With increased pressure to integrate national security, the Gendarmerie Nationale (GN) – the French police force – is transforming with digital analysis. As one of the world’s vibrant social centers, Parisian social media traffic is high speed and high volume. So how do the police detect a rogue tweet laden with threads leading to terrorist cells? How can they tell where the next surge of auto thefts will occur? How can they equip a mobile force of more than 90,000 members and their vehicles for instant action?

The answer is predictive analytics used on the SAP HANA platform, which has enabled ®the efficient processing of both structured and unstructured data. Real-time resource optimization and crime prevention have been realized across a user base of more than 90,000 officials. Police chiefs use SAP Predictive Analytics software to select the ®most important patrol locations. Officers get needed data to predict burglary hot spots, while inventory staff are fed details to help optimize vehicle allocations. The software also helps them select the data that counts fast enough to take effective action. For that, SAP HANA has been proven to be the right match for the ultramodern cityscape of Paris.
