What is Go Fest sydney?GO Fest Sydney is a missions gathering with a twist. On top of a schedule packed with inspiring speakers, passionate worship, and practical workshops, you’ll have an immediate opportunity to put it all into action by going with a team on a local or international outreach.

How the ‘GO’ in Go Fest worksThe heart of GO Fest Sydney is that you’d have the opportunity to put into practice what you’ve just learned at the conference. Prior to the event, we’ll get you connected with a service opportunity from our network of missions organisations, or encourage you to arrange a visit to serve alongside a missionary that you know. Following the gathering you can head directly to your outreach during NSW and QLD school holidays.

Come with a team or on your ownBring your youth group, school group, sports team, all-generational group, or just a few mates! If you come on your own, we’ll prayerfully consider a team for you that best suits your preferences.

Hosted by:Youth With A Mission in partnership with churches, mission groups, businesses and charities. Since its inception in 1960, YWAM has had a passion to mobilise young people and to equip churches and believers to become a part of the story of the Great Commission. We are inspired by people who ‘GO’ and make disciples in the marketplace, in communities, and in the least reached places of the world.

Short-Term mission

“Part of our long-term strategy for community development is to build relationship and to strengthen the capacity of local schools. Recently, a short-term team was able to kickstart this work by offering English teaching and activities to several local schools. The team has laid a valuable foundation for future partnership in the development of our first community centre.”

Nicole ARK International, Thailand

“Over the past 30 years we have received several short-term teams and the kids loved them, and were inspired by them to look beyond their limited world of slum and hostel. The interaction creates a new mindset in some and a determination to break the endless cycle of poverty. We now have kids that are motivated to study and work. It is this lasting legacy—the most valuable to us—that teams, often unawares, leave behind.”

Frank Prem Sewa, India

The value of

“During our 17 years in Thailand, we have hosted and been blessed by almost every type of short-term team one can imagine! Without exception, every single team has blessed us and inspired us to carry on with our work here. Whether it was the marching band from a California Christian high school, or a ‘skipping’ team that drew a crowd for us to share the Gospel with, God has used each person to expand our reach into new communities and people groups. Short-term teams come with passion and zeal to see the Glory of God revealed in Thailand and to bless and pray for us as missionaries and our children.”

“When our class went on a mission trip to Fiji it was an amazing experience! Our team built a chicken shed, ate funky foods, played with kids at an orphanage and connected with a local church. It was awesome to see God’s heart for that nation and to be a part of what He’s doing there. The trip had such a positive impact on me. I definitely recommend it!”

hannah Year 12 Student, NSW

“As a missions leader I’ve seen that short-term efforts are tremendously valuable not only to the individuals that go, but also those they go to serve. I’ve seen teams encour-age and refresh long-term missionaries as they bring more manpower to the projects and goals already established in the nation. It’s been incredible to see students ‘come alive’ through short-term trips and get further understanding of the diversity of missions and the unique role they can play in it.”

Much violence and sadness exists in our world. Egomania and exploitation.Chaos and decay. We could go on and on.

And yet, the moment Jesus drew that first breath of resurrected life, everything began to change.

Obviously, it’s not over yet. One look around makes it clear that Sin and Death are still running rampant. But Scripture teaches that Christ’s triumph set off a chain reaction that is bringing those oppressive powers to their final end.

The Apostle Paul said, “If anyone is in

Christ, the New Creation has come: the old is gone, the new is here!” And God’s taken it even further, naming us ambassa-dors for the New Creation and inviting us into his massive project of reconciliation.

As ambassadors, we’ve collectively been given the title ‘The Body of Christ.’ Our primary function is to demonstrate God’s love and belonging toward each other and every creature in every area of life: in families, education, the arts, economics, healthcare and science, government, religion, and so on.

One of the biggest challenges before us

Why go?

Page 7: GO Fest Sydney Prospectus

is that there are still places in the world where people have never heard the name of Jesus or understood that He came to make friendship with God a possibility. Over 2 billion people haven’t had the chance to know God the way that many of us take for granted.

These places, not coincidentally, are where the biggest challenges of humanity are being played out: war, devastating poverty, lack of clean water, lack of healthcare and education. Jesus is pointing towards these fields and asking if we will go there with Him.

Therefore, we GO…

-by forging friendships with neighbours, whether they’re next door or overseas. -by embracing the poor and marginalised. -by visiting and praying for the sick and imprisoned. -by loving our enemies as Jesus taught.-by introducing Jesus to those we meet.

We GO because Jesus came.

“And God has given us this task of reconcilingpeople to him...So We are christ’s ambassadors...”

-2 Cor 5: 18b, 20a (NLT)

Something significant happens when we come together with mutual respect; recognising our common goals AND our inability to succeed in these without the whole Body of Christ working together.

Just as God gave the Hebrews biblical festivals, we also benefit from events and occasions which draw us together:

to be encouraged and to celebrateto get to know and learn from each otherto develop vision on how to partner together

Our desire is that GO Fest Sydney will serve to connect, strengthen and send us out in a unified spirit. We would love to partner with you at GO Fest Sydney!

How to get involved:

1. Send a team + leader to the 4-day Go Fest event, then out to support an established initiative of your organisation.

2. Identify one of your long term projects that would benefit from a team coming to serve: Provide on-the-ground direction. 3. Send a team from your mentoring program to join an outreach organised through Go Fest. 4. Represent your organisation at Go Fest with a display table and representatives. 5. Apply to lead a Go Fest workshop in your area of expertise.
