L-Glutathione or Reduced Glutathione (GSH) is a physiologic tripeptide – a chain of

three amino acids – cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid. The tripeptide GSH is one of

and L-DOPA by interrupting L-DOPA's ability to bind to tyrosinase during melanin

synthesis. These results indicate that glutathione inhibits the synthesis and

agglutination of melanin by interrupting the function of L-DOPA. It is the master

contributes to good liver function.

Melanin

Skin colour is due primarily to the presence of a

pigment called melanin, which is controlled by at least

6 genes. Both light and dark complexioned people

have melanin. However, two forms are produced;

pheomelanin, which is red to yellow in colour, and

eumelanin, which is dark brown to black.

People with light complexioned skin mostly produce

pheomelanin, while those with dark coloured skin

mostly produce eumelanin.

In addition, individuals differ in the number and size of

melanin particles. The latter two variables are more important in determining skin

colour than the percentages of the different kinds of melanin.

The difference between African Skin and Caucasian Skin is the size and the

distribution of the melanosomes, the more they and the bigger they are, the

darker the skin.

melanocytes derived from white skin.

Black Skin is thicker than White Skin due to the Stratum Corneum having

In lighter skin, colour is also affected by red cells in blood flowing close to the

and carotene, a reddish-orange pigment in the skin. Hair color is also due to the

decreases in winter. The skin's ability to tan in summertime is due to

acclimatization of seasonal change.

Tanning is primarily an increase in the

number and size of melanin granules due to the

stimulation of ultraviolet radiation. While skin

tanning is often most noticeable on light

complexioned people, even those with very dark

brown skin can tan as a result of prolonged

exposure to the sun.

Melanin is normally located in the epidermis, or

outer skin layer. It is produced at the base of the

epidermis by specialized cells called melanocytes.

These cells have photosensitive receptors, similar to those in the eye, that

detect ultraviolet radiation from the sun and other sources. In response, they

Prepare Your Skin To ensure comfort, decide where to apply the
