Chapter LXXX: A New World

Before Jin entered his hotel, he double-checked the address and nodded to himself.

He was at the right place. Once Jin entered the hotel though, he found himself in a wholedifferent world. There were cardboard cutouts of his favorite video game characters. Therewere people selling video game merchandise, such as soundtracks and keychains. In thecorner of the room, there was already a group of gamers chatting on their DS even thoughthey were standing next to each other.

Jin pinched himself and asked, Is this heaven?Once he recovered though, he quickly went up to the front desk to sign himself in.

While he waited for the man at the counter to take care of his room, he couldn't help butlook around him to see what everyone else was doing. There was a girl who was sitting on acouch by herself, concentrating on her PSP. There were a couple of boys who were playingMagic. Out of the various groups, there was one loud bunch with both girls and boys, who

were arguing about which Final Fantasy game was the best. More than ever, Jin wanted todrop his luggage in his room and quickly join everyone else.

Since you registered late, explained the hotel worker. Your room is on the highestfloor. Is that all right with you?

Jin beamed. It's fine! I like elevators!Once Jin had received his room key, Jin dashed off as quickly as possible to the

elevator. When the elevator door opened, Jin was knocked back by a crowd of people, halfof which was wearing a video game-related t-shirt. At the sight of their t-shirts, Jin gaspedand realized that he must be standing out so much by wearing a jacket and tie. Why didJezebelle have to throw out most of his old shirts?

Inside the elevator, Jin noticed the man next to him wearing a t-shirt that read 'I Play

Video Games Like It's My Job'. Jin's eyes shone at the shirt. He must find a way to buy thatshirt online. It was his short-term goal for now.

Not long after Jin decided this, the man in shorts noticed Jin drooling over his shirt,Kid, shouldn't you be in school?

Jin saluted him. I'm skipping school for the tournament!You're participating in the tournament?Nodding frantically, Jin said, You too, sir?Yeah, I am, said the man carelessly, trying hard to ignore the teddy bear Jin was

carrying. I thought you were some kind of pretty boy from those boy bands, but I guessnot.

Jin was too happy for words. Let's be friends!

The man was taken aback. Sure?Let's exchange friend codes!By the time Jin arrived in front of his hotel room, he managed to get five friend

codes from different people he had met along the way. Humming Zelda's Lullaby andinserting the door key to his room, Jin had never felt so happy before. What could ruin hishappiness? The answer came a few seconds later when someone screamed out Pervert!and went to smack him on the head with a controller.

Ow, said Jin, rubbing his head.How did you get in my room?

Jin groaned and opened his eyes. But this is my room... I think...When Jin fully recovered, he noticed the girl on the floor next to him. She had large

brown eyes and long brown hair. As far as Jin noticed, she looked like a high school studentlike him. However, before he could observe her further, she hit him several more times withher controller. Jin noticed she wasn't done wearing her shirt. Before he could say anything,she started kicking him toward the door. In a matter of seconds, he was kicked out of his

own room. Jin felt like crying because he had been accused of being a pervert when he haddone nothing wrong.Excuse me, said Jin, banging on her door. I dropped my teddy bear in there.Get out of here, you pervert!Jin groaned. There must be some misunderstanding. This is my room...No! This is my room!What am I supposed to do? asked Jin, frowning.Even though Jin decided to sit there and wait for her to leave her room, he began to

become extremely hungry. Sighing, Jin decided to figure this out later and went downstairsto head for the cafeteria. Sitting by himself, Jin couldn't really figure what he wanted toeat. He rarely ate at an expensive hotel by himself. Usually, he would either be with Rin or

his parents and he could ask them what he should eat. Now that he thought about it, hedidn't want to pick carelessly and waste his parents' money.May we join you? The tables are filling up quickly.Jin beamed at the three Asian girls. Sure! Please do.It didn't take long for Jin to notice that the girls who joined him were college

students. Actually, for the most part, everyone around here were around that age or older.Except for the girl in his room, Jin noticed that he was the only one his age. Then again, itmade sense since high school students should be in school right now. Jin was only herebecause of extreme circumstances...

After they ordered, Jin learned of the three girls' names. The leader of the groupwith dyed, curly light brown hair was Paulina. Even though, at first glance, she seemed to

be a fashion queen with her dangling earrings and furry boots, she was actually wearing akeyblade around her neck and her wrist. Her interest in video games stemmed fromKingdom Hearts. The other two girls looked more like gamers. They were sisters under thename of Stacy and Sammy, who both wore glasses and had long braids. Even though theywere waiting for lunch, they kept drawing on their DS and giggling at something Jin couldn'tsee. Overall, Paulina was the one who was mostly talking to Jin.

So, Jin, said Paulina, tossing him a sideways glance. How old are you?Jin knew that question was coming up because he stood out so much so he answered

honestly, I'm... sixteen?Paulina laughed. You're uncertain?No, I'm sixteen, said Jin, laughing.

Aw, said Stacy and Sammy, squealing. He's so cute.Doesn't he remind you of one of those little boys with the pinch-able cheeks? asked

Paulina to her friends.Kawaii, said Stacy and Sammy, gushing over Jin.Jin blushed and asked, How old are you guys?Twenty-four, said Paulina proudly.I'm twenty-five, said Stacy, pointing at herself.I'm twenty-two, said Sammy, grinning and rocking back on her chair.That's it, said Paulina, pouting and pointing at Jin. From now on, you're our little

brother, Jin.Jin blinked. Adopted?Yay, said Sammy happily.An adopted brother, said Stacy, reaching over and hugging Jin around the neck.After they became acquainted with one another, they began listing their favorite

video games and asking each other questions on certain video games they wanted to buy in

the future. The girls soon learned that Jin knew everything when it came to release datesof various video games. Once the sisters figured this out, they couldn't help, but squeezeand call Jin 'cute' continuously.

By the time Jin was done with his food, he felt worn out from being touched by threeolder girls constantly. However, he decided it had been fun since he got to talk to otherpeople about his interests in video gaming. Bo was always good at that back in the day, buthe hadn't had a chance to speak to Bo in forever. It was now more than ever that Jinrealized how deprived he was of his former video gaming ways once he had become moreinvolved with the Wilson High school system.

Back at the lounge, after Jin and his new friends went their separate ways, Jin heardthe Pokemon battle theme music he loved so much and immediately located the person

playing Pokemon on one of the red couches. This boy was a lanky male with a growingmustache. He didn't even notice Jin sitting next to him until he was done with his battleand caught sight of a familiar shadow.

How long have you-Hi, said Jin, beaming. Are you into competitive Pokemon battling? I've been

looking for a new person to battle against for a while now.The boy was stunned and muttered, O-Okay. When?Right now!Right now?Jin smirked and said, I shall use my starter team and we'll see if you have what it

takes to meet my ultimate team of doom.

Within an hour, Jin was surrounded by other players who were drawn to himautomatically. Jin laughed and joined in any conversation they talked about since this washis forte. Admittedly, Jin thought about back in high school when girls would go up to himand ask for his advice on skin care and he would be at a loss for words. Here, anyone couldask him anything about video games and he could answer all their questions.

In the middle of Jin explaining how to build a Pokemon team, Jin noticed a girlwatching him from afar. It was the same one who kicked him out of his room earlier. Thiswas his chance to explain things to her! Excusing himself from everyone around him, Jin ranas fast as he could to her. She noticed him after a few minutes and ran the oppositedirection. Soon, the chase began between Jin and this young girl until she hit a dead end.

Please, said Jin, breathing in and out heavily in front of her. Listen to what I have

to say!No... said the girl shyly, backing up against the wall. I refuse!Rin-chan, said Jin, blinking. You look and act like Rin-chan!No! she cried loudly. It's Rina-chan.Rina-chan? asked Jin, confused.Blushing bright red, she said, My name is Rina-chan, not Rin-chan!Rina-chan, said Jin politely, walking up to her. I want to apologize for earlier. I

can promise you that it wasn't my intention to see your bra.Reddening even more, Rina stuttered, H-How did you break into my r-room in the

first p-place?With this? asked Jin, holding up his room key.But, said Rina, gawking at it. It's my room...It's my room too, said Jin, tilting his head.How is that possible? cried Rina, stomping her foot. No one said anything about

me sharing a room with a boy!

Since Jin needed a room and Rina wanted some answers, they marched up to thefront desk and asked what was going on. The short answer was that since Rina and Jin werethe only two who signed up late, they had to share that room. Apparently, everyone elsewho signed up for the tournament also had to share rooms, but they already arrangedthemselves who would room with him. In the end, Jin and Rina had to share the sameelevator to get back up to their room.

Rina kept her distance from Jin. I can't share a room with a boy...I can't share a room with you either, said Jin, frowning. I have a girlfriend.You have a girlfriend? asked Rina in dismay.Yup, said Jin proudly. I call her Fi.I don't need to hear your life story.

Oh, sorry.Rina sighed and moaned. I still can't share a room with a boy... even if you aretaken and a shota.

Shota? repeated Jin, knowing that word too well thanks to Rin. I'm not that muchyounger than you. Why would you call me a shota?

Do you know how old I am? asked Rina, glaring.Aren't you around my age? asked Jin, confused.Rina tossed Jin a disgusted look. What are you? Fifteen?Sixteen, said Jin, annoyed.Well, said Rina, sticking her chin up. I'm twenty! I'm allowed to call you a shota!You're twenty? asked Jin in disbelief. But you look sixteen at most...

Scowling, Rina said, What do you know, you stupid shota?Before Jin could argue, they had arrived at their floor. Jin slowed down his pace sothat Rina could walk ahead of him since she didn't want anywhere near him. Instead ofinserting the door key, Rina stopped and made him do it instead, just to prove once and forall that this was really his room too. Jin obeyed and opened the door in less than fiveseconds. Scowling, Rina entered first with Jin behind her.

I don't see what's the problem, said Jin, observing his room for the first time.There are two beds.

Still, said Rina, picking the teddy bear up from the ground and handing it to him.You should take better care of your things!

You're the one who knocked me out with your controller!

Rina stomped back to her bed. I'm not sharing a room with you, you shota.My name is Jin, said Jin, irritated.Well, your name is shota now, said Rina quickly, also annoyed.Fine, then, said Jin, sitting at the other bed. I'll call you Rin-chan from now on!You can't give me a nickname!Jin hugged his teddy. Look who's talking.For a while, they didn't say anything to each other as they unpacked their belongings

from their suitcases. Jin noticed that like everyone else here, she brought her hand-heldconsoles and her controllers. She even had memory cards and cleaning supplies for her

consoles. Even though Jin was still annoyed at her, his respect for her went up at howcarefully she handled her video games. He was the same with his.

Without facing him, Rina muttered, What is a sixteen-year-old doing here anyways?Don't tell me you dropped out of high school.

No, said Jin with a sigh. My parents sent me here.Early break?

Something like that.Rina nodded absentmindedly. My parents would never do something like that...Are you Japanese? asked Jin curiously.I am, said Rina softly. I'm actually an international student right now.Cool.It's not cool. It sucks.Jin blinked. Er... that sucks?Rina released a heavy sigh and said, How do you know what it's like to have parents

who have such high expectations of you? Of what you can achieve or what you can do forthe rest of the family?

Oh... said Jin, not knowing what to say.

They don't even know I'm here, said Rina, lowering her head. They don't know Ilove gaming. Period.I see.I'm hiding this huge part of myself from them, and here I am, staying in the same

room with a shota, whose parents are kind enough to send him all the way from who knowswhere to be here in this tournament.

Jin had to speak up now, That's not true at all. My parents are not that differentfrom yours, Rin-chan.

It's Rina-chan!Listen, said Jin, sighing and laying on top of the bed. My parents actually kicked

me out of the house not too long ago. Rina turned her eyes toward Jin in surprise. They

found out that I had fallen in love with my girlfriend so-What is that supposed to mean? asked Rina in interruption.Jin blinked. Mean what?Aren't you with your girlfriend because you're in love with her in the first place?Oh, said Jin, laughing. I forgot you don't know the whole story.Boy, are you smart, said Rina, rolling her eyes.It's complicated, said Jin, grinning. But the point is that I wasn't supposed to fall

in love with her, but I did. My parents disapproved and threw me out of the house. I was anembarrassment for them so they couldn't stand me anymore.

This sounds too anime-like to be real, said Rina, huffing.Jin laughed at her comment. It does, doesn't it?

But it doesn't matter, said Rina quickly, trying hard to not sympathize with Jin. Atleast you don't have to fulfill your parents' high expectations and hide your video gamingbehind their back! I don't care what you say! You're better off than I am!

Maybe, said Jin softly.That's all you have to say?Jin got off the bed. With parents like that, I understand that sharing a room with a

'shota' like me is out of the question. Jin glanced at his luggage. I'll leave my things herethough since there's nothing to steal really.

Where are you going? asked Rina, watching Jin head toward the door.

I'll be buying some merchandise, said Jin in a carefree voice, hugging the teddybear tighter to his chest. I'll sleep in the lounge later so don't worry. I won't be a bother toyou or your strict parents.

Hold up, said Rina, feeling guilty. Jin glanced back at her. You sure you can't askone of those other guys to share a room with instead?

Those other guys? asked Jin, lost.

You know! The guys you were talking to earlier before you ran after me!Jin understood. Oh. Them. I don't know them.But, said Rina, confused. You were talking to them!Suddenly, Jin had a sad smile on his face. That's how it is with me really. I can make

many friends, but, Jin laughed weakly to himself. None of them know who I really am.They just need me to help them with something or hang out with for fun. I'm like the guywho everyone will talk to and be friends one minute and never give a second thought oncethey graduate high school or college or whatever.

Rina was stunned at what Jin said, That's sad...I shouldn't have said that, said Jin, shaking his head. I've been a burden to you

long enough. I'll be going now.

I said hold up, said Rina, standing behind Jin. Jin turned around to face her.You're sixteen for God's sake. How can you have an identity crisis like that?Jin sighed. I hear I'm mature for my age. It comes with a price.Frowning, Rina said, What is that supposed to mean? Does that make me immature,

then? Jin was astonished at her words. I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Idon't know who I am either. Everything I do and know are because of my parents. But eventhen, I don't feel lost or anything.

Oh, said Jin, surprised.It's cause my parents have set a goal out for me and I must fulfill it without

question, said Rina, looking at Jin from top to bottom. Don't you have a goal like that?Don't you have something to reach out for and grab for yourself? Or even for your parents?

Jin lowered his eyes. No...If your parents haven't set a goal for you, can't you make one for yourself? Give yourlife some purpose?

I had a goal, said Jin, sighing. But it was at the expense of losing myself.Rina shook her head. You, shota, shouldn't have to deal with these issues at this

age. You should be happy and carefree with all your little friends.I know... said Jin sadly. But now that I know, I can't stop.Is that why your parents sent you here? asked Rin suddenly.Jin was a bit taken back by her question, but he answered, Yes, it is.Before you go and buy stuff, let me tell you this, said Rina, returning to her bed

and sitting down on top of it. She gazed out at the scenery, searching for the right words to

say. Most of us don't know what to do with our lives or who we are exactly. Most people gothrough their entire lives without figuring it out. Rina entwined her fingers. The onlything we can do before we figure that out is just to go with the flow and be a good citizento the community. Not to leave behind any regrets or hurt anyone in the process.

At her words, Jin felt happy. He felt happier now that he had been with all thepeople in the lounge before. Even though he was playing video games and discussing videogames... even though he was laughing and chatting constantly... he didn't feel ascomfortable and happy as he was right now. Maybe it was because Rina was the first personhere who truly understood him as a person.

what you just said to heart. If I fail in my quest, at least I can tell my parents I learned

something valuable from someone I met here.Rina scowled. You make me sound old!You are old though.What?Jin laughed. Compared to me, of course.Anyways, said Rina, scowling. Weren't you going to buy some merchandise? What

happened to that?Oh yeah, said Jin, placing his teddy bear on his bed. Can I leave Jezebelle junior

with you though? I'll pick it up later.Seriously, said Rina, staring at the teddy bear now. What is up with you and that

teddy? It's kind of creepy.

Fi lent it to me, said Jin, beaming. And she told me to take good care of it.Rina lifted a brow. What the?I'll be back soon!At the sound of the door closing behind him, Rina walked over to his bed and touched

the fur of the teddy bear. How soft! Rina could tell that this bear was probably expensivethanks to its size and fur. It had a feminine scent, too. Jin wasn't lying when he told herthat his girlfriend was the one who entrusted him with this. Laying down on her bed withher eyes on the bear still, Rina wondered what kind of girlfriend would date a video gamenerd like Jin.

**************************************************************At the incoming call, Jezebelle pouted and wondered whether she should pick up or

not. Kristian, Juliet, and Shuijin stared at Jezebelle since they didn't want to hear thesound of her loud ring tone anymore. If she wasn't going to pick it up, she should at leasthang up on the person. At last, thanks to their stares and her own unwillingness to hang up,Jezebelle forced herself to pick up.

Right when Jezebelle did that, Cole came down the stairs with Wendy. The two ofthem grabbed a couple of chairs and sat close to Jezebelle to see what was going on. Colegrinned and waved at Kristian from across the long table. Kristian scowled at him.

Hi Fi! Jin greeted on the other end of the phone.Jezebelle glanced at the kitchen clock and said, It's seven. Why are you calling me?I'm keeping my word, Fi.I don't remember anything.

That I'd call you every day?Pouting, Jezebelle said coldly, This is one of those times when you shouldn't keep

your word. It's annoying.How are you, Fi? asked Jin happily. What are you up to now?Am I obligated to answer? asked Jezebelle warily.Er...I'm eating, said Jezebelle, poking a pink mochi ice cream in front of her. A snack

before dinner.What about your weight? asked Jin curiously.

Now that I took my equipment over to your house, said Jezebelle, sighing. I canwork out enough to maintain my weight.

That's good to hear.During this whole conversation, Cole turned his eyes toward Wendy and then, at

Kristian with an obvious question in his eyes. Kristian didn't know the answer to hisunspoken question so he shrugged. As for Wendy, she simply nodded, telling Cole that yes,

this was how Jezebelle and Jin usually talked on the phone with one another.Did you explode in ecstasy yet? asked Jezebelle, poking a mochi ice cream withher fork. Everyone in the room turned their heads toward Jezebelle.

Jin's voice went up a notch. This place is amazing! I just bought several beanieswith mushrooms and triangles imprinted on them! I found this nice deal on these t-shirtswith catchy lines! Oh, oh! Jezebelle took a bite of her mochi ice cream while Jincontinued on. There were this group of people who were making their characters in thisone game and we began chatting to each other on our DS!

If you guys are all in the same place, said Jezebelle in interruption. Why don't youjust talk to each other face to face?

I don't understand, Fi.

Jezebelle rolled her eyes. Forget it.These girls made these cookies that look like the various bosses in Megaman! Andwe're going to train for the Brawl tournament tomorrow!

I'm going to eat dinner with Cole and the gang now.Jin frowned. But I'm not done yet Fi! And why is Cole with you?Without answering, Jezebelle hung up on Jin and glanced at the group around her. At

Cole's smiling face, Jezebelle rolled her eyes and excused herself to take an early bathbefore dinner. Despite this, Cole dashed after her and stuck by her side until Jezebellecouldn't take it anymore and glared at him.

Why are you following me? asked Jezebelle, placing a hand on her hip.It isn't like you to lash out at people because of your temper, said Cole smoothly.

You took care of Eunice? asked Jezebelle, calming down.Cole nodded. Yup. And I'm getting to know Victoria better too.And the transfer?I'm having trouble with that, said Cole admittedly. Some bull shit about me not

being able to transfer since it's my senior year and my teachers at Wilson High won't knowme well enough to write a letter of recommendation for my college applications.

Who gives a fuck about school after high school? asked Jezebelle, smirking.Whole-heartedly agree, said Cole with a grin. I have a money-making scheme

going on anyways. I'll be a millionaire in five years hopefully. I'll just have to last untilthen. Cole tilted his head. Know any rich chicks I can pick up?

Yes, said Jezebelle, amused. But she's already taken.

That's not really a problem.Jezebelle waved it off. Forget that. Stick to my plan for now.If you say so, said Cole, following Jezebelle straight to the door leading to the

large bathtub. Though I must add, I'm glad that you're finally coming to terms with yourfeelings for Jin. I should apologize for assuming that you're such a cold person that you'reafraid of love.

With her hand on the knob of the door, Jezebelle said, You heard our phoneconversation. Does it even come anywhere close to two people being in love? I even hungup on him. Jezebelle frowned. He's probably being a drama queen right now.

Cole smiled sweetly at her. Is he?He's always like that.I didn't know, said Cole, observing Jezebelle. Why didn't you just reject his call if

he annoys you that much?What are you? asked Jezebelle, opening the door. A love adviser?Just saying.

Jezebelle rolled her eyes. You suck at it.After Jezebelle slammed the door in his face, Cole laughed to himself and headeddownstairs. He was surprised to find Kristian leaning against the opposite wall and waitingfor him. Kristian stopped licking his lips and elevated his eyes at Cole, who waved at himeven though they were a few feet away from each other.

You heard everything? asked Cole playfully.Tilly is in love with Jin? asked Kristian, ignoring Cole's last question.And what if I say yes?How do you know that? asked Kristian, lifting a brow. She's heartless.My intuition, said Cole, chuckling.So, you have no solid proof.

Cole shook his head. I do. I have lots of proof to back it up too. Kristian tossedCole a disbelieving look so Cole laughed and continued, She didn't start liking him untilrecently when I came to visit her. She's been acting more immature than usual. It's funnythat the most mature person I know is being so childish.

Will this affect her plans though? asked Kristian, folding his arms.Not likely, said Cole immediately.Really...Nodding firmly, Cole explained, Even if Jez is in love with Jin, she will never admit

it and she would never allow such feelings affect her plans. She's not that type of person.Kristian shrugged, half-agreeing. No matter what, she will finish what she sets out to do.Cole laughed at the serious expression on Kristian's face. As you can tell, Jez is really

against love. She hates the idea of needing someone to live or depending on that personemotionally. She's been brought up to put herself above all others and that's the rule shelives by. To be in love and be childish is against everything she believes in.

She's planning to live the rest of her life that way, right? asked Kristian solemnly.That's right, said Cole, amused. She's already changing thanks to that guy and...

she doesn't like it one bit.Most of us don't like to change anyways.That Eunice girl, said Cole, glancing at Kristian. Do you like her?No, said Kristian defensively. She's a friend.But you liked someone before, haven't you?Kristian scowled and went on his way, It's none of your business, Cole.

He's always in a bad mood, thought Cole to himself. Is it because of me or thesubjects I keep bringing up?

***********************************************************Thanks to drama club, Faith was unable to come to practice earlier that morning so

the whole practice between the five members of the quintet was canceled. Rin didn't mindthough since she was supposed to meet up with Jordan right after so they could go throughthe apartments with his real estate agent. Apparently, the woman accompanying them wasa friend of Bailey's parents. Bailey arranged this for Jordan after he had asked for her helpover the phone.

When Rin agreed to help Jordan out, she didn't think it will take the entire day totravel to all those apartment buildings to check up on the rooms. It was already this late inthe evening so the two of them as well as their real estate agent decided to eat dinner at aChinese restaurant together. While Rin ate, she listened to Jordan and the woman chattingabout prices and location. Thanks to that, Rin felt like she knew nothing about the world atall. Then again, she already knew that about herself. Why did it bother her so?

Are you two really both eighteen? asked Ms. Kennedy with a bright smile.Jordan returned the smile. Yes. Ri-chan has a baby face so it's hard to tellsometimes.

Yes... said Rin, sipping her drink.You haven't spoken much, sweetie, said Ms. Kennedy, shifting her attention to Rin.

Are you feeling well?I'm perfectly fine, said Rin with a firm nod.It's cute, said Ms. Kennedy, tossing Rin an envious look. You two eloping at this

age and even sharing an apartment together.Rin blinked. What? Eloping?It's because her father is against our relationship, said Jordan hastily, receiving a

He always had a hard time expressing himself when it came to his selfish feelings andthoughts. He was the most open and honest person when it came to video games andanime. But when it came to darker subjects, Jin couldn't be honest with himself at all. Itwas human nature to dislike certain things and certain people. It was human nature to getangry and be selfish. Because Jin didn't understand any of this or more like he hideverything behind a nice, selfless facade, his other self existed.

Because his other side was born out of hatred, Jin refused to accept him for thelongest time. There were times when he told Jordan and Rin that they should accept him.

His other side was a part of him too. They shouldn't treat him so badly. While he said thesewords, he himself never really came to terms with his other side himself. Sometimes, Jinwas even ashamed of him.

Right now, while Jin watched himself let loose on the screen before him, Jin thoughtabout how his other side must have felt trapped this entire time. It was like Jin kept him ina cage. Once in a while, he would break out and cause trouble. Every time though, Jinwould drag him back inside that cage. Jin didn't want to see or hear him. Jin was afraid ofthat side of him for the longest time. Before he met Jezebelle, that side came out in smalldoses. But with her around, he broke out faster and more frequently than before. already. Jin began cursing under his breath and glaring at Mark. This was how he felt. Hedidn't want to lose and he didn't want to feel humiliated in front of everyone. His other selftaught him that. It was fine to be aggressive once in a while. There were times when it wasnecessary to be selfish, too. His other self embodied all of this for him. His other self made

him look and act like a better person. That was why Jin felt so lost when he couldn't hearhim for a while. It was terrifying to think that without his other side, he would have to facethose horrible feelings and thoughts alone. There was no way to hide from them anymore.

I have no choice, said Jin bitterly, switching characters. He had to win the last twomatches to get the teddy bear back from Mark. I have to use him. I have to win... both formyself and for Fi-Fi.

Finally, his competitive side was back. Jin wasn't afraid of him anymore. This entiretime, he took him for granted. He was a huge part of Jin and without him, Jin wouldn't beable to play the nice boy role in front of his classmates and parents for so long. It was timeJin took responsibility for his existence.
