Some of the focus areas to be addressed at this year’s conference shall include:

The mineral sector is now among the priority sectors targeted to transform Uganda’s economy with representation at the Presidential Investors Round Table Initiative.

A State of the Art Gold Refinery has been set up in Entebbe by African Gold Refinery (AGR). The refinery is in fulfilment of one of the objectives of the Mineral Policy that spells out government ’s strategy to add value to mineral ores and increase mineral trade.

Namekara Mining Company Limited has conducted a Feasibility Study to expand plant production capacity to a minimum of 50,000 tonnes per annum from the current 30,000 tonnes per annum. In the near future Namekara shall be the leading producer of vermiculite in the world.

Government has also commenced with the registration of Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) operations across the country. There are currently over 400,000 Ugandans involved in
