    1/1

Peter 1:3 His divine power coupled with our knowledge of Him, gives us everything we need for life and godlinWhat part of His power are we tapping into to be abundantly supplied? His glory and goodness what are these?

In the OT God gives us four facets of His Nature: His Glory, His Goodness, His Name, and His Presence.

    lory

A state of great splendor, magnificence, or prosperity)xodus 16:7, 10 His Glory appearsand what is the result? Verses 11-18 prosperity, abundance, everyone has

lenty and no one is lacking.

When we tap into Gods Glory we find that all of lifes necessities are taken care of: Isnt this why Paul says AndGod will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19).

Glory also has a cleansing effect: Exodus 24:15-17, 29:42-43 the all-consuming fire of Gods glory brings

consecration. Things that were previously unholy are made holy through His Glory. Now why is this important to understand? Because Glory works in conjunction with Goodness

    oodness

To be good, be pleasing, be joyful, be beneficial, be pleasant, be favourable, be happy, be right) What did God see reation? (He saw that it was good).

The cleansing effect of the knowledge of Gods Glory made manifest in our lives can then pave the way for the inte

planting of Gods Goodness resulting in a return to the garden state a place where godliness reigns.Exodus 33:12-20 Moses asked to see Gods Glory and God replies by talking about His Goodness why?Moses has already seen the glory of God as it consumes, but he knows there is much more that hasnt been revealed

him; its at this point that God introduces His Goodness.

Watch how the two come one after the other: Exodus 33:21-23 The Glory of God goes first (accompanied by HiName, i.e., His Nature), and then comes the Goodness of God. The full effect makes up Gods Presence.

The Glory of God goes before Him to clear the path and the Goodness of God follows behind to leave a trail of life

where death used to reign. The same is true in our own lives and according to 2 Peter 1:3 His Glory and Goodness are all we need for life an

    godliness.

Name = nature: Exodus 34, Isaiah 7:14 God with us (not distant and angry but loving and close). His Name reve

that He is compassionate. This is absolutely needed because of His Glory without compassion we would beconsumed by His Holy Glory (Lamentations 3:21-23)

    Glory = splendor

Goodness = the exact opposite of sin (its faith that brings goodness goodness equals to be pleasant Hebrews 1

without faith its impossible to please God)

Presence = the full spectrum of the parts.Peter 1:4 Once weve grasped this, we recognize the fruit: great and precious promiseswhat are these? We all know were rescued from the power of darkness

We all know were made kings through the power of salvation

But were also changed into the likeness of Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:48-49) do you know what Jesus looks like?Revelation 1:12-17 Jesus looks so amazing that John falls down as though dead. One interesting thing how coJesus feet look like they do? Because ofIsaiah 52:7 Jesus preached the good news Luke 4:16-19.

Finally, how can we fulfill 2 Peter 1:10-11? Because ofColossians 1:25-27 Christ in you, the hope of glory!
