Z u s a m m e n f a s s u n g

ieser Beitrag ist einem Bereich des literarischen Schaffens gewidmet, der im sdslavischen Sprachraum mehr als anderwrts in Europa bis in die Gegenwart bestim-mend war und in groen Teilen dieser Region bis ins 19. Jh. hinein die wichtigste ue-rungsform darstellte. Gemeint ist die Volksliteratur und hier im besonderen die serbische Volksdichtung, deren bertragung und Rezeption in eutschland ich an einigen Beispielen interpretiere.

Hierbei wende ich mich in wesentlichen vier Fragenkomplexen zu:Motivation und Ziel der bertragungen,Formale und sthetische Prinzipien der bertragung,Auseinandersetzung mit den bertragenen Liedinhalten undBreitenwirkung und interkulturelle ynamik der literarischen bertragungen.Zwischen diesen vier Komplexen besteht ein kausaler Zusammenhang. Betrachtet wird eine Periode, die sich in eutschland vom Sturm und rang in der

zweiten Hlfte des 18. Jh.s bis etwa zur Mitte des 19. Jh.s erstreckte. ies ist die Blte des Volksliedes in Europa schlechthin. Zentrale Rolle fr die Hinwendung der eutschen zu den Serben und ihrer Volksdichtung nimmt Herder und seine Entdeckung des Volkes sowie des Volksliedes ein. Fr Herder wie fr Goethe stellte die Volkspoesie den unmittelbaren und wahren Ausdruck der Empfindung und der ganzen Seele dar. In diesem Zusammen-hang wandten sich die eutschen seit Herder begierig den Balkanslawen zu, denn hier entdeckten sie etwas, das in ihrem eigenen Umfeld seit langem in Vergessenheit geraten war: eine lebendige Erzhlgemeinschaft und eine Liedkultur, die der deutsche Rezipienten als schlicht und ursprnglich, zugleich auch fremd und archaisch empfand und die dem literarischen Zeitgeschmack in eutschland gerade deshalb in hohem Mae entsprach. ies war die glcklichste Zeit der deutsch-serbischen Beziehungen. Goethe, Talfj (Therese Albertine Luise von Jakob) und Grimm von deutscher sowie Vuk Stefanovi Karadi und Jernej Kopitar von sdslawischer Seite arbeiteten eng zusammen. Es entstanden zahlreiche bertragungen serbischer Volkslieder durch Goethe, aber vor allem durch Talfj.

In dem Beitrag werden die oben genannten vier Kriterien im Zusammenhang mit den bertragungen ins eutsche und der Rezeption in eutschland behandelt.

Following the history of origin and reception of Vrevis collections, we include a survey of the reviews of this corpus and humorous tale classification to date. e point to the specific character of the material, authenti3city of the records, complexity of rela-tions between oral and written texts. Apart from the context of improvisation and editing the records for publication, the variants exhibit the international features of the chosen subject-matter (motifs, typical hero) and the local touch of the setting, the collectors editing, and the specificity of the humour category. e lay emphasis on the preface to the first volume, and we draw particular attention to the relations of these variants to Vuks Proverbs collection.

VREVIS LITERARY TALES AN THE QUESTION OF EFINING FOLKLORE

S u m m a r y

Vrevis collections were labelled literary in the 1868 collection. They were recorded as heard from priests and monks. Therefore, later research denied their folk character. Such denial stems from an essentially Romantic conception of folklore as an expression of the illiterate stratum of the nation best preserving the national spirit. If, on the other hand, folklore is taken more broadly, as artistic communication in a smaller group (Ben-Amos), it is clear that these tales are an aspect of internal folklore invented among the clerics, which is transmitted both in written and oral forms.

VREVIS COLLECTIONS OF SERBIAN FOLK GAMES AS A SOURCE FOR STUYING ORAL RAMA

S u m m a r y

The paper discusses Vuk Vrevis extraordinary contribution as a collector and editor of folk games. The subject of our study is his specific style of describing games and a number of comments on the context of the performance itself, which are invaluable to further research. Namely, the time and setting of the performance unequivocally indicate that this sort of oral creation is fundamentally related to fertility rituals and folk culture of laughter, which Vrevi comprehended exceptionally well. Besides, Vrevis classification of games is also surveyed, and consequently special attention is drawn to those types (of games) in which scenic elements dominate, so they are interpreted as specific forms of oral (folkloral) theatre. The latter section of the paper singles out and analyses its basic elements, like stage entrance, acting, actors (performers), audience, costumes and masks.

A CHARACTERISTIC OF ORAL FOLK CREATION, OR FOLK LITERATURE

S u m m a r y

The text treats the double nature of folk literature, i.e. oral creation. For centuries oral memory, oral transmission of historical events, traditional ethnic and aesthetic values had persisted in the Balkan parts. Such oral memory and transmission had the value and role of a sacred written text. However, another aspect of oral folk creation survived, which implied an active and adaptable interaction between the addresser and the addressee of the message. In the former case, we encounter a sacred text which should essentially never change, even when it is not comprehensible enough. In the latter, on the other hand, the adaptability of the message to the addressees expectations was an imperative in its own right.
