Week beginning 30-03-20 Literacy Numeracy Health & Wellbeing Monday News: Write a few sentences about your weekend and your plans for this week. Reading: Choose a book to read this week (remember the world book day link on class blog). Design a new front cover for the book you have chosen and if it’s a book you haven’t read before, write a prediction of what you think will happen and why you think that. Sumdog – I have set a new challenge on Sumdog for today. It starts at 11am and you will have until 3.15pm to complete it. This week’s challenge focusses on time. There was great activity on sumdog last week which is fantastic, let’s keep the excellent work going. We find ourselves in a unique position with schools being closed. It is a very strange, confusing and for some worrying time. To help us understand how we feel lets write it down. I want you to write a letter to your future self. It can be you in Primary 7 or even older if you wish. Explain in the letter how you feel at the moment with everything going on. It helps to get our worries out our heads and written down. Just a few sentences explaining this situation to your future self. You can also ask your future self a few questions in the letter that they will have to answer once it is opened. These can be any questions you want. Once you have written the letter, seal it away, keep it in a safe place and when the time comes, your future self can open the letter, read it and answer your questions. Start the letter Dear future self and finish by signing your name and current age. Happy writing :D Joe Wicks workout on Youtube. Art hub for kids

Choose any instructional drawing you like and use your artistic skills to carefully copy and colour.

Thursday Writing - Setting description. Choose one of the following options:

1) Draw your character from last weeks home, label all the nouns and write a setting description.

2) Look at the Enchanted forest picture below, label all the nouns and write a setting description.

Remember a setting description is rich with ambitious words describing everything you see (nouns). This helps the reader visualise a picture in their head. So the more descriptive, the more beautiful the picture in the readers head. Think about ‘ly’

Fractions

Please use the pictures below from our TeeJay textbooks to complete fractions questions. You only have to complete the page assigned to your group.

Triangles and Rectangles – Pg 138-139 “Quarter of Something”

Squares – Pg 180 – 181

Circles – Pg182-183

Unworry pack

Scroll down to see the “MOVE IT, MOVE IT” pages from our Unworry book in class. This focusses on being active and how that can help us become less worried. Have a read of both pages and then have some fun with the active parts.

Here’s a link to “Evolution of dance” to get you started

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-rSdt0aFuw&safe=active

Remember Just Dance on Youtube, get your parents involved for some unworry fun :D

openers and correct punctuation as well to make the description even more fantastic. :D

Friday Reading – Choose a character from the book you have been reading. Draw that character, list different words showing how the character felt during the story and write a few sentences explaining why the character felt that way.

Optional: write another book review on the “books books books” blog page for the book you chose at the beginning of the week.

Shape and fraction hunt:

Like we did in school, can you hunt around your house and find real life objects which are aso 2D or 3D shapes and maybe some objects which are already split into fractions? Any you do find you can either draw and label the object or you can take a picture with the shape/fraction written beside it and email the pictures.

Enjoy the hunt :D

As we have left our unworry packs in class, lets recreate a class favourite at home. On any piece of paper draw an island, your unworry island. On that island, fill it with all the people and objects you would have on the island to help you escape your worries. A place you can think of whenever you feel worried and focus on calmer and more comforting thoughts.

Egg decorating – In the run up to Easter lets decorate some eggs. You can hard boil a real egg and decorate or simply draw and decorate on a piece of paper. Either way, hopefully you have an eggcelent time decorating!
