From New Delhi, India, Surbhi ’19 came to Goucher ill-prepared for snowy winters punctuated by freezing temperatures, but people on campus made sure she kept warm. A staff member from the Billing Office took Surbhi shopping for a winter coat; another employee from the Alumnae/i House gave her hats, gloves, and scarves, which she still wears four years later.
When Surbhi was looking at schools, she didn’t realize the importance of certain factors, the cold certainly being one. The genuine kindness of everyone on campus was also a surprise, but it’s why her transition to a college 12,000 km from home was so seamless. It’s also why she would choose Goucher all over again!
It’s easy to apply to Goucher.
SCHOLARSHIPOPPORTUNITIES
International students are considered for merit-based aid in the admissions process. Those interested in need-based aid must complete the International Student Financial Aid Application
(ISFAA), which is available once you apply.
“People at Goucher put others’ needs first, and they ask how you are because they care about your answer,” Surbhi said.
She will be taking what she learned at Goucher to Los Angeles to be a junior writer for Korchula Productions, where she will be writing scripts for TV shows and movies.
SURBHI ’19Double major in computer science and English
“Goucher helped me grow a lot.
