the Committee recommended to submit a letter mentioning the name change approved under

The matter was last discussed in the 80th

July, 2017 and the recommendations of the Committee are as follows :

The Committee noted the following:

1. The Lead levels in the blood of workers are high upto 38 micrograms/dl.

2. The parameters of pollutants in the stack emission did not include lead which is the most

important parameter in this kind of plant.

3. There is no evidence of Alkaline scrubber attached to the Smelting Furnace.

4. No reports of Soil as well as waste water analysis are provided.

The applicant may be advised to take remedial action in respect of these issues and to

ensure that all the systems as per SOP prescribed by the Ministry has been incorporated

then inform the Ministry, so that arrangements for site visit can be planned. The case is

deferred till then.”

“During presentation, the applicant provided information about the process with which the

waste proposed to be imported is generated and the process to be employed for producing manganese

sulphate from the waste. The waste is generated during the recovery of zinc from ZnSO4 solution

obtained in the zinc producing plant from zinc concentrate. As per the analysis report from Belgium,

the waste contains 50 percent manganese and about 7 percent lead and 500 ppm silver. The lead

containing waste generated in the process will be sent to TSDF and the product will be manganese

sulphate. The applicant has necessary authorization from the State Board but need to be inspected by

CPCB. The Ministry therefore recommended site visit by CPCB”.
