Julian and his student team are also collecting textbooks and other school supplies that they plan to take to Bhutan. They plan to launch a fund-raising initiative this fall to enable a number of Bhutanese students to travel to Weston this coming winter. “Our goal is to help Bhutan to educate students and to preserve its gross national happiness, which is what sets Bhutan apart from the rest of the world,” Julian said.

A group of six Weston High School students will travel to Bhutan this summer as part of a Weston-Bhutan student cultural exchange through which they will teach Bhutanese students a variety of subjects, while living in Bhutan, a remote country between China and India.

Julian Jacobs, a junior at Weston High School, launched this program following a trip to Bhutan last summer in which he learned that the Royal Education Council of Bhutan was seeking to broaden the education of Bhutanese students by exposing them to Western culture.
