Managers and Council officers will be on hand to talk to the
community at our special conversation post on Saturday 23 June,
12-3pm at the Inverleigh Reserve, on the day of the Inverleigh vs.
Bannockburn match.
We’ll be there to discuss issues important to you and take your
feedback. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and discuss
any concerns you might have, directly with Council. This particular
Conversation Post is part of a new calendar of pop-up
‘Conversations with Council’, which are being held across the Shire

I’d like to congratulate the 16 men who completed the 10-week
Smythesdale Sons of the West program. Their stellar efforts were
recognised at the graduation celebration in May, where we were also
joined by football legend, Tony Liberatore. Participants committed
to improving their knowledge and health over the 10 weeks, and we
are extremely proud of them. Stories from the participants indicate
that the program has changed lives in a positive manner, inspiring
them to make sustainable lifestyle changes.
34 local young people, aged 12-15, are currently stepping out of
their comfort zones and embarking on adventures that advance their
personal development, as part of GPS Adventures, a program funded
by VicHealth. So far the participants have gone on excursions to
the You Yangs National Park and Surf Coast Mountain Bike Park – we
hope they enjoy the rest of the program!

HAVE YOUR SAY – INVERLEIGH STRUCTURE PLAN
The Inverleigh Structure Plan provides a strategic framework to
establish the basis for future land use planning decisions for the
town.
The Structure Plan indicates a preferred layout of residential,
commercial, community and other land uses based on a 15 year
outlook.
Community members are invited to provide feedback on the draft
Structure Plan framework for Inverleigh. Council would love to hear
from all Inverleigh residents, business owners, stakeholders, and
visitors at one of our pop up conversation posts (Saturday 16 June
2018, 9am-12pm, Inverleigh town centre; Saturday 23 June 2018,
12pm-3pm, Inverleigh Recreation Reserve). Community members will
also be able to provide feedback on the draft Structure Plan
framework online in June from Monday 18 June 2018 - Monday 2 July
2018 on our website at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations

BOWLING WITH BABIES
Council’s Maternal and Child Health team, in partnership with
Bannockburn Bowls Club, Leisure Networks and with support from
‘Geelong Mums’, is running five weekly sessions of ‘Bowling with
Babies’.
In our first week, 13 mums and 16 babies came along to soak up
the sunshine, meet new people and enjoy some physical activity!
It’s a great way to meet and connect with other mums in a
baby-friendly environment with plenty of room for prams – your
babies can spend time in prams, on blankets or crawling on the
green. Older babies are welcome and all children are the
responsibility of parents. So if you are looking for an opportunity
to get outside during the day with your babies and also get a

PICK YOUR PROJECT IMPORTANT NOTICES
Have you heard about the State Government’s ‘Pick My Project’
community grants initiative? ‘Pick your project’ gives Victorians
the chance to suggest ideas and decide which projects will most
improve their communities – $30M has been allocated to fund
community ideas around the State. Ideas could focus on funding for
sport and recreation activities, improving health and wellbeing,
innovation, arts and culture and ideas that improve community and
