Members of Academic Advisory Body
Every branch of Gnanamani College of Engineering is having an Advisory committee to
monitor the progress of the academic activities. Each committee is chaired by the respective
HOD of that branch of study and consists of minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 5
members.
Frequency of Academic Advisory and Governing Board meeting
The academic advisory committee of each branch will meet minimum of 2 times in a year and
shall discuss various issues related to the academic activities. The committee
recommendations shall be forwarded to the Principal and member secretary of the Governing
Board who in turn put forward necessary information to the College Governing Board for
perusal of various issues raised. The Governing Board shall meet once in a year and if
necessary shall meet twice in a year.

Organizational chart and Process
Nature and extent of involvement of faculty and students in academic
affairs/improvements.
In order to have continual improvement in academic affairs and to have active
involvement of faculty and students in academic affairs the college executes the
following activities.
Faculty Advisor
Faculty Advisor is to help the students in planning their courses of study and for
general advises on the academic Programme. The Head of the Department of the
branches attach certain number of students to a teacher of the Department who shall function as Faculty Advisor for those students throughout the period of
their study. Such Faculty Advisor shall advice the students and monitors the
courses taken by the students. They will check the attendance and progresses of
the students attached to him/her and counsel them periodically. If necessary, the faculty advisor may also discuss with or inform the parents about the progress of
the students.
Class committee meeting
A class committee is formed for every class in which teachers of the concerned
class, student representatives and a chairperson who is not teaching that class
are members. It is like the Quality Circle (more commonly used in
industries) with the overall goal of improving the teaching-learning process.
The functions of the class committee includes
Solving problems experienced by students in the class room and in the
laboratories
Clarifying the regulation of the programme and the details of rules
therein
Informing the student representatives about the academic schedule

including the dates of assessments and the syllabus coverage for each
assessment
Informing the student representatives about the details of Regulations
regarding weightage used for each assessment. In the case of practical
courses (laboratory/drawing/project work/seminar etc.,) the breakup of
marks for each experiment or exercise/module of work, should be
clearly discussed in the class committee meeting and informed to the
students.
Analyzing the performance of the students of the class after each test
and finding ways and means of solving problems, if any.
Identifying the weak students, if any, and requesting the teachers
concerned to provide some additional help or guidance or coaching to
such weak students.
The class committee for a class under a particular branch is normally
constituted by the Head of the Department.
The class committee shall be constituted on the first working day of
semester/year or earlier as the case may be.
At least 4 student representatives (usually 2 boys and 2 girls) shall be included
in the class committee.
The chairperson of the class committee may invite the Faculty Advisor(s) and
the Head of the Department to the meeting of the class committee.
The Head of the Institution may participate in any class committee of the
institution.
The chairperson is required to prepare the minutes of every meeting and submit
the same to the Head of the Institution within two days of the meeting and
arrange to circulate among the concerned students and teachers. If there are
some points in the minutes requiring action by the management, the same shall
be brought to the notice of the management by the Head of the Institution.
Course committee for common courses
Each common theory course offered to more than one discipline or group shall
have a “Course Committee” comprising all the teachers teaching the common
course with one of the Course Coordinator shall be made chairman by the Head
of the Department/Head of the Institution depending upon whether all the
teachers teaching the common course belong to a single Department or to
several departments. The “Course Committee” shall meet as often as possible
and ensure the tests. Where it is feasible, the course committee may also
prepare a common question paper for the test(s).
Mechanism /Norms and procedure for democratic / good Governance
The trust of the college has got laws and by laws, which Govern

administration as per the requirement of administration of any charitable
Institution.
The Institute strictly follows the norms laid down by the All India
Council for Technical Education, Director of Technical Education of
Government of TamilNadu and Anna University to which Gnanamani
College of Engineering is affiliated, paving way for the democratic and
good governance.
The Institution also provides required funds to recurring and capital
cost for maintaining the high standard of Education.

Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students
System for Redressel of grievances of faculty, staff and students
The management of the college follows an open system of
administration and grievances from staff and students are given the
utmost attention.
Complaints and suggestion boxes are kept at a number of places in the campus and also in the hostels.
The suggestions and complaints are carefully looked into and remedial
measures undertaken. Responses are also published through notice
boards.
In case of indiscipline, a committee appointed by the principal enquires
into the matter by calling witnesses and recommendations are made
about the action to be taken by the management.
Grievances regarding the staff in terms of salary, promotions etc., are
carefully looked into by the HR department in consultation with the
Secretary and remedial measures are taken.
Class Committee meetings are held in which grievances of students are
taken note of and remedial measures are taken.
Student welfare office looks into the welfare of the students and advice
the management for necessary action.

Compute the bill amount using the following tariff.
