THE present part is the last number to be issued under the above title. From Volume 8,Part 1, the title of the periodical will be changed to the Glasgow MathematicalJournal,which will continue to be issued twice yearly, in January and July. The size of eachpart will be increased from approximately 48 pages to approximately 64 pages and anew Volume, consisting of two parts, will be issued annually.

The prepaid subscription for each Volume is Forty Shillings (U.S.A. $6.50), postfree. Single parts may be supplied at a cost of Twenty Shillings each (U.S.A. $3.25),net.

Copies may be ordered direct from the publishers or from any bookseller.

Information for Contributors

While the Glasgow Mathematical Journal is intended primarily for Pure Mathe-matics, papers on Applied Mathematics will also be accepted. Manuscripts from allparts of the world will be welcomed and given careful consideration.

Manuscripts, preferably typed, should be prepared so as to conform with thepractice in current numbers of the Journal, especially with regard to line illus-trations, references, tables, and summaries. The name of the author and the date ofthe receipt of the manuscript will be printed under the title. Text figures must besuitable for line block reproduction, lettered in pencil, numbered, and separated fromthe text but allocated clearly to sections of the text.

References should be placed at the end of the paper, arranged and numberedin alphabetical order. In the text, reference numbers should be enclosed in squarebrackets and underlined, to distinguish them from formula numbers, which should bequoted in round brackets. The following particulars should be given, in the orderindicated:

for references to books—author, title, edition, place of publication, year ofpublication, page reference;

for references to articles in periodicals—author, title of article, short title ofperiodical, series no. (if any), volume no., year, pagination.

A proof is supplied once in galley form, together with an Order Form for off-prints. Offprints are supplied free to the number of twenty-five; additional copies,if ordered prior to publication, will be supplied, at cost, at the request of the contri-butor. Excessive corrections may be charged to the author.
