PRIORITY ON THE COURSE
In the absence of special rules, two-ball matches have precedence over, and are entitled to pass, any three or four-ball match.
Any match playing a whole round is entitled to pass a match playing a shorter round.
If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses more than one clear hole on the match in front, it should allow the match following to pass.
A single player has no standing and should give way to a match of any kind.
DRESS CODE
When using the course, the practice areas and the clubhouse facilities, members are requested to adhere to the following dress code:• Collared shirts• Tailored trousers• Tailored shorts• Socks and shoes
The following type of clothing is not permitted:• Denim jeans• Tracksuits• Trainers• Collarless shirts• Untailored shorts• Golf shoes and hats are not to be worn in the clubhouse
Visiting golfers are expected to adhere to the dress code.

General Information
Competitions in bold are open to Gents but are run by another section
MENS SWINDLES
On various days, and weekends when there is not a club competition, ‘swindles’ are organised by club members. Any member can play in these ‘swindles’ and draws will be made at the following times. For more information see the club notice board.

MENS MEDAL AND STABLEFORD QUALIFIERS
These Qualifiers can be played at the same time as a ‘swindle’, or at any other time during the day when the individual has to arrange his own partner and tee-time.
Please make every effort to complete your 4 Ball in no more than 4 hrs 15 mins

COMPETITION GUIDELINES
The Committee hope that members will take competitions sufficiently seriously to realise that with a large of entrants it is both very difficult for the organisers, and inconsiderate to fellow competitors to fail to arrive in good time or not be ready to play at their allotted time. The Committee also point out that members must make an effort to acquaint themselves with The Rules of Golf, the local rules on the reverse of the scorecard and any additional local rules posted on the notice boards from time to time. Disputes and decisions are covered under Rule 34. While it may be difficult and unpleasant to be exact in the enforcement of rules, the Committee believe that most golfers prefer to take part in a properly run event and to this end authority will be exercised to ensure that events are run as smoothly and fairly as possible.
1 ENTRIES
Competition entry forms will be posted on the notice board well in advance of an event and will show a closing date. The forms will be removed and a draw made so that starting times can be displayed at least one week before an event. Members are welcome to observe the draw if they wish. Players are asked NOT to amend any competition draw without permission from the competition starter or assistant. Players withdrawing from a competition must inform the competition starter.
2 RESERVES
The Committee wish to encourage as many members as possible to play in competitions. If the competition format allows reserves and you become available and wish to play after the competition draw is made, please enter your name on the Reserves List where indicated, report to the starters at least 15 minutes before the first allotted tee time of the competition, and you should be accommodated.
3 COMPETITION STARTERS AND ENTRANCE FEES
Competitors must report personally to the starter at least 15 minutes prior to their allotted tee time in order to pay entry fees and collect cards. They should then proceed to the tee and be ready to play at their allotted time. Please note that the penalty for a breach of rule 6-3 regarding starting time is DISQUALIFICATION, although at the discretion of the Committee this may not apply to a partner in a 4-ball match. Members are re-minded that they have made a commitment to play when their name appears on the draw sheet. Failure to play does not exclude payment of the entrance fee, and could result in that member’s exclusion from one or more future competitions. At the completion of a round all competition cards must be completed (scores checked, handicap recorded, and signed by the competitor and marker) and returned to the finishers in the New Trophy Room. “No Returns” must also be returned.
4.1 MENS MEDAL COMPETITIONS
Any man wishing to play in a medal competition must enter and pay before playing. To do this he must go to the Competition Desk at the New Trophy Room stairwell, enter his name in the Competition Book, put his entry fee in an envelope provided, write his name, entry number and the date on the envelope and put it in the Competition Box on the desk top. All cards (including “No Returns”) must be put in this Competition Box when completed. [Swindle Organisers may need to see card prior to this for countback purposes].
4.2 MENS SINGLES AND DOUBLES COMPETITIONS
As the first rounds of these Competitions are to be played by displayed dates players must pay their entry fees before playing their first matches by putting them in a suitably marked envelope and posting them into the medal box on the Competition Desk at the New Trophy Room stairwell. Failure to pay before playing will result in disqualification and reinstatement of any defeated player.
COMPETITION GUIDELINES
4.3 LADIES MEDAL COMPETITIONS
Any Lady wishing to play in a medal competition must enter her name in the Competition book located in the Ladies locker room before playing. All cards (including“No Returns”) must be put in the Competition Box when completed with scores checked, handicap recorded and signed by the player and her marker.
5 PRIOR YEAR DECISIONS
Past Rulings made by the Tournament Committee must not be considered as a precedent for situations that may arise in the future.
6 HALVED MATCHES AND TIES
Matchplay: Halved matches shall normally be resolved by continuing play until a result is obtained (Sudden Death). Such holes as are played are regarded as a continuance of the round. Strokeplay: Ties in Medalplay, Stableford and Bogey competitions shall be decided by a count-back over the Back 9 (10-18), Back 6 (13-18), Back 3 (16-18), Back 1 (18), Front 9 (1-9), Front 6 (4-9), Front 3 (7-9) then Front 1 (9). If a result is still not obtained the count-back shall continue over holes stroke index 1, 2, 3, etc. Any special count-back methods (e.g. multi-rounds) will be defined in the Competition Bible.
7 THE RULES OF GOLF
The Committee would like to bring the following points to the attention of all members. RULE 33 states, inter alia, that the Committee shall lay down the conditions under which a competition is to be played, and that it shall arrange the order and times of starting. RULE 6 states that the player shall be responsible for knowing the conditions under which the competition is to be played and that he shall start at the time and in the order arranged by the Committee. The Committee has no power to waive a Rule of Golf but in VERY EXCEPTIONAL individual cases, a penalty of disqualification may be modified or waived.
8. C.O.N.G.U. HANDICAPPING
Handicaps are adjusted as a result of scores or ‘no returns’ in qualifying competitions. Strokeplay, Bogey and Stableford competitions fall into this category and are marked (Q) in the calendar.

COURSE ETIQUETTE
No one should move, talk, stand close to, or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke.
The player who has the honour should be allowed to play before his opponent or fellow competitor tees his ball.
No player should play until the players in front are out of range.
In the interest of all, players should play without delay.
Players searching for a ball should CALL UP the following group without delay but only invite them to play through if the ball is not found by the time they should hold their place in the round and continue without delay. Players are reminded that they have five minutes to find a lost ball.
Before leaving a bunker a player should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes and footprints made by him.
Through the green a player should ensure that any part of turf cut or displaced by him is replaced and pressed down at once, and that any damage to the putting green made by a ball is carefully repaired. On completion of the hole any damage done to the green caused by golf shoe spikes should be repaired.
When putting down bags or the flagstick, players should ensure that no damage is done to the putting green and that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing close to it while handling the flagstick or removing the ball from the hole. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before players leave the putting green.
As soon as a hole is completed and any damage repaired, players should immediately leave the putting green.
