and anoint him. And very early in the morning on the first day of the week they went to the tomb, just as the sun was rising. They had been saying to one another, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?’ But when they looked they could see that the stone – which was very big – had already been rolled back. On entering the tomb they saw a young man in a white robe seated on the right hand side, and they were struck with amazement. But he said to them, ‘There is no need for alarm. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he has risen, he is not here. See, here is the place where they laid him. But you

must go and tell his disciples and Peter, “He is going before you to Galilee; it is there you will see him, just as he told you.”’

Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

We have been going through a tough year due to COVID.

Although there are still some guidelines we need to follow, thanks be to God that we are

now slowly getting back to our normal routine.

Easter is a very special time for all Christians as the Resurrection is the central mystery

of our Christian faith - the Lord is Risen; He is Risen indeed.

Unlike last year, this year we are able to celebrate all of Holy Week and Easter services at St Mark’s Church – with strict

guidelines and limited seats. I therefore encourage you and your family to register and be part of Easter celebrations. I am

also aware that many will travel out of Drummoyne to visit family and friends as school break begins.

I pray that you will all have a very joyful Easter with your family and friends either here at Drummoyne or wherever you

may be. On behalf of Fr Michael, Fr Denis and the Parish team, I wish you all the best this Easter. May the Risen Lord

bless you and your family in abundance and fill your hearts with joy.

Yours in Christ,

Fr John Pham

Easter Sunday Meal Prayer Creative God and Lord of life,

you who call forth from the darkness of death all those who love you, we rejoice, on this Easter Sunday,

in the Resurrection from the dead of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Visit our home and this table with your bright blessing of peace and life.

We pause in the midst of this prayer to remember all the holy dead of our family

who live now in you and who await the final and glorious resurrection of the dead. May they and we, because of our faith in you, our God,

taste in the victory of life over death. May the Risen Christ, our Lord and Savior,

be our guest as we celebrate his Resurrection with this Easter Sunday dinner. Bless those whose work to prepare this meal, has truly been a work of prayer,

and bless all of us who shall share it with Easter love and joy. May you then bless this table and this food, and each of us in your holy name:

Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Paschal candle represents Christ, the Light of the World. Painted by Ann-Marie Bateman, we thank

Ann-Marie for her creative skills and time it took to paint this year’s candle.

There is a blessing of water during the Easter Vigil. Taking some of this Easter water home and using it to bless the house is an excellent way to

incorporate the liturgy in the home. Some of the Easter Water, the blessing of which takes place during the ceremonies at the church on Holy Saturday, should be brought home and regarded as a symbol of the family's renewal in Christ.

As the rooms are sprinkled, the following prayer may be read.

Graciously hear us, Holy Lord, Almighty Father and Eternal God, that, even as You protected the homes of the Hebrew people leaving Egypt by means of the destroying angel; which homes were stained with the blood of a lamb

(which prefigured our Pasch in which Christ was immolated); so may you in the same manner condescend to send your holy angel from heaven that he may guard, foster, protect, visit, and defend all the inhabitants of this dwelling.

Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

* Holy Water is available during Eastertide

Page 6: Gloria€¦ · Gloria First Reading Gen 1:1 26-31 A reading from the book of Genesis God saw all he had made, and indeed it was good. Responsorial Psalm Ps 103:1-2. 56. 10. 1214

Today, throughout the entire world, the Church proclaims once again the wondrous news of the first disciples: "Jesus is risen!" – "He is truly risen, as he said!" The ancient feast of Passover, the commemoration of the liberation of the

Jewish people from slavery, reaches its completion with the resurrection of Jesus Christ who freed us from the slavery of sin and death, and opened the way for us to eternal life. When we let sin dominate our lives, we lose our

way on the right path, and we go wandering around like lost sheep. Our Shepherd, God himself, came searching for us. In order to save us, he lowered Himself to the humiliation of the cross. Today we can proclaim: "The Good

Shepherd has risen, who laid down his life for his sheep, and willingly died for his flock, alleluia!"

Loving God, you raised Jesus from the dead, and you raise us with him.

You have made for yourself a new people, washed in the wasters of baptism, sealed with the gift of the Spirit, invited to the table of Eucharist! In the beauty of this Easter day, Set our minds on the new life To which you have called us;

place on our lips the words of witness for which you have anointed us;

and ready our hearts to celebrate the festival With the unleavened bread of sincerity and

truth. We ask this prayer through your Son, the

Christ, our Passover and Peace,

Who lives and reigns with you In the unity of your Holy Spirit,

God, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing of Homes during Eastertide It is customary for homes to be blessed during the Easter season, this can be done by a member of the household.

All make the sign of the cross.

Leader: God fills our hearts and homes with peace Blessed be the name of the Lord

All: Now and for ever Leader: Christ, risen from the dead, is our hope, joy and comfort. May all who enter this home find Christ’s light and love.

This prayer may be said at the front door.

O God, make the door of this house wide enough to receive all who need human love and fellowship. narrow enough to shut our all envy, pride and strife.

Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling block to children, nor to straying feet, but rugged and strong enough to turn back the tempter’s power.

God, make the door of this house the gateway to your eternal kingdom. Grant this through Christ the Lord

All: Amen The house and rooms and family may be sprinkled with holy water, a reminder of baptism during the Easter season.

The leader then speaks the prayer of blessing then concludes with the Lord’s Prayer:

Lord, We rejoice in the victory of your Son over death: By rising from the tomb to new life, he gives us new hope and promise. Bless all the members of this household and surround them with your protection, that they may find comfort and peace in Jesus

Christ, the paschal lamb, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. All: Amen

All: The Lord’s Prayer…... All make the sign of the Cross

Leader: May Christ Jesus dwell with us, keep us from all harm, and make us one in mind and heart, now and for ever. All: Amen

The Paschal Vigil and Easter Sunday

The rites of Holy Week reach their climax during the Easter Vigil of Holy Saturday, the

“Mother of all Vigils.” The ceremony begins with the lighting of the new fire, the lighting of the

Paschal Candle, then the process to the sanctuary where the priest will preside at the Solemn Mass.

The Mass is notable for the chanting of the Exultet, the solemn proclamation of the

Resurrection of Jesus from the dead; and for the Baptismal liturgy which takes place after the

Liturgy of the Word. Finally, on the morning of Easter Sunday, we will celebrate the Solemn Mass of the Resurrection of

the Lord.

Heart to Action: Easter calls us to be Alleluia people!

This week give witness to Christ’s resurrection by being a person full of: awe, awareness, balance,

peace, possibility, presence, respect, vitality, wonder and zest.

In our thoughts this Eastertide Season
