Psalm 119
1. You must appreciate the virtues of the Word of God.
a. Because it is a timeless book.
Psalm 119:89 89
Lord, Your word is forever; it is firmly fixed in heaven.
Psalm 119:152 152
Long ago I learned from Your decrees that You have
established them forever.
Psalm 119:160 160
The entirety of Your word is truth, and all Your righteous
judgments endure forever.
b. It is a truthful book.
Psalm 119:142 142
Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your
instruction is true.

You are near, Lord, and all Your commands are true.
2 Timothy 3:16 16
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching,
for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness,

How do you assimilate the Word of God?
a. Pray over it.
Psalm 119:12 12 Lord, may You be praised; teach me Your statutes.

Open my eyes so that I may contemplate wonderful things from
Your instruction.

Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

that I can learn Your commands.
b. You ponder it.

I will meditate on Your precepts and think about Your ways.

Your promise.
Six questions to ask whenever you begin to study God’s Word.
1. Is there a promise to claim?
2. Is there a lesson to learn?
3. Is there a blessing to enjoy?4. Is there a command to obey?
5. Is there a sin to avoid?
6. Is there a new thought to carry with me?
c. You preserve it.
Psalm 119:11 11
I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin
against You.

I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.d. you must practice it.

How happy are those whose way is blameless, who live
according to the Lord’s instruction!2
