s Principal’s News,

What a start to our busy term. We already have many activities prepared for the term and as the term progresses we will keep you informed of what is happening.

Goodooga Youth Centre The Youth Centre opened last week from 3.30pm to 6.00pm. There was a great roll up of students each afternoon. Karen Wood is currently employed through MPREC to be the coordinator however to operate there must be at least 2 adults present each afternoon. Thanks to Brother Pat and Kevin Hooper they have volunteered some afternoons but a more permanent roster is needed so there are enough adults present. If you want your children / grandchildren to be able to go to the Youth Centre each afternoon and during holidays then please consider putting your name on the roster to help of an afternoon. The Youth Centre is a great resource for our community but requires your support through volunteering. Please see Karen or Mindy to put your name on the roster. Unfortunately on those afternoons where there are not two adults present the Youth Centre will not be able to open.

Use of the School Canteen Parents and students and staff are encouraged to use the school canteen. Marie & Patsy & Joanne provide a good range of food at reasonable prices every day. Parents and carers are able to put money in credit at the canteen and Marie will let you know when it is almost used up. Students should only leave the school grounds at lunch or recess to go home.

Healthy Outback Garden / Community Garden During the term the Healthy Outback Kids Garden which is part of the bigger community garden at the back of the school will be officially opened by Kevin Humphries. We do not have a date yet but will let everyone know when it will be on.

K-6 School Excursion The excursion for primary students will be in week 9. A letter has been sent out with the cost of the excursion with a brief itinerary. Cost per student will be $80.00 and if you have two children going on the excursion the cost will be $150.00. This is very heavily subsidised through fundraising and donations to the school. More details will be sent home as the date gets closer. The Front Office will accept payments from now on. Please feel free to pay off your contribution weekly, fortnightly etc.

Rugby League Gala Day Students from Year 3 to 6 travelled to Brewarrina yesterday to play in the carnival. Luckily it was not as hot as it has been. Students from Weilmoringle also joined our teams for the day. They love joining in with us. Well done to those students who really made an effort all day. It is timely to remind parents and students that if you commit to playing in a team you are expected to play in all games and support the team members.

Year 12 and HSC Year 12 completed their formal schooling at the end of last term. Both Amy and Ashleigh were presented with a small gift and card at the end of term assembly. Ashleigh is now preparing for her exam in Society & Culture on October 31

st. Best

s Kindergarten and Stage 1 students did great work last week writing an explanation about how a star is born. Their work will be on display in the front school foyer for you to come and look at. For the next few weeks in Reading to Learn students will be learning how to write a recount which is about a journal entry.

In C.A.P.A. – Art, the students are creating a seascape artwork which comprises cutting, gluing and using different types of painting techniques. During Music lessons the students of K-1-2 are continuing to learn the song “Paint You a Song’ with the rest of the Primary students where they will perform the song in week 6 along with other schools across Australia and New Zealand.

This term the students will be learning about Celebrations [family, community, cultural, religious, national and international] that people come together to remember.

In PDH with Mr Banks the students will be learning that there is only one of them and they are unique and in PE they will be learning gymnastics.

Here are some photos of the students seascapes so far:
