Principal

Krista Kiemele
Vice-Principal

I’m amazed at how quickly time goes by. This year has moved along at an extremely quick pace and there
have been so many positive things that have occurred at Gordon this year. We would like to wish our gradu-
ates much success in the future. Always be proud that you have graduated as a Grizzly. To the families that
will be leaving Gordon, we will miss you. To the staff who are leaving us, thank you for your wonderful con-
tribution to Gordon. We will miss you!
My time at Gordon has come to an end. It has been an absolute honor to be the principal of Gordon. The
students, staff and community have always made me feel welcome and valued as a principal and a human
being. It is my sincere hope that I have helped each and every individual in some way and that I am leaving
Gordon in a good place. Five and a half years has simply gone way too quickly. I wish all of you the absolute
best in your future endeavors and thank you in advance for you continued support of a great school!
Please join me in welcoming Mr. Jay MacJanet as your new Principal. Please make him feel as welcome as
you did when I arrived a few years ago.
Sincerely,
Tony D’Alessandro
On behalf of the Gordon staff and students, we would like to thank Mr. D for all that he has done to
make Gordon a great place. He has had a positive impact on both students and staff, leaving be-
hind many wonderful memories.
We wish him all the best as he moves on and we thank him for supporting all Grizzlies to be their
very best, each and every day.
We will miss you!!!!!!!

On Friday, June 14th Gordon sent 15 athletes to compete at the District Track and Field meet. In order to qualify, these athletes had to finish 1st or 2nd place at Gordon and then come in the top 4 when competing against a large group of other schools’ top athletes. That already is an amazing accomplishment!
Please congratulate the following students on advancing to the district meet. Sabrina D, Ashlyn A, Izzy B, Addisyn B, Calli C, Izzy N, Sarah S, Lauren C, Nina G, Sera D, Ian M, Dustin L, Jackson B, Cameron L and Ethan N. At the meet, everyone performed admirably and were excellent ambassadors for Gordon.
We would like to recognize a few students who were able to rise to the top even when facing the best that DSBN has to offer. Sabrina D finished 3rd in long jump with a distance of 3.44m. Izzy N finished 1st in the 1500 with a time of 5:34 and finished 2nd in the 800M with a time of 2:41. Izzy B finished 4th in triple jump with a distance of 9.23m. Ethan N finished 8th in long jump with a distance of 4.7m.
Way to go Grizzlies!
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY SUMMER
Gordon's Junior 3 pitch team had an AWESOME day at Memorial Park. They demonstrated superb sports-manship and excellent skill as they went undefeated into the championship game, taking down Princess Elizabeth, Glendale, Diamond Trail and McKay! Although they lost to a talented Quaker team in the cham-pionships, this team was a strong representation of Gordon Grizzly ath-letes. Mrs. Bendlis is very proud of this team.
Way to go Grizzlies!!
Team members include: Jordan G, Autumn P, Ashlyn A, Peyton M, Ri-ley R, Hunter D, Jack I, Dustin L, Travis G, Hayden D, Jesse P and Quintin B.
TRANSPORTATION On Monday, August 19, 2019 Niagara Student Transportation Services (NSTS) will post spe-cific back to school transporta-tion arrangements for each stu-dent enrolled at the school. Please visit www.nsts.ca and sign-in to the secure parent por-tal to get your child’s student transportation information. To sign-in to the portal you will need your child’s Ontario Edu-cation Number (OEN) which can be found on their report card. While you are there, please subscribe to the delay and cancellation module for di-rect and timely emails regarding student transportation that im-pacts your child. Changes to home, pick-up and/or drop-off addresses must be made through your child’s school. During the summer you may notify NSTS of address changes so a bus stop is availa-ble for your child to start the school year, however, NSTS is not authorized to change student address information. With the availability of the se-cure parent portal, NSTS will not mail student transportation notices with the exception of Kindergarten students or new students to the system who do not have an OEN to sign-in to the portal. Please contact your school or NSTS if you have questions regarding your child’s transportation arrangements.
LOCKS FOR LOCKERS
For students who wish to have locks on their
lockers next year, we are asking that you pur-
chase (if you do not have one already) a com-
bination lock. Locks with keys will not be per-
mitted next year. Combinations will also be
expected to be given to homeroom teachers at the start of
the year.

If you have recently moved or know
you are moving over the summer

DSBN Special Olympics Committee
On behalf of the DSBN Special Olympics Committee,
we would like to thank each and every person who
attended this year’s amazing event! It was a magical
day! We cannot express how incredible the staff and
volunteers were. Parents shared many wonderful
comments with us throughout the day regarding the
passion, the enthusiasm and the dedication towards
putting smiles on the faces of all the athletes. It was
you, the teachers, the EA’s teammates, the volun-
teers, who made that happen! You truly made it a
very special day!
Thank You ,Thank You ,Thank You!!!
